I bought several dolls when I lost my parents and I ended up keeping them for about a year. I realized I was trying to comfort my inner child. After some healing I was able and ready to sell them after they served their purpose.
@LadybugLuvblahblah What a beautiful post from you here ✨ Honouring your parents and the grief at losing them both. They would have understood and wanted you to heal. I feel that your words about 'comfort' have much to offer others experiencing their own heartache.
Well done Sue. I’m so proud of you. I don’t think you’re a real hoarder at heart. I think you’ll be much happier rather than sad that you’ve gotten your life back together. We all need to deal with trauma in some way and you’ve broken through. ❤❤❤
I admire their way of taking care of Sue and her hording without being judgemental! Also giving her some answers to why she's like she is. I'm not a horder but still have a hard time throwing things away! I would love a video with these professionals on how to think mentally when clearing stuff out! A video on how not to become a horder if you like!
Its also crazy the amount of things there are. Like my mom is a hoarder but almost everyone of that generation is. Because they had nothing growing up and had to fight for the use of the overcoaat the house had!! One between 8 kids. And then to go into the 80s of gluttony...
That was nice. The home wasn't dirty like lots of hoarders homes, it was just disorganised and full of trivial stuff. I hope Sue is enjoying her grandchildrens visits now
Not dirty? Seriously? The light switches for one example, covered in greasy marks, it would have literally taken ten seconds to clean each one with a damp cloth.
Its really not that bad at all. Except for the disorganised dolls. Which she doesnt have soace for. Everything else is not hard to accumulate. Its all so clean. Just nowhere to store it all.
@@paulmiller9384greasy marks on light switches are the concern of those with oc disorder. Its very normal and common to have dirty light switches when someone in the house is a mechanic. Usually people have dead cats behind the stack of rotting maggot filled pizza boxes. She is comparatively a saint of cleanliness compared to the usual filth in these shows.
I picked up the terms "dry" and "wet" hoarder. Dry hoarders have tons of stuff and chaos but no rotting food or decaying animals etc. Wet hoarders have all the disgusting things on top of too much junk.
My adoptive mother routinely cleared our books and toys as we grew. Never asked as we matured if there was anything we treasured or wanted to keep. I did not have anything really to recall as mine from those days of 55 or so years ago. Sigh. When married i collected Czech glass, & other items. Gave most all away over the years. I still do that with my treasures. Now i downsize books and jewelry i make as a hobby. Its nice to clear out every so often!
I'm sorry your adoptive mother gave your old toys and things away without asking you! Good for you for being able to give stuff away now, when you can choose yourself.
Why would shá ask you? If it was your thing it would be in your possession surely? In your room on your bookshelf in your school bag. Was she sneaking into your room while you were out and chucking things?
Why would she ask? If they were your things wouldnt they be in your room on your bookshelf. Was she sneaking into your room to dump your things? Or did you leave them cluttering up her home when you left and then expect her to take care of things for you?
I HATE throwing things in the garbage. Not donating or anything but trashing things. So when imagining what its like for them thats the feeling i think they may feel and it helps understand how hard this can be
Same. I watch a lady who goes dumpster diving at thruft shops in america where people like you and i have given something and they just chuck it in a skip out the back. SHe goes and takes out what she can salavage. She finds brand new things and she finds beautiful old things. Hand crotcheted things or waterford crystal. Amazing! Its nice to see her rescue them. God knows some day when society collapses people will be scrounging for every jar and bowl they can find among the debris thrown out
I understand about the dolls! At 73, I still have most of my old dolls from childhood, they were like imaginary playmates to me, much beloved. They sit in their "Clubhouse" in the top of my closet now. Her baby dolls are beautiful. I used to have a kewpie, too!
I have a routine for stuff I don't want or need anymore, first I ask family, friends and neighbors. When their answer is 'no', than I put it online, mostly for free. When there are no satisfying results, it has to go, either donate or the bin. There are enough things I can't control, but decluttering isn't one of them..
I have an obsession with clothes, but in particular with dresses. I know why! When I was about 17 years old my mother gave some dresses I had made to a jumble sale. She did not ask me if she could! She just searched in my wardrobe and threw out what I had made. She was envious of my ability to sew pretty garments. I am now 76 years old and I cannot forgive her for this. She has been dead over 40 years but I still hate her, because I realised at that moment how little she respected me and my personal boundaries. So now I have a wardrobe full of dresses which I don't wear, but don't want to get rid of! They are MINE and you can't throw them out. But it's worse than that. I protect my personal boundaries so fiercely against encroachment that I cannot form relationships, whether friendships or sexual relationships, so I'm very lonely. Thanks, Mum. You did a good job of ruining my life. You were unhappy, so you couldn't bear the thought that I might be happy.
Sue did so very well - what a beautiful loving lady. Remember to operate a one in, one out policy Sue - whatever you buy, something else has to leave the house so that you keep on top of it.
Collections are meant to be prized, to be given on....not cherished in the place of those actually here. She seems like she still has a grip on reality.... beat of luck, love!
The hoarder is aware of what triggered this: the death in the family, the mother. Awareness is key, awareness is reality toward change for improvement.
Earlier this afternoon I watched a hoarder house being emptied in the UK . They took 20 tonnes of rubbish to the dump.....it took 2 men 5 whole work days ... Is that house / flat messier or not ?

Какая прекрасная коллекция кукол, и некоторые довольно редкие и ценные! Просто у нее нет нормальных условий (полок, стеллажей) для хранения. Остальное уже проще привести в порядок
I have admit that, decluttering is an ongoing process. We just need to to it periodically until we die. My husband and I and our 3 yo son live in one bedroom apartment and we are very minimalistic. Even so, we need to constantly declutter otherwise the flat would be chaotic.
Lovely episode of a nan, whose got room for her grandchildren to PLAY now! They don't want to leave anymore! But if she's wise, she will keep the museum like room with the dolls locked, or it'll be tears for all involved.
F that lady. I announced in my house anything on the floor is trash. She pick that stuff up as soon as he start picking up handfulls and blindly trashing it.
My mom was a techers aide and the teacher she worked with was a hoarder!! She use to buy my mom all kinds of stuff! It was a nice jesters but when my mom died I gave it all away or trashed it.
I can see a parrot in one of the rooms. Is it a Grey African parrot. Sue that parrot will never leave you. It can live to be 80 years old. You might be gone before. Parrots are lifelong companions. Does he talk or repeat things?
Id have to get rid of all the dolls. I wouldnt be able to choose. But if i was giving them to poor children somewhere i would be happy to give them away to kids who have nothing and think of how happy it will make the dolls to be loved not shoved in a corner. Hopefullt this gives me a kick up the bum. Ive only one room to go.
Mental experts say it's a mental illness. We have a pair of neighbors like this who are hoarders and meth users! He puts his garbage on our street corner. What a mess!
All those grandchildren + all those dolls and she still wants to cage a beautiful bird. He'll never feel the sun on his back - what a selfish woman! So sad!!!
I really really don’t understand adults who keep baby dolls and stuffies. I refused a second date with a guy who brought me a stuffed animal. Yuck. I’m a grown woman. Bring flowers, candy, wine, a book. . . Take all the kid’s stuff to an orphanage.

So great her family was able to visit and her daughter holding back tears that her children could visit their grandmother

If she is a hoarder, what about him & his garage/shed? It’s full of rubbish.
Omgoodness 😢 the poor Parrot 🦜 all that noise and dust then she sprays airfreshner near it. 😢 people don't think.
The bird is fine
The air freshener wouldn’t be good for the Parrots lungs, chemicals can kill them and do.
Her house is very cluttered but at least it's not as nasty as some of the hoarders here in the US.
