  • Go Here to Download Your Book - www.myboxingco... - There is no need to try and be a "destroyer of worlds" with every punch that you throw. Being a more dynamic boxer, varying the power of your punches, will pay dividends. These boxing training drills can help you build out 'whip hooks' at long range.
Before you can execute skills well at full speed, you need to slow things down and build out your capability using clean boxing training drills. In these boxing training drills we are learning the 'whip hook', sacrificing power for speed and building out more effectiveness for our long range work.
There are 6 simple boxing training drills that we work:
    Static feet with 3 shots
Back hand hook - advancing lead hand hook
Back hand hook - retreating lead hand hook
Back hand hook - pivot lead hand hook (advance/retreat option)
Angled side step with back hand hook
    Punching/footwork synchronisation
Focused work on boxing training drills like this will make you better at boxing...surprise surprise.

Thank you, Coach Frand Sands. I’m very blessed to have subscribed to your TH-cam channel. I have commented on your excellent videos before since I am currently a competitive boxer (with all honesty and humility, a 6X Champion Masters Amateur Boxer). I commented on your excellent analysis of Oleksandr Usyk since I am a southpaw boxer. I like your style of teaching and coaching. You teach the importance of being fundamentally sound! In fact, a great words of wisdom that you said from one of your videos is, “Slow is smooth;smooth is fast.” In fact, I mentioned that to other of my fellow boxers that you practice the fundamentals (example- properly unleashing the hook 🥊) slow at first yet perfect. Then, after you successfully master unleashing (throwing) the hook punch, you execute that technique faster and eventually faster. Thank you and God bless you ALWAYS, Coach Frand Sands.

Honestly the best coach on all of TH-cam. Was wondering if you planned on doing any videos on moving forward and punching (blitzing) or how to deal with overly defensive fighters who use distance very well. Truly appreciate all the time you put in to sharing your knowledge with us aspiring fighters.

I still like boxing. My dad used to watch fight on the wkend. I met Burt Hamilton. Then a golden gloves boxer gave me a ride in Miami . Then I met another boxer with his own gym. Burt called me Davy boy Malone. I liked it. It sounded better than spacoly

You are clearly a great coach, Fran. You seem accessible, friendly and very well informed/knowledgeable about your subject. You care about the welfare of your boxers as shown in your ebook when mentioning avoiding too many cumulative hard blows to the head. The way you’ve broken down your book and videos shows really good thought about the teaching/learning too. Wish you weren’t 270+ miles away but glad to have your vids all the same 😁

Very appealing use of the long hook side-stepping. This the very same technique called Nagashi mawashi tsuki in Karate Sendo ryu, but you integrated seamless to another boxing punches.

Very well explained! I noticed you didn’t raise the left heel when you strike the left hook. It’s an eastern european way used for speed. The kettle boiling training I practice too 😂

This video doesn't explain enough. This is video concentrates more on the jab-hook in a distance between mid and long so there is no need to turn foot over so deep. Also these hybrid hooks require footwork while throwing.

Interesting because I usually correct people when they whip hooks like that but ur explanation makes sense. Maybe teach a power hook and whip hook is ok.

I have tremendous respect for you and I find it tough to give you critique. The number system? 1-2-3 while you are actually throwing 3 and 4. You are not talking about the range. It's set out to be at long range but that is impossible to throw a hook. So it's between mid and long. You are not talking about centerline/ offset or square. You are not talking about rotation (pulling or driving). You are not talking about hip fase/shoulder fase/wrist(whip) fase. You are not talking about the purpose of the shot: is it to hurt? is it to bring the guard up and to the flank?

    • @myboxingcoach
      @myboxingcoach  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you Bruno. I always value feedback. Just on the numbering system, it's not a numbering system as such - I'm not applying a D'Amato type system. I'm articulating a sequence, if I were demonstrating a roll with footwork I would still do 1-2-3 simply as a demonstration of how many skill elements are executed rather than it being anything to do with the punches. In terms of your other observations, I think I do touch upon some of those in the video, but I suppose as coaches we will all emphasise different things, to different levels of detail at different times - that's one of the joys of coaching I suppose. Appreciate you taking the time to watch and to feedback Bruno 👍
