      Pan TheOrganizer Like many viewers here I have always been buying car stuffs to DIY and before buying anything I would do my homework by searching TH-cam. After watching countless videos, I find your comparison the most comprehensive, easiest to comprehend and sincere. Your videos are also not too lengthy. Maybe you can do more comparisons between Soft99 products (smooth egg platinum, King of Gloss etc) with some American products as I personally find Soft99 products really good and inexpensive. I layer them on my Carpro Cquartz cos their waterbeading is insane.

      Don’t forget, this headlights kit is meant for light to moderate oxidation. For very oxidized headlights, that are super milky white or yellow, you might need to use the traditional method of water sanding, machine polishing, IPA wipe and ceramic coating.

      @PanTheOrganizer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was good for about 8-9 months. This is meant for a quick improvement on light to moderate levels of oxidation. Super easy to use, no tools. If headlights are super yellow and oxidized and cloudy, I would recommend the full water sanding, machine polishing and ceramic coating route, which obviously takes more time and tools.

      As I clearly mentioned in the video, this kit is not to get absolute perfection. What it does is give a dramatic difference and good results with no power tools, very quick to do, visible difference, and super inexpensive. DIY solution that many will appreciate. Of course for ultimate results, a full restoration with sanding blocks, power tools, polisher, and more intense labor will always be perfection. ;)

    Hey bud. I personally have restored hundreds of headlights. The kit you used is ok for mildly oxidized headlight. I recommend the 3M kit with a 3 step dry/wet sand method and finishing compound. I always use a good ceramic coating after the compound and so far I've never had a headlight that I couldn't render back to ORIGINAL clarity and shine. Love your videos. You're the man Pan!

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Steven, this kit is meant for light to moderate oxidation levels. It's simply meant for a DIY application, for someone who doesn't have the tools, time or experience, to dramatically improve the appearance of their headlights in a matter of minutes. But of course, for heavily oxidized headlights, I always recommend a full water sanding, machine compound and polish, IPA, and then a ceramic coat application.

    It looked like a lot of the scratches were left over on the headlights at the end. RainX sells a product very similar to this but it comes with 4 different sanding surfaces, the last two are a much finer grit. I think it does a much better job of smoothing the clear down so you don't get those visible scratches. But they both have similar results in any case. Great video Pan!

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! Again, these DIY kits aren't meant (in my opinion) to achieve perfection. There's so much a $10 kit and spending less than 20 minutes can do. For perfection, you need more tools, products and need to spend more money obviously. This is a good solution for those who don't have too much experience, and who simply are looking for a quick and inexpensive way to enhance the look of their headlights without the use of tools.

      Yes this is still a good option. Just keep in mind tool-less kits like this are meant for light oxidation (like the demo in the video). If the headlights are super oxidized, heavy milky white or yellow faded appearance, at that point only a full restoration with water sanding, machine polishing and ceramic coating will do.

      Paint correction doesn't restore chips (missing material). Paint correction is meant to remove swirls, scratches and oxidation. If you machine polish the headlights, you will be removing some of the protective UV coating on top to prevent them from yellowing and oxidizing, so you'll have to apply a ceramic coating when you're done, if you decide to polish them.

So, with this in mind, will this product result in my tailights too? I have a 2011 Mazda 3 with clear plastic tailligths similar to your video headlights. And yes you can restore headlights and tail lights with a kit like this. Keep in mind this simple DIY kit is made for very light to moderate oxidation. If you have heavily oxidized and yellowed headlights, it's best to use a traditional restoration method of water sanding, machine polishing, etc.

      This kit is more for DIY and light to medium oxidation, and is tool-less so meant for simplicity, so steps aren't like the traditional professional headlight restoration steps.
      For heavy oxidation, you would start with wet sanding, then compound, then polish, then IPA wipe, then apply a ceramic coating. That's the ultimate level.

Lots of my clients have requested their headlights to be properly restored and this Turtle Wax product has been my only choice of product because of the excellent results. Doing detailing as a side job for 6 years I have also used for the last 10 years on my cars their 2 in 1 headlights cleaner and sealant, unbeatable product and price. Thanks for the video and the link to the kit. I'm glad to see that restoring the headlights is so easy, but I have a question and a suggestion. Question: why do you use a polish and then sand. The sanding completely negates all the polishing, since the polish is a much finer abrasive than the sandpaper. Why not just skip the first polish step and do the polishing after the sanding? Suggestion:when sanding, I have always added a drop or 2 of dish soap to a spray bottle of water. The soap helps lubricate the sandpaper just a little bit more than plain water withoutstopping the sandpaper from working and helps keep it from loading up from the particulates that you are sanding off.

      If the headlights are ok (not yellow or oxidized) and you applied a coating on them, then you don't need the Turtle Wax kit. This kit is to restore faded headlights.

  • @coachcashmoney
    @coachcashmoney 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you think that kit would work on headlights that are badly yellow? For example on a 2006 truck that has never been parked in a a garage and the headlights were never treated with anything.

      @PanTheOrganizer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can certainly try. It depends how bad they are. Maybe you're at the point of needing a full blown restoration with water sanding, different grits of sand paper, machine polishing, ceramic coating, etc.

    Off topic : Plz let me know when should be degreaser used for stripping old wax/coating/sealants ? Before washing vehicle or after ?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Purple Power Vehicle and Boat Wash snow foam as part of my pre-wash routine with my foam cannon. Then I wash the car with a stripping soap like Adam's Strip Wash. But even those two powerful soaps aren't always enough to fully remove waxes or sealants. What really ensures 100% removal is machine polishing.

    Got improved good clarity in headlights but Whoa, using left scratches! Felt like I used the instructions well. What am I missing? Watched several videos on this subject but not much mentioning of scratches left behind by sanding pads.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Any sanding pad will leave scratches, that's the nature of using abrasives. But you start with the most agressive pad, in one direction, and then continue with the next less agressive sanding disc in the other direction. After that, you use the clarifying compound. That's meant to remove sanding marks and further refine the surface.
      It's the exact same principle when water sanding paintwork. The sanding blocks leave marks behind. You refine those with a compound. And to remove the compound marks, you use a polish. So you're doing from very coarse (sanding blocks), to coarse (compound), to fine (polish).

      @@PanTheOrganizer Thanks for the reply. After an hour the scratches did soften up. Looking at a couple of more tid bits in places and they talked about what you mentioned. I’m a newb to detailing so I want to clarify… after using the turtle wax with lens restoration the lens should be ran back over with a compound and polish to reduce the scratches from sanding?

      If they are too yellow/oxidized a professional restoration might be a better option.

    After sanding can you use a ceramic hybrid spray like McGuire's or even graphene instead of ceramic coating for similar effect?
