It's not anyone's job to try to keep abreast of all sorts of random things that other entities are doing, just on the off chance you may deal with them some day. So no, he shouldn't have just known because he shares a characteristic with someone (being in a band). Fandom grifters (primarily far-left ones) will move onto the next host and kill it, the social clout and validation matters more to them than the actual work in question. You'll have random games that blow up for no discernible reason on social media now, and people will consume it (and generally still hate it) because they want to be in on the current thing.
We're in a day and age where game developers get death threats sent to them for daring to stick up for fanartists that get death threats from people in their community. It's absolutely tiring. Reddit's existence, how moderation works (essentially if you don't kowtow to their strict guidelines, they will replace the subreddit moderators with ones without the community's best interests in mind), and the brigading (for example, with gaming, especially from places like r/GamingCirclejerk) doesn't help matters.

Even if Adam himself wouldn't check everything, which is totally fair, I would assume there are other people doing that for him. I'm not in the music business myself but I think I'd like to know if someone has some controversy around them before working together with them, because of situations like this or because those people are the types I don't want to be around. I think management should be responsible for looking up issues with bands on the same tour. Not everybody wants to jump online and Google other people. From a business sense, the people responsible for the business/bands best interest and PR, etc, needs to step up. Blaming Adam for not doing research on a band or person in case there is a looming issue is putting responsibility on the wrong person/entity. Some people don't want to do this or feel like they should. Just saying it "takes 2 seconds to look this up" may be true but again, there are some of us who just don't feel like this should be a necessary step to being a part of a lineup/tour. My 2 cents with this. It's a shame Adam is leaving Oceano as a result of this - or what looks like the result of this issue. He is an excellent singer with a unique sound/delivery.

I'm blaming whoever booked Oceano on the tour. Adam seems to be an artist who just wants to fucking do music and be left in peace, and honestly also pretty naive when it comes to the internet and perception of these kinda things. I absolutely believe him that he didn't have the feintest clue and would have expected to be informed about something like that. So whoever was responsible for the booking must know Adam, and therefore should absolutely 100% know that he needs to do his job right, research the bands on tour, and give Adam a freaking rundown before signing anything.
I am also 100% sure that some, if not many, of the people who complained most vocally didn't know ANY of the stuff about Attila or Dealer, probably didn't even know the bands (at least not Dealer), but saw an uproar flair up and decided that they have to jump on the wagon and spread hate. It's just the fucking world we live in, especially on social media, and it's frustrating and sad, and I can fully understand Adam being defeated and just resigning from it all.

@TankTheTech You summarized this very well. Personally I appreciate all the points you made, they're all valid.
Quick story --- On and off over the years I've been involved in booking local music shows. A few years ago I asked a band to play a venue and they declined the offer. One of the members called me personally (meaning off the record) and said the real reason the band declined the offer was due to the fact that the rest of the band members were uncomfortable with some political statements made by the venue owner.
He respected me enough to tell me the truth knowing I would never say a word about it to the owner or anyone else in the music scene (which I never did) and that he wanted to be clear it did not mean he would not being willing to book shows at other venues. In turn I respected him for telling me the truth and he booked other shows with me at other venues.
While it is not the exact same situation that you discussed in this video. I thought it would be a good parallel story to your point of doing due diligence.
Be well and if you have thoughts on this story I'd love to hear them if you have time to reply. 🤘

I'm going to come out as the business oriented person here but the commonality of things like this happening calls into question the people being hired by bands to handle their business affairs. It is seen as sort of a rule of thumb that anytime an agreement is presented to a business; the business ALWAYS takes time to research the opportunity, who's providing that opportunity, and what potential risks are involved with agreeing. When a person or a company is presented with a contract; it's standard practice to have that contract reviewed by an expert. I can respect Adam's choice to limit his online habits but if their management didn't pull the band into a planning meeting regarding potential tours and the like; then, in my opinion, the band should have sought new representation. It seems to me that a lot of bands are hiring incompetent management and then facing backlash for poor decision making. That's my big take away; a lot more bands are being screwed by the people that they're hiring than the fans know. However, I find it also kinda dumb that Adam is having the reaction he is; if his band is decent and well behaved then they should have pulled back from the internet for a bit and allowed the shit talking to take it's course because it's temporary thing. That's just my opinion though.

Something to note with agents, agents have a specific legal part to them, managers might fall under this too. But an Agent is working for the band/artist in a legal sense, that means they are speaking on behalf of the band, so if it is their agent, they are responsible for what the agent does. The way this comes up most often is things like construction and logistics companies, employees are agents of the business (especially when acting for the business) and so when they are driving the company vehicle down the road with the company logos all over it, the business is responsible for when they crash, or get a DUI, the driver is often responsible as well, but that does not remove liabilities from the employer.
Here his agent probably should have informed them of this stuff, but they are responsible of holding their agent to that and should give them a warning and if that isn't enough a firing and find a new one.
Nothing against Adam personally, and I know a lot of people running smaller businesses do not understand these intricacies.

I feel so bad for Adam and he doesn’t deserve the backlash at all, however I also feel bad for oceano fans that weren’t trying to be malicious or anything, but instead just didn’t want to see there favorite band on a tour with Attila and Dealer so they made a comment about it about how upset they are about it without blaming Adam.

I dont like this culture we have where an innocent party is made to take on the crimes of someone else just because they booked a tour with them. Or choosing to still listen to a problematic music act makes you a rapist by association.
People just look for a socially acceptable outlet to get angry at and forget that theres a fellow human on the other end.
This is a big reason why i left the NYC metal community, rarely go to shows now and keep my spotify private.
I hate that every decision a human makes, from where to buy coffee to what one chooses to wear is fraught with political choice one might not know that they are making. Who has time to look up everything they use or consume for problematics? Its like when i was younger and you had to carefully look up what was kosher or not. Now we have to do the same to make sure we arent supporting genocide or a rapist. Who has time for such observances other than kids stuck on their phones all day?
I totally get why Oceano chose to give up. In a planet where everything is now a dire, high stakes, no win situation, its just easier to peace out.
And im saying this as a queer nonbinary woman. This planet needs to fucking chill.

That is indeed the world we live in. Someone can commit fraud on you and you are supposed to "just know". Someone can make an accusation about you and with no evidence a group of people will assume you did exactly what the accusation is and all the while the person making the accusation can bask in the limelight of our victim centric society where we have made victimhood something to aspire too for social media cred, money and fame OR they can just slink back into the unknown watching with a cackle at the damage they have caused.
When you read back through history realize, this thing in people that wants to lash out without evidence is why things like the Salem Witch Trials were a thing in the first place. Its the exact same mental headspace.

What some people may fail to realize, especially those living in the Twitter cesspool, is that not everyone does a moral-check before listening to a band, or for that matter searching a band up at all. Music is still music and since the dawn of spotify it's easier than ever to get to listen to new bands without ever knowing who they are, what they do etc. I mean it's like a individualized MTV. I get my recommendations and I press like if I do in fact like a song, which in turn will usually result in me getting more music of the band, which is when I'll likely read the name once and then forget about it again until other songs make it into my playlists.
Controversy is something you either get through bigger news outlets, if you even consume them, through actively looking for it, or if mainstream media catches on and it blows up big time.
I, and pretty much everyone I know in real life, simply doesn't do background checks or care for the individuals in a band. I won't look up anything until I realize that band x has been in my feed quite often, but even then I rather go on their spotify band page to specifically look up all their albums and give a dedicated listen through. This cultist behavior of following and checking upon the individuals is something I consider a thing of pop culture, not metal culture. I'm not a fan of the individuals, but the band. couldn't even say the name of the AC/DC singer without googling it, let alone some fringe band that plays a style I may not even listen to.
If I don't see it in mainstream news/outlets or here, I will simply never know. Like the Rammstein stuff for example, that has been dragged through every media outlet around here, but even then, I was about 5 weeks behind when I got the news. With As I Lay Dying I got to know all the stuff pretty much through the As I Broke Up debacle in the last weeks.
Sometimes I may find out something because I wanna know if there's something new coming from a band, google them and then sit there like **surprised pikachu face**. Lost Prophets was like that for me, too. Didn't find them on spotify, started to rip the CDs I have to have them on my PC and while doing that looked up what became of them. got very surprised and disgusted. Would I stream, and give them money through it, today? Absolutely not. Do I listen to the albums I paid for over a decade ago? Yeah, absolutely. It already financed them. Not listening does nothing except tzhat I can't listen to songs that were and are an important part of my youth.
There's only so much time in life and going fanboy stalker is something I don't have the time or will for. I just checked my spotify if I have some Attila or Dealer stuff in my liked songs, which I had, one for each, not enough to actually know their names. I threw them both out.
It's about how people deal with things when they find out, not when others know about it. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth when the twitter cesspool seems to think because they know something, everyone else has to, too. Even if they are somewhat within the industry. If Twitter isn't your hobby or part of your job, it's quite easy to never get to know anything that makes the news there.
I also don't know Oceana, sooo nothing really lost to me here, but on a principal level, having people leave a band or a band breaking up because they didn't know something some other people did or do to it's full extend, or at all, that's something I really don't like.
Thanks for reading my TED talk.

in saying this, i was drinking at a show so my memory could be false but i will still say what i believe happened. i went to a show with Oceano on the lineup 6ish years ago and was super excited to see them because the other time i saw them i got a bloody nose and was taken outside by security so they could make sure i was okay. once the show was over and people were clearing out, i saw adam at a merch booth for another band, waiting in line to purchase something. i went up to him and said great show and asked for a picture kind of abruptly. with all smiles he agreed, waited for me to fumble with my phone to get the pic. he took it with all smiles, i thanked him for a great show then left. besides him being patient and cool with me, the guy was literally acting like he was a fan at the show, in line buying merch instead of trying to get something for free from another band. one of the nicest guys in a band i very much like that ive ever encountered.

The whole Fronz thing... yeah, I can believe him on that. The fact that nothing happened legally and he fessed up to what happened and explained it, I can totally believe his explanation. I don't think he's in the wrong there, at least... not enough to warrant thinking he's a shitty person. Sleeping with fans is still kinda fucked up, but I don't think it warrants a cancellation and he did everything he could to try to make sure all was good. Keep in mind, though... I know nothing of Fronz outside of the accusations. I don't listen to his band's music, I don't follow him at all. All I know about him is the allegation.
The AIDAN situation, though... that's harder for me. There's way too many things lining up there for me to give him the benefit of the doubt there. I'm not sure how I feel about it. This whole situation definitely sucks though... I understand people's anger towards not wanting someone who's really sketchy in a tour, but it's also not your tour. Just don't go.

The Spiritbox thingy was definitely their fans. Denying Spiritbox, that at the time wasn't very big, the opportunity to get massive publicity and earn money is disgusting at best. Also judging people on rumours is disgusting and thank God defamation lawsuits are in the works. Look what benefit Stp have had since they joined the FIR tour, they are Lorna big now due to the simple fact that people not in the scene got exposed to them trough that tour and trough Alex's part in Ronald. Too sad Spiritbox, as a small band then, had too soft a spine to stand up for themselves. Now the fans know they own them. Look at what fans did with the Bad Omens European tour...They didn't officially break up but have we seen them since? They only will appear as a support for the one Linkin Park support and then go back home. Trust me, Bad Omens is done for and it's all because of the fans.

Alternative, spiritbox are doing just fine and don't need to ride on the coat tails of a piece of shit to achieve success. Fan pressure aside, I believe them dropping out was ultimately a good thing, and it's clear if there was any adverse effects, sure wasn't anything noticeable.
