Sugarcane consumes lot of drinking water and reduce water table
Bamboo cultivation is exactly opposite and this too gives Ethanol. Even waste water is good for bamboo.

I understand that BJP has done a lot of things that were great but they also destroyed the economy with demonetisation and the forever confusing GST. Modi himself said that criticism and freedom of speech is a must for a proper democracy, while at the same time he destroys the right to information act and his buddies (adani and Ambani) literally buy up everything and create monopolies. If you can brag about all the good things then you should have the decency to own up to the shortcomings. (Not going to mention about the Manipur or 2002 riots)

There is a simple solution to the biggest biofuel problem here is to shift the production of ethanol to states where water is in excess. For example - Red rice also need huge consumption of water, and Assam is the biggest producer of red rice in India because the state has so much water that every year it faces flooding.

We have already developed 2G ethanol technology at a commercial scale. This is based on agri waste i.e. rice husk which is otherwise burnt in fields and causes pollution. IOCL has set up 2G ethanol refinery at Panipat. Various feedstock combinations other than sugarcane are currently under development.

    • @commieTerminator

Any idea why govt seems allergic to 3G biofuels?
Bio-petrol and biodiesel don't even need a newer engine technology. A 3G biofuel source like seaweed doesn't even consume fresh water and it grows way faster than sugarcane and yields bio crude oil which can be refined into various petroleum products

I'm based in Europe where we can find E85 fuel at a lot of petrol stations. Ford is a big producer of E85 compatible vehicles and inexpensive conversion kits exist to enable other vehicles to be able to take in E85. Yet there does not seem to be much uptake. I see more a push for electric vehicles and increasing adoption. But even here I'm not too sure on the recyclability of end-of-life batteries, nor on the safe disposal of these technologies. On the flip side, ethanol as a fuel could create food-crisis by increasing costs of staples such as corn, sugar etc.

One way to manage the demand side of ethanol powered automobiles can be to chart a roadmap for consumers explaining how the increase in price of one vehicle is almost null because the petrol will be cheaper and ultimately the money they would otherwise spend on a fully petrol driven car will be far less than ethanol.
This is an assumption that can be beautified for a layman’s dictionary.

While ethanol-fueled cars have some advantages, they also come with several downsides:
    1. Reduced fuel economy: Ethanol contains less energy per gallon compared to gasoline, leading to lower fuel efficiency. This means you'll need to refuel more often, offsetting some of the cost savings.
    2. Limited availability: Not all gas stations offer ethanol blends, so finding a convenient refueling station can be challenging in some areas.
    3. Corrosion and engine damage: Ethanol can be corrosive to certain engine components and fuel system parts, potentially leading to increased maintenance costs and shorter engine lifespan if the vehicle isn't designed to handle ethanol blends.
    4. Lower energy content: Ethanol has a lower energy density than gasoline, which can result in reduced overall vehicle performance, especially in terms of acceleration and power.
    5. Water absorption: Ethanol is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs water from the environment. This can lead to phase separation in the fuel tank and cause engine problems, especially in older vehicles.
    6. Land use and environmental concerns: The production of ethanol often involves growing crops like corn, which can lead to land-use changes and environmental issues, such as deforestation and increased pesticide use.
    7. Limited range: Due to ethanol's lower energy content, vehicles may have a shorter driving range on a full tank compared to gasoline.
    8. Price fluctuations: Ethanol prices can be volatile, depending on factors like crop yields and government policies, which can make budgeting for fuel costs more unpredictable.
    9. Cold weather performance: Ethanol can be problematic in very cold temperatures, as it can cause fuel system components to freeze or lead to difficulties starting the engine.
Overall, while ethanol can offer some benefits, it also presents challenges and trade-offs that consumers and automakers need to consider when choosing a fuel source.

If we are able to reduce our dependence on crude oil by increasing the ethanol content in fuel, will the demand for electric vehicles be hindered by the reduced fuel cost?

    • @nitienvats8257
      @nitienvats8257 ปีที่แล้ว

Who said prices of fuel will be reduced, it will never. There used to be big differences in price of petrol, diesel and CNG and all have reached at almost the same level. If crude price falls then also there is no reduction in prices (though in theory petroleum prices are deregulated and depends on market prices).
So only govt will benefit from this as it will save its Dollars, but common people will suffer, as food inflation will increase, and people's with vehicles have low mileage but costly vehicles.
And what will be the maintenance cost of those flex fuel vehicles ?
I am personally waiting for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, as it will be the cleanest and cheapest fuel available.

Bamboo presents a compelling solution to supply-side challenges. It boasts remarkable water efficiency in comparison to sugarcane, exhibiting an extended lifespan of 80-120 years after initial planting. Certain bamboo species can yield as much as 50-100 tons per acre annually. India's tropical climate provides an ideal environment for bamboo cultivation, capable of thriving in diverse soil types, including high-salinity soils. Furthermore, bamboo surpasses sugarcane in ethanol production while exhibiting rapid growth, outpacing most other plant species on Earth. It also contributes significantly to oxygen production, surpassing other plants by 35%, consequently aiding in carbon dioxide sequestration from the atmosphere.
Prominent figures such as Mr. Nitin Gadkari have highlighted bamboo's potential in various conferences. I encourage you to consider creating a dedicated video on this specific topic 😊

    And checking for alternatives like
    Ethanol,Electricity and Hydrogen fuel
Each of them have challenges but among these three which is going to be good and more potential, cost effective and so on to India.
Because ethanol needs crops which consume more water
