    Great video!
    The line was so badly damaged that I didn't think it would *ever* be repaired.
    To be able to do it in a year or so was amazing - especially given the large number of tunnels and bridges!
    Really good footage of the huge amount of coastal land uplifted by the quake!
    I think I saw the Papatea fault scarp there too, at Waipapa Bay (although I think it has almost eroded away now - it doesn't take long.)

    Excellent video. Somewhat sobering to see how vulnerable the line is to coastal erosion in places as well.

    Love your vids, great to see a new upload. Any chance of getting some footage around the Rolleston/Selwyn area? Any inside info on what locos are being considered to replace the DXs? Cheers.

    What's the go with cabride's ? I've got an application in as a starting step as a Rail Operator, looking to progress to what you're doing. Would just love that opportunity to see and feel the role, ask questions from someone in the know!

      Pretty hard to get a Cabride these days where Tunnels are involved, one has to have done Tunnel gas course etc, days of just getting a Cabride are gone. How did you get on with the Job application ?

      Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of diesel power plants counts for nothing. Asked for feedback on rejection and got a copy of the same text in the rejection email... Literally a copy and paste

      @@produKtNZ I remember reading about a guy who got rejected 17 times, got through on the 18th. Also know of a guy who had loco experience, knowledge of signals etc - didn't count for anything, also rejected. I see your comment is 2 years old, what has happened since? Did you keep applying?

    why so long of break since your coal train rides? thought you must have retired.

    • @throttlejoc
      @throttlejoc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Just felt i had covered the coal route i run so stopped, then our depot got downsized in 2015 and i moved to Picton for 3 yrs 6 mths. In 2019 i got the opportunity to return to Westport so i did as we had the house there and i would travel back home from Picton on my days off. Now days it is a bit had to record unless you a go pro as we are not allowed to use cameras etc. No i haven't retired yet, still got at least 6 yrs to go
