GDP -gross domestic product refers to the total value of goods and services produced in a country in a year.
Now what makes the GDP of India so high?
India is a developing country which needs to spends a large amount of money in fulfilling the basic infrastructure and other requirements, this makes the value of goods and services produced in the country high .
But GDP does not convey about richness of a country ,it is per capita income which is the deciding factor.
Per capita income is the average income accruing to an individual of the country.
      Per capita income=total income÷population.
This Makes per capita income income inversely proportional to population and population of India is very large which makes the per capita income low despite having large GDP and thus India is not rich

China's has significant capex investments outside the country and most of that are dead investments. Example CPEC, Sri Lanka Port, Africa, One Belt Road, etc. However, India is focusing on building its own infrastructure rather venturing into outside world unnecessarily and without having strategic goal. Hence, request to include such points while comparing the data for better insight.
Also, I have learned that China's capex investment within the country is also kind of back fired. That's the reason right balance and right choice is required while considering capex investment as this are large in numbers & long payback time. Regular consumption (Non-capex) can be reversed through various reforms and changes however reversing the capex investment will have huge risk and loss.

    • @mananmehta6910
      @mananmehta6910 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes it has backfired completely. During 2008 financial crisis the government spent a lot on building their infrastructure to keep up the jobs & keep the economy running(through cement, steel etc.) That's how they built routes of high speed rail networks which were totally financially unviable & amassed a 1 trillion dollar+ debt just from their high speed rail network

    Couple of questions
    1) Can the real estate crisis in China be attributed to extremely high GFCF (as a % of GDP)?
    2) Given that Private Consumption constitutes 60% of GDP(similar to US), do we still need to operate at GFCF >40% ?

Excellent point, mate. Not just that, there are multiple channels on YT (and in the news) that advise people to not take CCP’s words by face value.
They’re infamous for inflating various factors that contribute to their GDP - sometimes outright lying. Much of the ‘facts and figures’ posted by China could very well be a lie, including their various success stories.

The problems you highlighted are important and critical, almost got me worried. But at the end listening Government is actively working on these issues brought a smile to my face. Because many countries i have seen mess up their economic growth and don't even take necessary actions needed to make the economy better. Some Govts even refuse to acknowledge the problems. So I am glad BJP is paying attention and actively trying to improve in all metrics.
Guys reading this, never again vote for Congress else we are doomed. I don't even care if you call me a Bhakt.. i am more concerned and want to be optimistic about our India's future. China's time has passed, this can be our time.. if we can bring about the changes needed ( no matter how hard they are )

From citing reports to citing your own videos to explain concepts better, think school has definitely come a long way.
Been your audience from the very first video, and haven't missed a single one since.
Think School is something much more than case studies on economics, businesses, geopolitics, etc.
The way you combine micro & macro economic perspectives by explaining how govt policies affect an individual citizen and how the rise of an individual's working & living standards contributes to national progress, I feel that Think School is on a mission to educate & inspire people to think of their national progress while working for their own welfare.
Keep making an impact, a larger one with every episode!

Hi Ganesh, I slightly disagree on Gross Fixed Capital Formation. Private sector in china have taken so much loan and put it into expansion that now they are struggling for eg. Real state business, millions of houses are empty. You have seen companies like ever grande were near to collapse. this is very bad for banks and the economy. So we can say high Gross Fixed Capital Formation is good for high GDP numbers but it can really hurt the economy in long term. In my opinion India is going with good pace, it will insure slow but robust growth which will be sustainable in long term.
