QUESTION OF THE DAY: Have you ever seen a folding utility knife like this one? What's the most common task you use a folding utility knife for? Would you make any changes to the design?
I love mine. It's replaced my normal daily carry knife. What I like about it is I can be really rough with it, without worrying about obviously dulling my everyday carry blade. I have also been able to use the 1/4 hex without the attachment to unscrew nuts. Very handy
This is by far the best knife they've (or anyone) has come out with. I love the screw driver and all the other hidden features--the bottle opener, the scoring tool, and the single blade storage is just right (doesn't add bulk to the handle). To improve it further, I would make it even slimmer if possible, perhaps by slimming down the plastic casing; the wire clip, could be sturdier, and the screwdriver lock would move in the opposite direction that it does currently, to be friendlier to the right-handed (majority) folks out there.
I have this razor utility knife, and it works great for me. I use it to open top soil bags and to trim glue overfill in my wood working projects. Cheers from Texas.
I bought mine about a year ago and I really like it.After going through a lot of utility knives I’ve settled on this one. I keep a serrated blade in the spare compartment for when I need to cut some larger branches in the woods. Thanks for a great review.
I've carried the 1505 for about a year. It is the best "Multi-Tool" I've ever had. Removing the screwdriver bit provides a 1/4 hex drive that you could use for sockets.
I've got the Milwaukee 6 in 1, it has replaced my Stanley Quick slide sport, which has fold out box cutter & a half serrated fold out blade, I've added afew things 2 my 6&1, a Leatherman ratchet extension & a line of bits in a leather pouch, I normally carry the Surge, because it really comes in handy 4 my line of work. I have this 6-1 and man, I’m a machinist and for the facility I work for I’m responsible for electrical, dry wall and plumbing and this is a tool, I legit handy tool and it paid for itself many times. Highly recommend for daily use on job sites
Honestly, this is the knife that convinced me that brand names for construction/trade tools really do matter. I had three similar looking knock offs from amazon and all of them were inferior: unsecure blades, weird blade holding compartments that don't work, awkward grips made of loosely glued together handle scales, lots of movement in open position... terrible features. This one though, super secure even after months of work. The metal handles can take a beating and it feels good and secure in the hand. The loose flip out action can be hard to get used to but just a few practice opens and it's fine.
Lol my wife complained because i bought 2 of these from Amazon along with the 50 pack of refill blades ! One knife for home, one for work. Can't wait to get them!
This is such an awesome tool. My favorite item that I carry daily. I’m actually going to buy a wiha double sided bit set and rubber bit holder to cart in addition to this. Another cool thin about this is it will hold the Leatherman ratcheting extension. Might come in handy if you need it!
Thanks for showing all the features. I was stuck with the screwdriver locked, which I now realize I have to push in the black locking mechanism towards the orange side to unlock.
I have used the fastback II model for 6 years now. I am a diemaker and die cutter. I cut paper for a living and the fast back with blade storage is a time saver. Mine is older and I can tell there are some changes in newer ones but I will still buy it when I lose one.
A fellow die cutter! Had my fastback for five years and thought I lost it so I picked up this model. I ground a large flathead into a decent chisel for removing spent open cell from dies or tweaking tightly spaced punches on flat die cut strippers. Works great........then I found my old one, good as new, caught in the magnets of my scrap chute. I'm never surprised by what I find there.
Serrations are good for cutting thick rope. If you are a deck hand or something on a fishing boat, you need one on your bibs in case you get caught up in lines and get pulled overboard.
@@MarkThomasBuilder you should see how many knives underwater divers have. I swear they have at least 1 on each limb, one on each side of their body, etc. If they get wrapped up in something, they want to have a knife within easy reach of the other side.
I like Milwaukee FASTBACK a lot for: 1. Good and stable locking blade holder, 2. Frame lock for screwdriver and screwdriver it self on knife, 3. Spare blade hidden storage, 4. Good quality and good holding pocket clip. I would like Milwaukee to improve on: 1. Blade holder/knife is sticking out of handle when is folded, in spite being space for it to be able to be flush, 2. More precise frame lock grind on screwdriver and possibly 90° lock position, 3. Screwdriver it self could be lil bit longer and sturdier with magnet, I know there could be a problem with space but can be done with 25mm/1" bit and possibly holder for second bit visible/on side in the place where lanyard hole is. 4. Pocket clip could be for deep carry, but that would require some remodel coz of bottle opener i think. Overall one of my favorite EDC knives and screwdriver is handy to have from time to time.
I just got one a few days ago. It's great! Also, they may have improved it slightly as when I put the screwdriver in the 90degree position (the first stop) it actually (semi) locks into place. It can move out of it fairly easily, but it does sustain that position. It didn't "flop" the way yours did in this video. So, maybe they did something to "tweak" it, or maybe it becomes "more loose" with use? Great review! Thanks!

I just bought one recently and have found myself using the screwdriver quite a bit at work. Improvements I would like to see are a reversible pocket clip and storage for at least another blade or two. Other than that, so far so good.
Serrated blades are harder to sharpen, but have their advantages. I carry a leatherman surge and use the serrated blade for cutting tough stuff like sturdy rubber hoses, and the straight blade for pretty much everything else cause it's easier to sharpen on the go with my fällkniven dc4
I got one. the best one when it comes to features after my heavy duty dewalt DWHT10261. The Only think I wish for the Milwaukee to have was the metal casing.
Great review. Just bought in for my brother and picked one up for my self today. Only gripe I had was that the bit holder for the Phillips and flat head drive but didn’t come out easily. Come to find out the retention spring for the bit in the knife was not seated properly.
My uncle died and left me several of his possessions and one of them is a Milwaukee fast-track knife. I cannot change the blade. I sprayed it with WD-40 and let it soak. I press the little button that holds the blade. I tried two pairs of wire pliers. Nothing works. Since there is a lifetime guarantee with their products. How can I contact them . Please help me. I want to use the knife but also I want to keep it as a memory of my dear uncle. He was a carpenter in his day. He taught me how to read a ruler when I was about eight years old. He taught me about fractions before I learned about it school. I do miss him so much

I have great memories of him and inherited his hand tools. As far as your blade goes, it's hard to say without looking at it. I don't know if it can be sent in for repair. I hate serrations. They make a blade useless for most edc tasks which require a fine straight edge like s utility razor or a Sheepsfoot and what it’s meant for which is being sharp and cutting stuff! Serrations make carving, whittling or shaving wood impossible. They’re totally useless fir pruning in the garden, or food tasks around the home or out and about. They’re also really hard to maintain a decent edge. Their only benefit is if you’re needing a rescue blade that can hack through the webbing of seatbelts fast or if your dealing with marine rigging and need to cut through heavy cordage.
Great review man. Any chance you could upload the specs to it as I can't find on any website. Mostly need the depth/width (of course depends on which way you hold). Need to know if it will fit into a gap on car dashboard 18-20mm in height. So width of knife looking down on it while cutting with belt clip removed of course. Sorry for confusion. I have one love most of the design.....blade lock tab does not work that well on mine... In every video I have seen it looks effortless getting the blade out and back in on mine is a real task... I wish they just used a real button!!!
I was recently testing another brand knife like this out, just for kicks. It never seemed to latch well unless I put extra effort in, so I exchanged it and the new one works just fine. Maybe exchanging it would be worth a shot?
So what about does this blade open in your side pocket when carrying it around because it opens so well ? I have a EDC straight blade folding knife which I carry in my side pocket and it won't open because u have to fold it by pulling the knife out I like it but I have to sharpen it every weekend because of intense cutting cardboard boxes and cargo load plastic film, can u answer this question?
I mostly use the 80d for my videos. I use the G7x for slo-mo pan shots and some occasional times where I want a second camera, just to capture a different angle, like in my recent snow blower video.
That's what decide not to go with it in favor of the standard fast back. Saw too many reports of the bit holder not holding up. Seems meant for light duty only. I've got my Leatherman for screwdriver duty, and just needed the utility knife for the cutting function. I found the pocket clip on the Fastback was too tight for quick draw, but it was simple enough to adjust the bend for the just the right amount of tension I needed to stay clipped securely but still allow for it to be pulled out easily.

Just finished about an hour of intermittent heavy cutting with this tool. It's really chews up your hands due to all the skinny edges on the handle including the belt clip... It's uncomfortable save for maybe opening a cardboard box. Not a 'real' tool.
If you're doing the heavy duty cutting for long periods of time, then I agree with you. This is a handy utility knife for EDC. I have an older side button MIlwaukee utility knife that I like for the tougher stuff. I also have a Lenox brand that I use for big projects.
I know what you mean. I own a bunch of tape measures because I'd take them out of my truck to use around the house and then need it the next day at a jobsite. 🤣🤷♂️
the bottle opener on this knife is horribly placed and pretty much useless. recommend grinding it off considering there's like 5 other spots on the knife you can use to open bottles without having something sharp poking out on it.
Inferior to the simple 48-22-1906. With any of the others, you are just playing, and certainly not turning any real screws. A screwdriver has a round handle and a long shaft. This is a goofy gadget. INFERIOR. I have unlimited blade storage called a toolbox, and my real screwdriver isn't limited to 2 heads.

I have to use a pair pliers to switch the bit cant pull it out. maybe it will loose up with more use I just took it out of the package

Blade comes out sometimes when I'm doing aggressive drywall cuts. Wish the razor blade didn't rattle.
Humm, I haven't tried it on the aggressive cuts like that yet. I like their older version side sliding utility knife for those projects.
Combo blades are a nogo for me.

it does not open in your side pocket. You got to press the button really good to open.

I love the Milwaukee fastback utility knives..sadly I’m not happy with the 6 in 1..the driver wiggles and doesn’t stay locked..
That's what decide not to go with it in favor of the standard fast back. Saw too many reports of the bit holder not holding up. Seems meant for light duty only. I've got my Leatherman for screwdriver duty, and just needed the utility knife for the cutting function.
I found the pocket clip on the Fastback was too tight for quick draw, but it was simple enough to adjust the bend for the just the right amount of tension I needed to stay clipped securely but still allow for it to be pulled out easily.
@@wingerrrrrrrrr I had the same issue when I first got my fastback..but now I have it perfect and literally been carrying 2 years now..it’s really the best box cutter around
@@Ersk88 I do like how easy it is to tailor the clip tension to how you like it. I used my Knipex pliers wrench to tweak it without marring it.

Just finished about an hour of intermittent heavy cutting with this tool.
It's really chews up your hands due to all the skinny edges on the handle including the belt clip... It's uncomfortable save for maybe opening a cardboard box.
Not a 'real' tool.
If you're doing the heavy duty cutting for long periods of time, then I agree with you. This is a handy utility knife for EDC. I have an older side button MIlwaukee utility knife that I like for the tougher stuff. I also have a Lenox brand that I use for big projects.

Yeah, that packaging can be a pain. I'm still looking for the ultimate hand tool to cut open the difficult packaging.

Sounds like you need to get in the habit of putting it on your belt or pocket after each use.

I know what you mean. I own a bunch of tape measures because I'd take them out of my truck to use around the house and then need it the next day at a jobsite. 🤣🤷♂️

the bottle opener on this knife is horribly placed and pretty much useless. recommend grinding it off considering there's like 5 other spots on the knife you can use to open bottles without having something sharp poking out on it.

Inferior to the simple 48-22-1906. With any of the others, you are just playing, and certainly not turning any real screws. A screwdriver has a round handle and a long shaft. This is a goofy gadget. INFERIOR. I have unlimited blade storage called a toolbox, and my real screwdriver isn't limited to 2 heads.
I rarely use the screwdriver feature, but it fits on the utility knife fairly well.
