I picked up an old harley golf cart for 300 Monday and felt the same damn way. Oh well, engine isn't locked up for me though.
@@snafuequals i have one their really hard to find parts for. Is that one a 3 wheeler? Mine sat for a long while and still runs. Just throws the maim belt
@@mechanicswithjake3057 Yeah, it's a 3. Came with a busted up ignition switch (I know, sketchy). Finding parts here and there but they're not cheap.
@@snafuequals yeah they arent. I ordered a washer and a shim for that primary pulley and waited a month to receive micro versions of what i orderd. Tryed to return them but they wouldn't email me back. Payed around 50-70$
Think you may have bitten off a little more than you can chew with this one bud, may want to just scrap that lil motor and start searching for what you want to swap onto as long as the frame and everything is structurally solid then cut and weld some new plate steel to redo the floorboards and put all new driveline on her lol maybe that new rocket motor from the banshee 😋🤷♂️
If you can save this mule, you can save anything. Damn this thing is rough haha

Yea, pushing/pulling flat tires sucks even worse when the side walls are completely blown out.

Ive owned a few of these the kaf1000/kaf450 they are great machines and will never die like a Honda

looking forward to this build! I just bought one of these (1988 mule 1000 - kaf 450 ) in slightly better condition about a week ago. they share almost all the same engine and carb parts as the 454 ltd motorcycles from 85-90 i believe. Easier to find stuff for the MC's than the mules from what I've found. mine is missing a few things here and there but seems solid for the most part.

You can take a 2x4 and cut it to the pistons size and use it as a punch, I've done this tons of times and it has always worked. Love the videos keep it up!

I enjoy your channel and what you do I have Done 2 1000 Kawasaki mule the engine and transmission or one unit you have to pull the motor split the case to pull the head I’ve got two extra engines two extra frames if I can help you with parts in anyway I would be more than glad to work with you I wish you the best of luck and I’m anxious to see what you do with it do you want to get rid of it I want to be at the top i’ve list
Take that head let it soak in some used oil.For a week or so clean it up it’ll be fine. Spray those pistons down kind of work them back-and-forth.

I love your videos and have learned a lot from them. If you are looking for some suggestions for future video projects l would recommend a Cannondale FX400 and a rokon motorcycle, or some other 2x2 motorcycle to add to your video variety. Keep up the great work.
You should do a giveaway with this one ..... as in take it somewhere, unhook trailer, and drive away ... as fast as you can 🤓

Might be more cost effective to just swap the motor for one of those predator 220cc. Work on restoring the body and frame to have a cool vintage mule.
Rough is optimistic with this one. This one straight beat into the dirt lol

Have you guys ever pulled a starter out of a 1988 450 like you got. Having problems putting back on as the gear keeps sliding off in the gear box. Any information on what it looks like inside the chain drive case

I would have took some PB blaster or some automatic transmission fluid poured it down the intake and plug holes and let it sit for taking the head off
Man I know u got it just keep doing what u doing and do u ever sell the stuff u fix
I think he keeps some of them but I think he sells most of them
Soak the whole thing in gunk foaming engine degreaser. Use like 3 cans. Let it sit for 20 minutes. Then power wash it. It will clean up decently.

Seems like a lot of engine for not much speed. I'm guessing they have a lot of torque?

And you need to get some marvel mystery oil...works amazing for soaking the cylinders...wd40 is a lubricant not a penetration oil

Man I think you can fix it but its going to be a challenge. I hope you find some good used heads and cylinders. It looked surprisingly good on the inside. Finding and installing some anti skid plate to weld back in is no big deal if you can weld but its probably bolted.
That's the same motor Kawasaki used on the 454LTD street bike.

If you can't get that thing running right you have a sweet suzuki engine that'll turn it into a wheelie machine
wow that thing is in tough shape , gonna cost way more than it is worth to bring that back
If there is not an o ring on the head, what do you use to seal it up? Hondabond HT or 4?

Such neglect... super rough... leaving the intake ports exposed to the elements is borderline abuse. The valvetrain may not be rusted but it has not seen oil in decades. Not worth $225 unless you are looking specifically for a Mule project vehicle, and even then $225 would be high LOL. Thanks for the video.

It's got that diff to turn a lever and only one wheel in back so didn't tear up the grass
You should have pulled it off the trailer with a four wheeler and a chain.

Next time use one of the other bikes to help pull it off the trailer and into garage. That's what I do...I take a project bike that runs and pull the non running project bike off the trailer with it. 😂

i was at scrap yard a few weeks ago there was two of them there they were in better shape then that one ---i have not heard anything good about them Kawasaki Mules --- good luck----- if nothing else could put in a nother motor
PLEASE HELP! I went to Home Depo today to pickup that Citrus strip becaues I am restoring a 1981 xr 80 and the fenders are spray panted. Looked at the back of it and it said do not use on plastic but I see you use it for your fenders. Will it work or not?
