  • Tiger Shrimp (wild type) is one of the easiest species of Caridina shrimp to care for in the aquarium hobby. This species of tiger shrimp has black and white stripes on its body, much like a tiger, with a little splash of orange tangerine color near its tail.
Tiger shrimp are easy to care for and can live in a wider variety of water parameters (pH 6 to 8, temperature 60-85 F or 16-29 C). For feeding, they can feed on decaying plant matter and algae forming naturally in the aquarium. We currently feed them around 1 algae wafer per week, and do a 15% water change once a week.
Tiger shrimp are small enough to live in a nano planted tank of 3 to 5 gallons. The plants will help to absorb ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates in the aquarium. For substrate, we are currently using black diamond blasting sand, as well as some coral chips for buffering and water hardness.
