What a beautiful noise: Love the sound of Steam train 🚂. Thank you for sharing.
This trip was a all day experience. Brilliant!
Was on that trip! Next up I'll do the Kingston Flyer!
Thankyou Geoff for this video ❤
Great video , thanks ...😊
We were on the train. The DA was on the front for too long. Yes it was needed through Dashwood Pass due to fire risk but could have been put on the rear of train from Seddon.
greatshots.john wylie was he in kaikoura originally.i was driving there in the early 80s.cheers.peter barrett.
very nice I was able to see Da and Ja at Blenheim in the morning and evening and also saw the Ja the day before when it came up to Picton to be turn for it to run south :D
Glorious!
Magnificent
Cool video. I was on this train. Would point out that your shot editing is way out of sequence though. Heading north you have to go through the saltworks before you get to Seddon plus there's a couple of other errors.
Hi Dean, I know it isn't in perfect geographical order, it isn't meant to be National Geographic, with everything in precise order , if its easy yeah, otherwise its train footage for people to enjoy watching on the other side of the world who will have never heard of Seddon. :-)
Why did they swap the Diesel?
Due to the conditions through dashwood pass being too dry and too high of a risk of a fire starting...
Shame that the diesel was on the front for most of the trip.
I know NZ isn't the biggest of places but that's one small tender. Might as well be a tank engine.
Such a shame (for me) to see a DE leading the steam train, messing up the onboard camera footage in so doing. I know why the DE is there, but why not at the rear of the carriages.
Surely that is totally unsafe and against the rules having the deisel engine in front. you have NO visibility of the track in front of you.
Excellent video, great camera and drone work, it really was neat viewing.
