Ridiculous character working for a soulless corporation that turned out to have a heart of gold. Would’ve loved to see him spread his own wings and forge his own path. But it seems he did just that by looking after his crew.
At first I thought he was just a generic angry military man, but over the course of the game he easily ranked in my top 3 favs of the game. Salute to one of the greatest soldiers on Rubicon o7
I FUCKING LOVE DADDY G1 MICHIGAN I FUCKING LOVE DADDY G1 MICHIGAN I FUCKING LOVE DADDY G1 MICHIGAN I FUCKING LOVE DADDY G1 MICHIGAN I FUCKING LOVE DADDY G1 MICHIGAN I FUCKING LOVE DADDY G1 MICHIGAN
I don’t know why but I’m so obsessed with “Intercept the Redguns” from a narrative standpoint. At this point, Balam Industries is completely screwed now that Arquebus Corporation possesses the scavenged PCA tech to drive them off-world, pretty much all the Redguns have either deserted or were killed off and many of the lesser grunts and MTs were wiped out by the Watchpoint’s defenses and mass desertions occurring and all G1 Michigan has left of his forces are his most fanatical MT squadrons taking on a pointless mission of trying to take down Raven and hopelessly charge through NEPENTHES. But does he turn tail and run? No, he orders his soldiers to charge into battle against a single pilot of mass destruction (C4-621 Raven/V.IV Rusty) for a hopeless battle in the service of an uncaring corporation and dying senseless deaths on the battlefield, par for the course in the world of Armored Core. Sure, Michigan could’ve read the room and knew this to be a lost cause and joined the withdrawal from Rubicon 3 to face the wrath of Balam’s higher ups for his failure but he’ll be damned if he wasn’t going all in to “bag the big one” and take a shot at eliminating the Wall Climber, the Worm Killer and the only G13 who has lived this long. Even when he dies, does his MT squadron break and try to flee? No, they assert that Michigan gave it his all, stand their ground and continue to fight. If 621 dies, Michigan wastes no time calling in relief teams to the front to tend to the wounded. Even Handler Walter doesn’t sound ecstatic about killing Michigan off, simply telling 621 to get the job done. They must’ve known each other back on Jupiter when Walter was sent there as a boy before the Fires of Ibis erupted. I’m almost reminded of Stannis Baratheon and his ill-fated March to Winterfell from Game of Thrones (TV Series only! Book Stannis is very different and much more successful). Forces depleted from mass desertions and facing overwhelming odds with no hope of victory but goes down fighting. I so wish there was a route to side with Balam all the way, maybe a DLC or “AC6.1” game like For Answer and Verdict Day where we have more options to side with the other factions such as the PCA or BRANCH.
I love the passion and it is a very interesting mission. After all there is a lot of story that has lead up to this point, the truth of being a mercenary is one day you will fight a friend along with as you have already written out here a load of other bits that make this almost a final page of a really good book.
Red Gun felt like anime protagonist faction. I got the feeling the student pilot is the MC while the Red Gun are pseuso family he bond with and stuff. Ofc, we exist and swiftly put a stop to that before it happen
The Red Guns was his way of giving those that needed a second chance on life when society has turned their back on them. Another interesting lore video ACL! ^_^
I love D.C. Douglas’ iconic, hammy performance as Albert Wesker, and he likewise knocked it out of the park in AC6 as a stereotypical yet endearing drill sergeant-type character.
I know him as Azrael in Blazblue, and I jokingly said to a friend (who is the one who got me into Blazblue and AC) that Azrael is actually the one piloting
If you read the huxley item description it tells you that it’s made from stolen balam tech. i personally like to think that michigan isnt lacking in the intelligence department, but rather refuses to act in balam’s best interest. As proven by how he was serving in furlong for most of his career. I personally theorize that michigan did have a part in the development of steel haze and personally handed rusty the tech needed to develop the huxley. Also evident by their little banter during the ice worm mission.
Sure i don't see anything wrong with your theory and well i think the ice worm lines where just the red gun commander surprised to see a solider doing their job well. After most of the people under Michigan's commander you could say were not skilled soldiers. But like the theory so i say go for it.
Well if we going off what we can from the war and parts, its suggested from thier parts that Furlong was winning thanks to thier missiles. So maybe Balam once they lost or managed to get peace they decided to buy from them as well if these missiles could beat them, they surly to be able to take out thier foes. But again just thoughts.
@@armoredcorelore It probably may have been Michigan himself who brokered the deal to use Furlong's weaponry. Or they might be bankrolling a third party who supplies them with the weaponry in the meantime, as Balam could be developing their own missile tech in the background.
Very possible, connections as someone once told me is very important in the business world and i imagine its the same in ac's world. But as you say may we have a third party at work here being the middle man or we dive into the world of shares like ac4 and its corporations.
I doubt that Michigan piloted Liger Tail in the Jupiter war, as it's head for example was made on Michigans request, by Balam. I doubt Balam would take a custom Order by their enemy
True, in fact as time has gone on since this video it seems either furlong was using baws armored cores or the just had the power of thier armored fleet to work with.

Like it fox eye and trying again at a video idea i did a while back with 4gen. After all Vero nork is not that heavy on lore, but they might work in another video type.
In a lot of ways, G1 Michigan is, after the original Raven and 621, the most important character for shaping the story of AC6. You briefly mention that his treatment of G5 Iguasu is a large part of the reason why G5 did what he did, which means that he's a large part of the reason that, should 621 pursue the Coral Release ending (Interestingly, also the only ending in which Michigan isn't confirmed to have died) Iguasu joins Allmind and eventually causes Coral Release.
True there are a lot of moving parts in this story that make it move. And ah yes the allmind route i admit the more i look into the more i dislike it. Don't get me wrong, its just a personal feeling about it.
Fuck i loved michigan so much... Him getting put down hurt so bad especially since if uts not us its Rusy, and Rusty also had high respect for Michigan, more than any other vesper. Really wish we could have chose balam. Killing Red in the allmond mission really hurt.. fuck i loved the red guns. I even liked Iguazu. Poor guy never seen what he was capable of, so he always thought less of himself.
