- This is one of few remaining lines left that still had station masters controlling the switches and signals. This changed soon after the filming of this video. Join me as we journey along this historically important line, while we explore interesting aspects of it's history as well as the upcoming changes.
Lots of information on the history of the line included. Let me know what you think!

Video's with the extra information on what we are seeing and the history of the location is a great addition to already great videos. Thanks for taking the time to add in this information, it is greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your feedback
Yes, the commentary boxes are a fantastic way to learn about the railway while actually seeing what is being described. Thank you for the wonderful editing!
Thank you for all the editing and history it makes your posts very interesting, I'm constantly amazed at how clean everything is and the rail so well maintained. It must take a lot of time to add in all the new features.
All the Best from Iowa US.
Thank you very much! It makes it worth while to know people enjoy watching.
Yes, Switzerland and Austria are both very clean.
Thank you for very informative video. I'm a "train-a-holic" in Vancouver & have traveled over 250,000 km since 1955 by rail mostly in Canada on "The Canadian" but also in Australia & UK. Switzerland is a beautiful country.
27:19 - that transition on the trains on the left! Wow - that's art and attention to detail. My goodness.
😄
Thank you, this was a beautiful historic document and the annotations added real value - thanks also for the excursion over the former Dreispitz tracks, close examination of the Schweizmobil site shows the remains of the former route \m/
Danke fürs mitkommen. Bis zum nächsten mal!
A very pleasant trip, made even more so by the lovely weather. Very interesting insights into the signalling, something that I've always been interested in.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the historical and technical explanations. As always a wonderful video❤
Thank you!
Great video and the history is amazing. Thank you
Thank you for the wealth of information at the beginning of the video and once again the very relaxing drive through the beautiful landscape.🙌
Thanks for the videa and the little 'excursion' to Dreispitz. My grandfather used to work in the Basler Lagerhaus (between Dreispitz and St. Jakob) and I know the area well. Lots of memories.
That was fun. Almost like a kid with a new train set at Christmas taking it out for ride with no particular place to go.
Another very nice cabride. Love the additional video of the abandoned track. The extra information of items along the track is a welcome addition. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
Insanely cool, especially with the useful explanations and the beautiful landscapes!
Love the technical and historical information!
I've really enjoyed this video, thanks, some great scenery and good descriptions too plus I loved some of the editing techniques you used, very impressive.
Thank you very much
nice ride and great info, like the format :)
This is an excellent video and a first class example of how cab ride videos should be presented. Other channels please take note.
Wow, thanks!
I really like all the bits of information! Good work👍
I really enjoyed another great cab ride seeing the beautiful scenery and countryside of Switzerland until next time Thank You.🚂🚃🚃🇨🇭
Super, bin erneut begeistert! Ein ganz spezielles, interessantes und schönes Video. Vielen lieben Dank
Amicalement.
My father grew up in Dornach and I remember visiting the grandparents and taking the train into Basel SBB many times. Good memories.
Hallo lorirocks777. Gute Arbeit! Vielen Dank. Abonniert und geliked. Keine Frage. Freue mich auf weitere "Reisen" mit Euch. Gruss aus Brugg.
Vielen Dank, das freut mich!
Toujours de magnifique vidéos 👋

Merci beaucoup! :)
Fascinating!
I love these.
very nice and suggestive video especially in the end. Next time it would be nice if possible to redo the IC 51 section between Delémont and Basel. It would be really amazing
i always like your videos keep doing them
Tolles Video mit sehr interessanten Zusatzinformationen. Danke!
Anmerkung:

Very nice. A couple of comments:
1. I noticed the low mountainous terrain ends right after Angenstein Tunnel as we approach Aesch Station.
2. Small wonder for the health hazard at that work site. The gasoline (petrol) must have tetraethyl lead as an additive, something fairly common in that fuel by the middle 1930's.
Oh yeah, I forgot that petrol used to contain lead!
18:17 Nice to see Switzerland doing an Australia and having a bit of mixed gauge track 😅
😂
Really enjoyed this video and the addition of the information blurbs was great. The 3 paper mills in that valley was nice to learn about, especially finding out the oldest was also the last to close. Just wondering, we have seen 2 recent posts that date to 2022 and I am sure are done by you, have you retired from active train service?
Thanks for your feedback! I'm still driving - it's just faster filming than it is editing, so I have about 100 videos that I need to edit now 😂
I see that some overhead wire masts in Delémont look similar to those in my home country The Netherlands.
Super film
Very good. When the lines where electrified was it to the cost to the railway company, SBB? And did they have to pay for generation structures (dams, power stations etc.) and power distribution networks. I read that in the recent past the network became close to collapse and that is why new looking (from 2000's) power distribution and lineside substations follows the railway routes.
At 14:50 you mention a video that shows how the bridge was rebuilt but I dont see that link in the description. European rail lines have some of the best history as far back as WW1.
Further back, if you look at the long tunnels in the video that were completed in 1875! But I had to imagine the breathing hazard of a train traveling in that long of tunnel in those days (given steam locomotives could barely do 50 km/h back then).
Thanks for reminding me, I'll add that now...

What camera or settings did you use to record this video? Although it does leave things very dark in low light, it captures colors very vividly.
By the way, I don't know why I didn't discover your channel before.
As of today, you have a new subscriber.
Greetings from Spain.
Thanks. This was recorded with a GoPro 8 - the contrast has been edited.
Could you add a little audio queue when a new text bit appears? I'm watching your videos as a "second screen" and without a hint I keep missing them.
It's a good idea, but I get the feeling that if I did that, a lot of people would complain that it is disruptive.
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

What a beautiful route! Which stations are still locally controlled?
None anymore, but there are notes included throughout the trip.
Das Stellwerk ist 2 Jahre älter als ich!
What's that big windowless black building, looking like a giant wifi router, that we can see at 1:12:50?
That was a signal box (Nr. 4) that also one an award for innovation. The windows are behind the struts. It still houses all the electronics, however everything is remotely controlled from Olten. There's another one just before the main station.
Are we moving to Don Coffey levels of information?
I'm not familiar with him
wunderbahr

Still some wooden sleepers. I thought they would have been replaced long ago. But then the signal system is only now being updated so, it makes sense. 🏳🌈
Not being a content influencer I don't understand how it works but I use a VPN and when I open content it all comes in French as my isp is shown as France.
Excellent video my friends 😊awesome 😮Greeting 😁 👋🏻 from Argentina 🇦🇷 suscribete
