Wonderful- thank-you! The Chiltern Line passes through some really interesting scenery in the outskirts of London, but quickly changes to bucolic rural scenery. A fun line to ride. And yes, we love those 68's.
Thanks very much, it definitely is a very picturesque route to go on when you get in between Banbury and London. There is a great deal to see to keep your mind occupied
Thanks very much, O love having the chance to come down to stations like this during the rush hour period as I get the chance to catch the 68's in all their glory
Those 68s sound amazing. I wish they used them on other lines but DRS do use 88s so they are similar. It’s a great video Tornado922 and I enjoyed it a lot, keep it up 😊
An absolute sublime video and what a fantastic station to see 68s. No wonder you keep going back to the Chiltern Mainline. I am looking forward even more to when you can start filming the TPE 68s. Keep safe, regards Gary.
Thanks ever so much Gary, I love having the chance to come to the CML during the rush hour period to catch the 68's in all their glory. Once the TPE 68's start running passenger services I will be spending a lot of my time up north!!
Went through there yesterday behind 68011on the 10.10 Marylebone - Moor Street. Good video and no wonder you were losing your voice with all the clag off the units!
@@Tornado922 lol you know I love the Chiltern Railway class 172's because I always love them even the 68's silver sets is really nice throughout the video. How awesome is that Tornado. 🙌🙌👏😍
Thanks very much, I love this time of the day on the CML for the simple reason that you get so many 68's coming and going, I have yet to hear one climbing a bank fully loaded but it would be a great sight to see
@@Tornado922 Have been to Oxenholme a number of times and you can hear them on the bank from Carnforth also on my local branch line we get the on nuclear waste to Crewe coal sidings and the come out of the tunnel near the station and they have to give it the beans
@@Tornado922 I do like them, and the 88s, but I pretty much see them every day along with some DRS 67s, so it's just not much of an event for me anymore. Sellafield keeps them busy.
Awesome video! You're lucky, I never see that amount of 68s on the line at one time. Also I severely doubt that "all stations" train at 21:06 is stopping at Sudbury & Harrow Road as it's now (going to be) the least used station in London, but I guess that's a quick way of putting it lol.
Thanks very much, I love having the chance to come down to the CML during the evening rush hour. It gives me the chance to catch the 68's in all their glory :) You would have to ask CR if that train was indeed calling at all stations lol
I’m not sure anyone cover this fact about Bicester North but the name Bicester North is recognised by the Ditra (Celia and Phil) announcement at any Chiltern Railways mainline station (except for Solihull and Dorridge) but other train stations (whether it’s managed by WMR, GWR or nearly any company) using its ATOS announcement by Anne (Roger or any ATOS announcers) says “Bicester” instead of “Bicester North” It’s rather weird but I was wondering how come it doesn’t recognise the actual station Bicester North name when saying as Bicester.
In all honesty I wouldn't know. My only assumption is that Bicester North is the only Bicester station that's on the mainline, seeing as the only other station is Bicester village which is on the branch line linking Oxford to the CML.
If you care about Greenpeace, then you aren't a proper railway enthusiast LOL, those 68s are simply stunning, up there with class 31s and 37s, thumbs up as always Jarred, thoroughly enjoyed watching :)
2015 I don't recall my now ex GF being with me, and the woman you're speaking of in this vid I have no clue who you are talking about. The last time my current GF came with me was when I went to Leighton Buzzard last year
Is it just me that kinda hates Chiltern Railways? Like they just seem to get the crap that no one else wants and their silver livery is quite frankly horrible, it only works on the 68/82 sets and running a 3 car train between Birmingham and London, are they insane? Like come on, use the livery that the 165s are in for all your trains and get some new ones, could get the 365s that Scotrail had on loan from Great Northern or something, hell if Cross Country decide to get rid of their 220s once Avanti West Coast gets rid of their Super Voyagers they should invest in them, like its way past time to move on from the 168s
I can what you're saying, they could do with some new rolling stock that is significantly suited better towards long distance intercity travel. The 168's are good trains but they definitely don't meet the capacity needs for the route that they operate on. They couldn't have the 365's as the entire Chiltern route is non electrified. When Avanti do get rid of their 221's I'm lead to believe that XC will be running them alongside their existing fleet of 220 and 221 voyagers
@@Tornado922 That would make sense, any ideas on what DMUs they could possibly go after? Like in the wild world where you got to decide their fleet what would you run?
@@thatlonewolfguy2878 To be honest there isn't a company in the UK you could currently go to in order to get redundant rolling stock, their only choice is to get new units custom built. So you could very well end up seeing them going to someone like Hitachi and getting them to build new DMU's for their route which would just end up being another member of the 800 family. But in saying that they could always go to Bombardier and see if they can produce a new series of 5/6 car DMU's for use on their line. You just have to remember that some of the platform lengths aren't that great at some of their stations, their silver sets only just fit into some of them. I'm sure in a few years time we will see something new coming onto that line to replace the older fleet.

I agree the 68s at full chatter are superb. Love these locos

DRS use 68s and the 88s
68s do nuclear flask trains and TPE use them between Liverpool and Scarborough with Mk5a Nova 3 sets
I agree with you can't get bored with the 68's Fantastic video for me thanks for sharing;)
They will always have something going for me haha :D
Splendid video tornado
Thanks very much
Hi mate another excellent video I love the 68s has it departs and I sound very nice
Thanks very much Lee, I love coming to the CML at this time of the day as you get so many 68 sets running along this line
Great video as always.
Thanks very much
I once caught a "delayed" train which arrived 1 minute early! I was going to Didcot from Havant. South Western Railway is strange .
I think the whole railway network in the UK is strange at the best of times
GWTrains78 we have the same profile except mine is zoomed in COINCIDENCE I THINK NOT!!!!!!!
They really do need more 68+DVT sets, similar to how TPE got a whole bunch of new sets hauled by the loco's. Nice video :)
If Chiltern Railways got the same sets that TPE are using I think I would end up living on this line haha
Who wouldn't

When I get the chance to I will see what I can do for you
the low rumble of the 68 is similair to the deltics to my ears
I can kinda see that when I think about it
Am I right in saying the 168/1s, 168/2s, and 168/3 are clubman's and the 168/0s are bullets?
As far as I understand they are all Clubman's. The 'Bullets' are the first few 168/0s that have an older cab design.
168/3s and 168/2s are Turbostars and 168/1s are clubmans
Nice vid

I want to say it's around 100mph give or take
