Arma 3 is such a unique game in my eyes. some of the shots from the guys on the ground as the little bird strafes and circles round. What other game actually has that realistic flight and combat model . It just looks insane.
Check out the Project Reality mod for BF2 or it's spiritual successor squad. They are really the only pub style PVP games where I've had that experience. Squad is finally getting helos too. Will always remember calling in CAS to wreck some insurgents and allow us to move. The beauty of ArmA though is freedom you have in terms of content. Allowing you to tailor the scenario exactly to your taste.
Now this is a video I can get onboard with!! Loving the piloting, great stuff Drew. Also cool editing how you put all the different perspectives together!
@@ludicrousgaming9874 They probably could, but they don't since it's real life and you don't do shit like that in real life (at least not for very long).
Armas tacicle nature and freedom gives space for awsome moments that you might find in a singleplayer cod campaine. Eg a little bird flying over head while you storm a hill.
Joint missions like these, with air and ground video, _are the coolest!_ Or just getting more perspectives in general is really cool. Wish there was a way to record movement too, so you could pinpoint key moments and get God's perspective on it too, but I guess currently the best solution is a server observer user, but then you need another client, and possibly another machine just for that.
In the book Guts and Gunships, the Hog Pilot said all of them would party together in 'Nam after hours. The Loach (the little bird's dad) Pilots would stay by themselves he figured because of all the losses. The Army wouldn't let you switch from flying the Loach to Hueys until you were shot down SEVEN times.
Insane realism for a game. Only thing I noticed that was off is the rotor wash. If he was flying that low (in the beginning) the amount of dust kicked up would completely blind the drivers. Crazy how real these games are getting.
Trying to get back into Arma and was a little bummed that III in vanilla has such futuristic assets. What mods are you using to being in real world vehicles?
2035 ain’t that far off bro, US right now in 2021 are experimenting with 6.8mm ammo, in Arma they have 6.5mm weapons, my problem is the downgrade NATO had. O/A/MH-6s are replaced by the A/MH-9 which is a bit of a downgrade on my opinion as it follows a more minimalistic design, other assets are pretty the same. We do get the Comache though
One thing: can you put the name of the person when switching pov in subtitles? If done right it gives you much better awareness who's who. Love the transitions already tho!
Tell that one guy to stop having his radio set for yelling jesus christ. My ears they hurt. First i cannot hear a Jamie so I turn volume up then this guy start talking...
i second this. Great gameplay, but, when using other's audio/video you really have to keep the volume the same. Other wise you earrape the viewers haha
Arma 2 / 3 make the best videos. The editing was a bit intense switching between all of the views, it must have taken a lot of effort to put it all together in sequence like that and it was great fun to watch so 10/10.
It's really bad to just have the helictoper follow infantry like that, it lets the enemy know where your infantry or any allied vehicle is coming from and, the noise from the heli can be very distracting and disorientating.
David Bruno personally during the operation drew provided much needed CAS as well as intel. i can easily say that it was worth him following us like that. the enemy already knew our position first hand so therefore his helicopter didn’t change anything except help.
@@joshuab1449 I think for intel gathering it would've been much more effective to have a wide loiter circle high above ground, not good against the amount of enemy fire though.(Small arms fire should be nothing if you're 300m up though, just watch the possibility of AA and MANPADS) Some of the things he did though we're not so great. The Heli has to keep moving, else you're an incredibly easy target. The landing he did was not a good choice, (Not even sure why he did it) and some of his manuevers costed him a lot of speed, just to show off near infantry, which could've been deadly for him and the infantry. Alas the shots were accurate and the cover he sometimes took when not engaging was good, and the low flight style definitely aided his ability to be more reactive to the engagements and what infantry needed him for, but some of the things he did could've costed him a lot several times. Good gameplay though, I did enjoy it.
Doge With It I agree with some of your points but Drew is the best pilot I know. He knows what he’s doing and he’s comfortable with that flying style and all of us on the ground were as well. We had an idea for what we were going into and we had intel before hand. Drew didn’t pose a threat to any of us on the ground nor to himself. As well I believe he landed to have a quick chat on what we were doing before moving on. So that landing wasn’t necessarily pointless. But then again I wasn’t with the squad that was over near him.
@@joshuab1449 Yeah, I understand, but he could've used the radio. Then again, I don't know how you guys operate. I know some units or groups keep things to a minimum on radio and don't discuss their plans as Zeus can listen in and work his strategy based on info disclosed over radio to simulate Taliban listening in on your radios (which has happened irl) so I won't judge too much, just don't spin down cause if someone snuck up on you, you're pretty fucked in that 30 sec spinup window the enemy has.
And in no way was I dissing Drew, just pointing some stuff out. Every pilot can learn something new, however good he may be, so it's a win-win to just point some things I found strange because either I am wrong and I learn something new, he learns something new or we both learn something new.
