I am from NY and have watched the US Hoarders. I love British TV, and enjoy how understated everyone is on these shows vs the crazy dramatics of the Hoarders show.
I am decluttering my home and play this in the background as I clean. Thank you and good luck everyone!
I love watching these, and they really motivate me to declutter. I watch them while I clean up too
Yes, it’s very motivating!! 😊
I love to watch British TV also!! Especially crime shows!!
This is exactly what I do
It’s amazing how something stressful can cause a complete breakdown of the ability to sort, put away, care for the daily activities of cleaning up.
A traumatic event can also lead to the extreme opposite--excessive cleaning.
I'm very proud of myself and my family. I decluttered twice in my life. The first time, I didn't inspire my parents at all. My room became so much that the vibes became better. The second time I did a couple of months ago. My mom, after watching me, decluttered many-many clothes. Then I sorted out the balcony, threw out the obvious trash, sorted out, and nicely stacked all the necessary things. And have displayed all the things that I doubt about in the living room. My parents had no other choice but to make decisions. Now, the balcony is still a mess (because of renovation progress in a flat), but you can at least walk into it, sit on an improvised bench, and find what you need. Then, I sponsored a set of new furniture, and they got inspired. Got rid of many things and decorated the room. So proud of them!
I moved into a flat, from a house. Living alone now, I realized that I only needed two plates, two mugs, two forks, and so on. I'm glad that George determined that Vic needed the same thing.
That’s great, although I truly hope that you don’t ever plan on having any company/guests, because you would have to take turns eating or drinking. To each is own, however in my opinion, “there are some things that you don’t need much of, but there’s also some things that you should have plenty of, like for instance the essentials of course!! 😊
Through watching these videos I've realized my mother was a level 1 hoarder, and it explains why I have such a dislike for clutter!
Same, but I also struggle with throwing stuff away of which I know can be of use to someone else.
I have set limits for myself on how much I am allowed to have/keep and have dedicated one space in my house that is allowed to be messy.
And since the rest of the house is cleared and clean, my brain keeps recognizing that as being the norm and that one messy room aggravates me from time to time and I clean it up.
I started realizing my mom hoarded a little. After she died I'm trying to get rid of some of it. But I noticed I'm having a hard time getting rid of some of her stuff now
Same here, but my son and his wife didn’t “catch” my dislike of clutter. They are messy, I have learned to over look it when I go over and sigh with relief when I come back home.
Same. When my mom passed it took over a year to remove all of her things from a 2 bedroom 2 bath home... and that was the 4th time Id dehoarded her things. And I couldnt get rid of everything even through 4 different declutters. 😢 Im stuck on photos! I have soo many and I hate having pictures of people on the walls. So IDK what to even do with them!
@deniseroe5891 My youngest son is a definite hoarder. My older son is more like me and gets rid of things in batches. But my youngest will literally hoard trash and broken things and Im concerned and bonkers about it.
“I was a diva in my time”
Me, too, girl, me too.
LOLLL
Me #slay
As a teen I had a friend who's mother was not keen on cleaning, my friend said when I have my own home. It's never going to look like this. And true to her word.her home is spotless.
Dionne has lead a wonderful, interesting life. I am totally jealous. Beautiful hair still. Vic is a sweety. I'm glad he kept his grumpy git cup. Excellent work on everyones part.
I really enjoy these shows. They work with people who are ready for change. The hoarder shows in the States deal with people who are not mentally ready and it is quite traumatic for them.
The US Hoarders team come in cause the hoarder is in trouble with the city authorities
"Everyone has a room where they stash the rubbish." BALONEY!! I have a two-bedroom apartment, with the second bedroom being so empty, I've had friends say they wish they could take the space and add it to their houses!
Not "everyone" has a room where stuff and junk is stashed....some of us like very clean, very neat minimalistic homes.
You might prefer the show where the OCD cleaners help the hoarders tidy up
😅@@PortraitoftheArtistasanOldDog8
😊I don't have such a room, either.
@@Solutions3000 my 'dining room' seems to have a lot of Thomas trains but I tidy on...one poor guy had to swim down his hall about 2 feet from the ceiling...
I couldn't live in a home filled with trash and will continue to live a minimal life; I hate clutter.
LOVE the ladies! They are extremely positive and cooperative. They are just SWEET.
Are you actually from Greece? Or a Greek in the diaspora?
This older lady is colorful and has beautiful things a good eye I can’t wait to see it finished
She has an eye for detail!
watching one of these always make me want to start cleaning
So Miss Dion was a tart back in the day huh ??? 😂😂😂 She needs to record her memoirs because just showing her things and the fact that she was "seeing two Lords at once from the House of Commons" just makes me want to hear more !!! Sassy senior lady.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh….. 😮
Tart seems a bit harsh… maybe “a free spirit”? I’d love to hear her stories, too. 😊
You look at old ladies and think “old” but I’m from the swinging sixties and I had my fun back in the day
In response to my comment - I was not being mean or disparaging, quite the opposite. Hence, the smiley emojis. I am only a little younger than this lady is soooo, as the kids say, chill out.
They were probably, more so, responding to the word "tart". Tart is viewed as derogatory, as it refers to a woman who dresses or behaves in a way that suggests she wants to have sex with a lot of different people. I didn't think you meant anything bad, by how you phrased your post. I'd like to hear her story, as well. @@AngusHenry09
I’m sorry but two forks and two knives being “enough” is a little harsh. 😅
Well, I suppose it would help you keep up with the cleaning? I'm at least level 1. When I get depressed or just busy the dishes will sit til I run out of silver. Then the need to clean steps in and usually extends well beyond the silver. Hmmm. I suppose same would apply to clothes and linens. Now minimalism is making sense to me!
I know right, that’s what you call minimalist, having 1 fork, 1 knife, 1 spoon and 1 plate. 😅 God forbid if you have company, you’d have to take turns eating your meal 😂
Right now there is 2 of us… 7 every other weekend… I have 7 plates silverware cups etc… if someone should actually want to come with a houseful… good luck…. And there’s always paper plates…. We have a small kitchen and every space is precious real estate… I am not a minimalist but I don’t do Knick-knacks either ….
@@dawnr5158 It is a good thing to have 1 allocated plate and leave the spares in the cupboard so dirty washing doesn't pile up, I hate cluttered sink tubs even though I'm a L2 hoarder
Wow, her back story was one that I could really understand. My heart goes out to her❤
We agree - beautiful story
Dionne made progress, but there is still too much clutter in the home. All of Sue’s dolls creep me out. Hopefully they will continue to get rid of stuff and not accumulate more junk.
You do know that this episode is quite old....at least ten years, probably more like 12 to 13 years old...and those people (hoarders) are very likely dead by now?
@@jb6712no way!😮
Gorgeous flats!! I cant stand the dolls. The more realistic the more I hate them. And I struggle with pictures. I have tons of photos of family, but I hate having people on the walls. What do you do with them, though??
Dolls creep me out also😱🇦🇺🇦🇺💜
I have a short entry hall crammed full of family photos in beautiful unique frames that I enjoy shopping for. The rest of the house is all artwork - no people. I consider the frames in the front hall artwork also so it balances out the people photos if that makes sense? Works for me anyhow and whatever works for YOU is what's right!
@@tinamarieb49 I have them in my utility room, lol. Same as you with the eclectic frames. Every inch of wall space is taken up. People love it and I don't feel guilty anymore with all the photos in boxes packed away.
That first doll at @ 5:52 and 10:53 looked too real for me😮 I had to rewind 3 times. I really thought Sue had someone’s baby 😹
Did Dion just say that she had two men at the same time, one was a con and one was the law!?
politics, House of Lords and House of Commons
IN FRONT OF THE ORANGE BAG. LOL 😀
Where are these people getting money for all the junk? I mean seriously, Sue's doll collection looks like thousands of dollars.
What do they do with the storage boxes?
Many are going to charity.
George, the Scouser, talks like the scousers I remember (I was born in Liverpool) not the exaggerated Scouse accent I hear the young people in Liverpool speaking today, which I think they do for Tik Tok.
He was also 100% understandable to me, which isn't always the case (am American).
When I first saw the dolls some of them scared me cause I thought it was a person.
One looked like a dead body!
Can't help thinking how many people would appreciate, love and cherish a subsidised local authority home with a garden in London.
Es ist eine Schande, dass nach ein paar Monaten wieder alles genauso aussieht.
My father in law is not a hoarder but he keeps his money and things and so hard to give it away. He always move around just to wacth everyone in the house and he will be angry if he finds his own was taken away. He is almost 90 years old now. 😢
Memories don't live in objects, but objects do trigger memories. It's sad when you're (put) in nursing home, you can't obviously bring but a few items and photographs maybe. They really help elderly and memory impaired people to remember happy times.
George is my favourite he’s so funny but so understanding
I toss stuff every day. I do lots of crafts and if I haven't used things in a while, I pass things on to kids programs and seniors groups. There's always more.
Tina, Al's wife
My pommy neighbours are hoarders. They say houses in England are more cluttered than Australian houses where we like lots of space.
I keep nothing on counters, pickup and clean something daily.Pretty tidy bur closets always need work.I felt like hoarder for keeping kids crayons...oldest 37!I may even have some oler colorbooks mixed in with the new ones for grandkids.I guess after watching..I'm not a hoarder!
I can be a hoarder but then the time always comes where I have to compulsively take stuff to the thrift store. My sentiment fades fast lol.
You really need to go back in and edit your comment....it's so sloppily written, one would think a seven year old wrote it!
A breakup isn’t trauma.
I was shocked and stunned last October. My husband of 25 years told me marriage over!!
I packed my treasures. Never add to them now! Still unpacked. Dont think i every will.
Dionne sounds like she'd be a lot of fun to hang out with
I will never understand the mentality of hoarding. There's still too much in that living room
In my opinion it mainly is laziness and having too much money to spend. It is a shame because most of these hoarders basically have beautiful homes. I mean....people are living on the streets .
Well there’s plenty of people who have lots of stuff, however they have clean and neat homes too. Not everyone is a minimalist, although there’s also a huge difference between having a lot of stuff and then just being lazy and a downright pig”!!
Are the diva's sisters?
I wonder if it's really necessary to humiliate people by making them say "I am a hoarder." It is helpful in alcoholism, but hoarding is not alcoholism or even considered OCD any more. Why couldn't that fellow just let him say he's just collected too many things? Why do people who help others always make the one they are helping feel so awful? Any thoughts on the subject?
Because hoarding is a compulsive disorder, OCD, and unfortunately 90% of these people will continue to hoard, and rehoard for the rest of their lives.
I’m a level one hoarder, and some family members love telling me I’m a hoarder, thinking I will disagree or even argue ( I think some want to) they are surprised when I agree- how strange that I would know anything about it 😂😮
@@gillianbrookwell1678 I had heard that this is almost impossible to cure. So sad. Thanks for replying.
@@cassandraknight8804 Strange indeed!🤣 It must b a constant battle. Hope you do well!
Partly because hoarders have a real problem with cleanliness, and their homes are often falling apart from the weight of their garbage and junk. Getting them to understand the difference between being a "collector" and a hoarder is the first step toward getting them to let go of trash and getting their house sort of livable.
My parents were genuine collectors of antiques. Their house and belongings sold for good prices at the estate sale a year after their deaths because everything had been cared for.
Hoarders, on the other hand, typically have no idea what they have anymore, and they pile trash on top of valuable things, with literal garbage piled on top of that. In their minds there is no difference between something truly worth keeping and something that's rotting and should have been thrown out decades ago.
This is why I only have a few ornaments. I hate dusting all that stuff.
I had the little Pebbles doll with the leopard bow but have lost her over the years :( Would love to have her back
Great episode!!
hell yeah full new episode boiiiiii
It is NOT new, not at all. This one is at least ten years old.
@@jb6712 i mean new to the channel lol
Dion slays me. What a life she led!
Of course these are only Luxury problems.....ALL the helpers are TOP. Better get rid of all the small rugs in the home of the old fellow otherwise he may easily stumble.
I’m a collector of 2nd hand things and vintage stuff, and have a history of hoarding! I am definitely a maximalist and love all my so called “clutter!” But it organised. However,I’m not going to let my home end up like my parents who are also hoarders!
My sister is very much a minimalist 😂
The first thing is to admit you have a problem! It’s really hard. But you have to do it and be ruthless!, and the funny thing is, it’s really emotionally uplifting! You won’t actually miss those things!
Those kitchens in the U.K. are very nice. ❤ I'd like to have mine to look like one.
No disrespect, but how do these people bath??
Dionne is only two years younger than me yet she's in better shape; I have chronic Osteoporosis which means brittle bones and a curved spine yet my home is spotless and clutter free. This lady is a big time hoarder living in the past and keeping all the stuff from the past.
I can’t trust hoarders. I’ve had bad experiences with two hoarders in my life. They’ve been cleaned out and helped and turned around and re hoarded. I refuse to help anymore. It’s too exhausting. It doesn’t mean I don’t love them it’s just their hoarding problem is bigger then me.
Finalysomeone who wants give stuff to sister or friend... Hoarders have many great thing, awesome as gift
So much room for activities!! -if you know, you know 😉
I couldn't live like that.
Collection of dolls is because she couldn't have children of her own.
But when you are growing up you can't bring any friends home.
I notice British hoarders aren’t as mean as the American ones.
George & Vic are sweet ❤️
Oh my goodness! Ads they’re like every three minutes or something. I’m trying to do some things but I have to keep stopping, going back to the phone to skip over the ads. Why are there so many?
Pay for You Tube Premium. Sorted.
Please take your shoes off in the house!
29:00 ……she doesn’t look like a psycho therapist. 😂
What I truly don’t understand is how some of these hoarders complain about missing items that were either accidentally thrown out or misplaced, however they just throw them anywhere. I mean seriously, if they have something that’s either very valuable and worth lots of money, or if they are just sentimental, you’d think that they take better care of them, as well stored them in a safe place. But no, they blame the individuals who are actually trying to help them, like it’s their fault that they are irresponsible!!
😢😢😢😢
