    Just bought one last night from Kelly Subaru in Chattanooga Tennessee traded my wife Ford Escape in on it love it not as much throttle response as my boosted escape but I didn’t buy it for throttle response great ride a little more noise than what I like on the interstate but the ride is smooth and very responsive on steering and safety

      The steering ratio of the new global platform Crosstrek is the same as the BRZ sports rear wheel drive. That's impressive and you can go to Quebec Canada from Markham Ontario which is roughly a 6 hr plus drive on one tank of gas. Also it's the only subcompact vehicle in its class that tows up to 1500lbs. That's not much but the same as the Forester's and Honda CRV. The HRV, Mazda CX3 don't recommend towing at any capacity. Although you do get more torque power and HP of course on the Forester and it has trailer sway bar control standard. Torque vectoring standard on both Crosstrek and Forester.

      It gets the job done with the 152HP DI 146 LB torque. The added paddle shifters which are standard with CVT transmission works well for that extra boost when trying to pass slower vehicles on the highway for example. It's a Billy goat through the snow, wow, you'll be passing by everyone in a bad snowstorm. Even many other AWD system vehicles just aren't as good as the Subaru lineup. Arguably of course the Quattro and a few others. Yet, Subaru's always on AWD system has no slippage happening next to most of the competition. Subaru has been named the best company for the 2019 year by Consumers Report mainly because of the Crosstrek and Forester and new Ascent 7 seater. Kelly Blue book named Subaru the best company for 2018. Plus lowest cost for ownership of the competition was the Crosstrek over a 5 years span. Highest resale value as well amongst its rivals. In another important list that has put the Lexus at number one company for years now, again this year, had Toyota second Mazda jumping 10 spots to 3 and Subaru at 4th spot. Here in Ontario, Canada there was a waiting list of 3 months or more to get delivery of the new 2019 Crosstrek. Hopefully I won't have to wait that long when I get my Crosstrek and first ever Subaru. I've been buying Honda's for years now. I mean years! Since 1991. I've loved Honda. Subaru has impressed me so much with the new global platform and making the interior better than ever before with high quality fit and finish. It really looks awesome inside. It's nice to have a V6 but the FWD with my Accord just doesn't cut it in our bad winter's. Especially the previous one we just had. "Confidence in Motion", soon will be mine

    I agree with you and I had a crv too , a 2015 but you are wrong about one thing, the crv blows crosstrek away in acceloration. It's not even close. The crv has like 180 hp and the subaru has 152. I still like the crosstrek better because it feels more solid and the awd system is 2nd to none imo.

      Arxaggelos Mixail I realize the horsepower figures are very different. I am simply talking about the way the car feels in relation to its performance. It’ just feels better and more responsive. That’s all I mean.

      Interesting.
      I have an XV with eyesight that allows adaptive cruise control and would never go back to conventional cruise control.

    I have a few questions regarding the 2018 Crosstrek Sport. I live in the US and our Premium model lacks what comes standard with your Sport model. Most notably, the digital guage with engine information, leather wrapped shifter and fold down arm rest in the back. Can I / how much (estimate) would it cost to import a Canadian Sport model to the US? Also, would the meters/ read outs convert from Kilometers to Miles Per Hour? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    • @AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyre
      @AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyre  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really don't know what import costs would be. I don't have the slightest clue. The gauge would come with kilometre readings with MPH underneath in a smaller font. Thats pretty much all i can help you with

    • @kevsingh
      @kevsingh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A couple years back I did some research on importing a car, and believe me, you're much better off buying a higher trim level with the features you want from the start than spending thousands of dollars and multiple headaches on trying to import a car to the US.
      Or drive with Canadian plates...

    Thanks for the great video! One comment. You have a very unusual driving position. Your arms seem to be fully extended, almost "gang-banger" style. Either your seat is too far back, and/or the seatback is raked too far back as well. Just my two cents.

    • @AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyre

      Peter Visima thanks. It's comfortable for me. I'm still upright and feel like I can actually move my arms instead of being on top of the steering wheel

      Im so torn which to choose the crv or the manual are you happy with the manual and why'd you choose it over the cvt

    • @clemonallison488
      @clemonallison488 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I chose the manual transmission because I wanted more control, and I missed that with the last few cars I had. Also, the cost of having auto trans serviced by the dealership was quite expensive.

    From what I saw this version won't have manual transmission only CVT. You would say, get use to it, BUT no, first of all with a CVT it's a Front wheel drive with slipper clutch for rear, the manual has a 3rd diff in the center.
    But the worse thing people don't see, the CVT works with oil pressure and the collector is in the bottom of it. Look under the car and you will see it and bump a rock and say goodbye to your CVT. A manual, you hit and also if you loose oil you can slowly slowly ride home.
    The 2017 has a 2.0i manual, but only in USA, not in Europe!! WTF!! Really to bad! I like the XV(Crosstrek) but the configurations, sorry, are lame.
    Don't say Diesel, if you don't go Illegal, forget that engine!!
    PS:Nice video, but how can you drive with such straight arms??

    • @AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyre
      @AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyre  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just how I drive and whats comfortable for me. I think depending on your location the vehicle is offered in different configurations.

      +Dgkgurl She-Hulk Not in Italy, here we get stupid subaru marketing, we don't even have a Normal Impreza! Even the 2017 in Switzerland, Germany and France you get the XV(Crosstrek) with 2.0 Petrol and manual transmission, in Italy NO! only e pointless 1.6 and a 2.0 diesel that tries to commit suicide if you drive it for short distance. :-(

    • @ibdustin15
      @ibdustin15 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree about the CVT AWD setup.... while not FWD like you stated it is slightly FWD biased due to a 60/40 split. I really don't know why they don't use the WRX's CVT setup for all their vehicles since it contains 3 differentials and is more of a "true" AWD system. I drove the 2018 Crosstrek CVT today actually and was really surprised on how it DIDN'T feel like a CVT. As far as going off-road over a jagged rock and taking out your transmission..... you may want to look at a different vehicle for that kind of off-road terrain anyways.
