Sailing The Normandy Coast Of France - SV Tapatya S2EP8

- Sailing vessel Tapatya. We head further down the French side of the English Channel to the beautiful harbour town of St-Vaast-la-Hougue, where we delight in the village and the nearby island.
This is the story of SV Tapatya, a self-built, Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of our adventures as I live aboard, sail and strive to find out just what such a self-built, low-budget vessel is capable of.
These videos take a lot of time and effort to make, in what is already a time-intensive project. Your support in watching, subscribing and sharing these videos is very much appreciated. You make a real difference!!

Thank you :-)

The AP sounds like a mix between laughing goats and chickens. I guess it can help you feel like you are on a very fun farm.
It does sound a bit like there's a chicken coop on board.
😂😂
Doesn’t it just! 😂
It all looks absolutely splendiferous, unfavourable winds provide opportunities too.😀👍⛵️
Thanks Norman. We’re certainly enjoying it 😃😃
Wish I was sailing the Normandy Coast, especially today! I would love to go to all the war Museums there. ✝️🙏❤️🇺🇸⛵️👣☘️🍍😊
Thanks Melinda. It’s a lovely place, although we’re looking forward to being further south 😃
Clipping on during a night watch simply makes sense. It also allows the off-watch crew to sleep a bit more soundly. Good seamanship. I'm so glad to see that Normandy is treating you well. You both look relaxed and deeply happy. Fantastic! Best wishes and I'm already looking forward to next week's video. Cheers, Tony and Hazel! - Chris
Thank you Chris. Yes, particularly St Vaast was excellent 👍😃😃
I think you may need to spray some lanolin on the rub points, Tapatya sounds like she has a hold full of chickens and goats, those squaks and grunts would keep me awake!
It’s the tiller pilot making the vast majority of the noise, Mike. That’s just how it is! 🫣
Really enjoy watching your travel adventure.
Almost as much as the build process.
Thank you Jim 😃😃
I really do enjoy these longer videos. 😃
Thanks Harvey 😃😃
Very enjoyable thankyou, looking forward to next week's
Glad you enjoyed it 😃😃
Beautiful scenery . Nice nice nice.....
Thank you 😃😃
I love the sound the autopilot is making, it sounds like a mad seagull 🤪😂
😂😂👍

Thank you Kevin. Glad you enjoyed it 😃
The Ap sounds like it is laughing.
Yes, it’s a strange noise. It works well though, so that’s good enough 👍😃
Nice sail, lovely destination, got good weather too. Tapatya goes alright eh. On the way now. All the best Tony and Hazel. Go well ok
Thanks Rob 😃😃

Thanks Peter 😃😃

Thanks for taking us along. May the wind be at your back as you run with the tide.
Thank you James 😃😃
Lovely tour of the island. The island looked like a massive garden. Very peaceful. Thank you for taking us along, Tony and Hazel. Have a good week and enjoy the D-day festivities.
Thanks Matt. Yes, the island trip was truly excellent. Thoroughly recommended! 😃😃
Any good local food - wine, beer, breads, pastries, pasta, fruits, cakes, etc? May and still cool.
Lots of good food, Roland 😃😃
Nice one Tony, beautiful place!
Thanks Nena 😃😃
Lots of miles going under Tapatya's keel now Tony. Great videography and editing, really gave a feel for St,Vaast. I can't help but hear a sheep baa-ing when your tiller pilot's in action!
Thanks Billy. Yes, it does sound like a sheep or goat! Works well though 😃👍
How long have you been sailing with your daughter pops ?
This year? Since mid April. But it’s not the first time we’ve sailed together 👍
What’s that constant squeaking noise we hear, the autopilot steering arm? Better grease those gears, it’s bl**dy annoying! Hahaha! Beautiful sights again, Tony & Hazel! Enjoy your cruise! 😊👍
It’s the autopilot ram working. That’s the noise it makes. Not much we can do about that, I’m afraid 🤔
@@SVTapatya I know, Tony. Like I mentioned in my initial comment, that’s what I thought myself. Just yanking your... autopilot 😁
😂😂👍
I think I'm first what an honor
😂😂😂 Thanks Kevin !
