I have looked at "circle walking" as a substitute to leaps and shuffles for more fluid and dynamic movement to create angles and escape without traveling super far and then incorporate hooks in the spinning so I have a chance to deflect straight punches being launched at me.
I was in a street fight once and this dude Swung at me and I slipped and he swung again right after and I went right into a Roll Just a Nice Slip N Roll and I am telling you, that Alone without me throwing One Punch Took the will to fight out of him. I mean the look on his and the people there Faces was Priceless. I would say a Good 60% maybe even more of the Tough guys on the street might have a Hard Sucker Punch or haymaker in them but they have no idea of how to really fight and they get away with a lot because of being Athletic or by Sucker punching or Just Swinging Wildly and Getting Lucky but when they Find themselves up against someone they as usual underestimated and something as simple as a well Trained Slip N Roll Shocks the Hell out of them they look for ANY excuse for a way out and people who know nothing think it was an AMAZING move or something because they are so used to seeing wild Flaying and then someone falling so they think it is like you are a pro or something when I just Did BASIC Head Movement and said Come on keep em coming and he goes ah your not worth it and I was not the aggressor so I let him walk away because I ABSOLUTELY HATE Confrontation to the point where yes he swung at me but I could clearly tell that I was the better fighter just from that and he wanted none of it after that. So that is how one of the Very FEW Street fights I had ended without me throwing a Single Puch Just showed actual Skill.
Maybe I don’t listen properly but no one has ever taught me that the beginning of a roll is simply a slip. This is text book material explained in a text book manner. Wonderful. Many thanks coach Fran.
All this is great for the people who really want to be consistent with footwork. This won’t get you fast results, you need to practice everyday until the muscle memory kicks in and this becomes second nature.
the problem of kick boxing is often the trainers, the sport is great but often guys R not schooled well on the fondamentales. too many self claimed trainers and some country R worst than others
@@bigomar777 true that, I had a great coach, and would have continued if he kept doing it but yes , alot of offensive not if defensive , still I learned greatly from him. Keep you're damn hands up!!! 👍
Great video. Showed to a bunch of Young kids who wanted to be the next TH-cam boxers it helped them realise, real boxing is a true sweet science and you explained it so well. Thanks.
Fran is making it look a lot easier. Great teacher. He is a pro. I am 70 and now i am interested in boxing ?We didn't have this when i was younger. Utube
Thank you for explaining the mechanics of the inside slip going away and the outside slip moving forward. I have never seen it illustrated so clearly. Can you please show some combinations using these actions?
Been watching your videos for a while. Really appreciate the calm style and brevity. Maybe I missed it but do you have a video on a big overhand right from an orthodox boxer? I feel like I am finally getting the feel for committing a lot but not too much to the punch and was looking for one of your videos about it but couldnt find one.
this is the way I was also taught to pivot and bob and weave not bob and weave from the waist up your whole body works together as one your defense sets up your offense good lesson coach
Mister Fran Sanz …you have to an unspoken genius I am watching you and you are absolutely excellent…I have a serious question..i a, 53 years old now a old boxer and I don’t have access to strong legs..can you please give me some tips for boxers without mobility ..please I thank you very much…I never lost a fight but I’m afraid these young guys will get me one day
Being hard to hit is a skill one is born with.. it’s a natural ability that not everyone can do.. Everyone doesn’t have the same reflexes, senses, quickness, balance and SPEED..
Great way to explain th basics, now I have a better idea how to slide some quick jabs after blocking a hit. It's more on your feet than on your hands or arms!
I have scoliosis and what he says is true. Good slipping, ducking, and rolling shouldn't affect your back very much at all. It's all in the legs essentially. Your back may come into play with ducking and tucking your chin to extreme degrees (if and when necessary to roll some hooks), otherwise let your legs thrive.
I'm related to a fighter known as the,Phantom of Philadelphia" He was quite famous. His style was hit and don't get hit. This sort of tuition is missing from a lot of boxing training. Two examples of modern fighters who are world class at it are Usyk and Lomochenko. Footwork is vital! Great video.
When there's something strange in the neighborhood, who you gonna call? Ghost Boxer! When there's something weird and it don't look good, who you gonna call? Ghost Boxer!
Fantastic Vid! very well explained and great drills for all levels. Always like to go back to basics as I find boxers can lose these fundamental rules at all levels. As my coach says keep it simple. Also that matt your using is great, where do you get it from?
Could you make a video on Ricardo Lopez and his amazing jab? Also maybe on the new way of combos from the old ways of mike Tyson? A gym I spar at tells me throwing a 2 and moving to south pas to slip on my right side, is bad. However all there boxers I caught with this and end back up in Orthodox and have a better positioning. I start south paw and combo into orthodox and it seems like coaches dislike going to south paw but it steps me up in a great position to start off my rhythm and throw there's off
That's a great suggestion on Lopez, definitely on my list. Different coaches have different ways. I suppose for me it's about explaining risk. If you try things and they work well then build it into your techniques. There will be risk, but there's risk in everything we do isn't there.
I got a lower back injury that makes it difficult for me to make most of these movements so I got to look for alternate moves like dodging from side to side, leaning back or shoulder rolling, any suggestions?

This is great I wish I lived closer to your area .id definitely go to your gym
Footwork (proper footwork) is the most overlooked and under-trained aspect of any martial art. AWESOME video, thank you so much for posting !!

Not true but okay
@@JohnEpresent What he said is true. Only boxing really trains footwork in spades.

It's hard enough to do all those moves correctly as they are and he does them while talking and the video has no breaks , that is next level.

Definitely. And slot of leg work...burpees and sprint,/run for endurance 🙏
Add squats, lunges and skip rope exercises

Watch fencing and maybe look into colonel Monastery I think there's a lot you could get out of it footwork wise
