Locus Shadow Squad is lighter and faster action, Arma is first planning tactics, then moving into position then attack and try to stay alive and do your orders

As a new player myself and having gotten pretty "good" (meaning: not dying every four seconds) at it I suggest doing the training simulation. It is vital. After you have done that and have gotten used to the basics and whatnot, you just have to jump into the game and start playing. :)

Play through as much of the "Showcases" as you can. You will learn TONS from that. Also, there are like a gazillion tube videos on ARMA 3, including tutorials. It's a HUGE game, with lots of complexity. Tackle it like you might trying to eat a giant cake all by yourself... one bite at a time ;)
I'm in the military...and I never knew the difference between V and Delta formation. Being in the military doesn't mean squat in games imo. Don't destroy me in the comments *covers head*

They were using formation? I get that no plans survives first contact but most of that combat made me cringe. They were all over the shop and had pretty much no initiative at all. If that wasn't AI, and the En could actually organise themselves, they'd have been cut down in seconds. There was a spot there when he ran INFRONT of the gun...are you mad, Always peel BEHIND the fire line, never in front. A gunner engaging most likely wont have the SA to see you about to walk a meter in front of his muzzle, and could very easily give it a burst.
I think mostly infantry an what not use "delta" and such. Us pogs just said wedge column lol.
Yeah they're pretty similar. The delta formation is just the v formation but with another aircraft (birds don't use the delta formation as far as I know) behind the front leader aircraft.

I wonder... If a mil sim game like this had incredibly realistic damage in the future, would people want to play it? Like, getting shot in a hand preventing you from using anything heavy. Getting shot in the leg slows you down tremendously, or at best makes you limp. Shot in the heart, spine, or the brain (not just the head) is instant death. And maybe even getting shot in a major vein or artery might cause you to lose health rapidly. I feel like people would just quit after being debilitated once or twice.
This already exists, it's called ACE3 mod
Mods exist to make this possible in a lot of AAA games with mod capability. For example: Skyrim, Fallout 4, Arma 3. I'm sure there are more, but those are three that I've personally tried out.
game such as escape from tarkov helps fuel that idea only thing is you have to gather weapons and supplies through raids, they’re like mini battle royales but whatever loot you acquire you HAVE to escape from a rally point and need to eyeball the map and know your directions and if you make it out you have that if you don’t it’s gone bud

I LOVE that the Angle of Attack indicator in that jet actually worked during his approach to the carrier. Excellent detail.
Good interaction with enemy contacts. This was better than watching a platoon of players for 2 hours and encountering less than 10 contacts.

I'm a 60-year-old U.S. Navy Disabled Veteran (Plane Captain) and I'm also just learning to play Arma 3 Apex. I also bought all the DLC's for Arma. I was on the USS America and the USS Enterprize Aircraft Carrier's when I was in the Navy. I'm looking for a crew who can beat me with a stick till I learn how to play Arma!!!!

I know it's just a game but since it's a mil sim if you want to clear a building or room NEVER stop in the door way it's the kill zone push in and immediately to a corner and the guy behind can cover the opposite corner that way there is no cross fire and you can get more than one gun in the room
