South sea pearls are highly sought after for their rich and varied colours. They can grow to an average of about 18mm rarely exceeding a maximum of 20mm. The main factors that determines the colour of a pearl are their growing environment and their oyster species. So this is the reason that South Seas pearls come in a variety of colours. Their prices are way dearer than freshwater pearls as each “cultured saltwater South Seas oyster” only produces one pearl in a five year period in comparison to “freshwater oyster pearls” that produce 20-30 pearls each in a few months! What is more, only one in four of these “cultured saltwater South Seas oyster” actually produces one single pearl in each five year period!

I think it’s redIculous that people have been so gas lighted about what quality jade is, and that it “only comes from from Burma”… hooey!!! Having worked with both and polished etc, there’s no contest for me between the beauty and aesthetic of Guatemalan jade and pretty much any other.

Guatemalan jade is even prettier than Burmese IMO, son ice to work with

I was on a Christmas party since "december 21st 2024" but i was on a rock field with many rock then i cant belive le luck 😮😮😮 i just found a jade that is colored with a weord green color but when it gets older i hope it turns into normal green but i found another jade next to my car buried in the soil, i was panicking in luck that i dig the soil with my nails so hard that it the soil is too hard but the 2nd jade popped with dirt that i wiped the dirt with my hands but my father wiped the soil with clean wipes and thats how i got my 2 jadeites "is my comment very long?"

"Jade v Jadeite" is misleading. They are BOTH types of "Jade". The correct terminology is "Nephrite v Jadeite".

I disagree with the comments about orange peeling. That usually is because the stone is either lower quality or the technique needs to be adjusted. I have had orange peeling only on the 800 and higher grit. So I have to use different pressure for each grit. Sometimes the crystal structure is just not that great for polishing, even with quality jade.
