    FIXES AND NOTES (updated as comments come in):
    - Bubbly Dance: (small bubbleblight) gives constitution 2 as well
    - Critical Draw: It lasts for only 1 second if doing a larger attack that you can't immediately follow it up with. For a weapon like Dual Blades, it seems to last for up to 2-3 sec., but still quite a waste to use this skill imo and even more confusing.
    - Focus: There are a few other things that Focus works on, so I apologize for missing them. Most are not worth the skill though, like HBG charge, SNS charge hit, Lance charge side swipe, etc.
    - Good Luck: In rampages might actually be for monster parts? I have to test this more...
    - Hunger resistance: can be helpful if doing longggggg gathering excursions
    - Latent Power: Forgot to mention the effect lasts for 2 full minutes.
    - Offensive Guard: I said affinity about Offensive Guard but it's attack power
    - Wirebug Whisperer: LV3 is actually around 16.7% faster, so not quite 15% and not quite 20%, it has to do with the animation speed of the recovery.

      Also as a heads up, bubbly dance *does* stack sorta with evade window; it just takes evade lvl 2 to be equal to evade window 3, ans evade window 3 and plus to be equal to evade window 5. Someone tested this. Basically, evade window 1 is useless with this but 4 and 5 are redundant

    A little correction about the Diversion skill, it's basically the same as having -10 Sense in old games where you'd count as 2 people instead of 1 when the monsters are doing an attack (most attacks are aimed, very few are random AoE and whatnot). So if for example it's just you and a friend, instead of it being 50% chance, it's more like 66.6% chance for you to get targeted, while hunting with 4 people means it goes from 25% to 40%.

    • @unicorntomboy9736
      @unicorntomboy9736 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There should be a Stealth Decoration skill, which would be the counter opposite to Diversion

    • @tho_tho
      @tho_tho 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@unicorntomboy9736 In the old games there was, +10 points in Sense gave you Sneak (usually on Narga X armors among others), while at - 10 points it gave you Taunt. Only bad thing was that if you needed Taunt on a set (eg: meme Lance), you were stuck using Zinogre/Lavasioth armors since it was the only one that came with it naturally, but they were all pretty bad. It was one of the very few "negative" skills that was actually useful in certain cases (similar to Crit Eye- for Negative Crit builds) and was extremely hard to get through decos (only Latent Power/Wide-Range reduced it for the most part) so you HAD to use armor that had it naturally.
      But yes, I agree we should have both Sneak and Taunt (Diversion) as their own skills with their own decos. Unfortunately though, those two never stacked (so if someone had Taunt and the others Sneak, only Taunt would work).

    • @tho_tho
      @tho_tho 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@unicorntomboy9736 Don't know if you've played the older games, but they had the 10 point skill system (so skills only activated if at +10 and above or -10 and below), so you'd have a skill name, then it'd be split between the sub-skills it contained, those being the positive (+10) effects and the negative (-10) ones. For example, the Sense skill would have Stealth and Taunt respectively while something like Sharpness would have Razor Sharp and Blunt Edge (double sharpness loss) respectively. Since they've done away with the old system and negative skills as a whole, there's no reason anymore to differentiate, so it would just be called Sneak if it was added now similar to how Taunt got renamed to Diversion.

    Hey Gaijin, thank you for the very informative video. Hopefully we'll see a day when Capcom decides to include precise skill descriptions in a MH game.Until then, we are lucky to have dedicated people like you keeping us out of the dark. Although, while most of your descriptions were on point, I'd like to draw your attention to an interesting little detail I noticed about Maximum Might.
    To get the effect, you do have to keep yourself on max Stamina for 3 seconds straight, just like you said in the video.
    However, after you have the effect activated, it won't go away the moment you use stamina. I think the de-activation mechanic works on a timer:
    If you spend about 1 second or so TOTAL time without maximum stamina, you lose the bonus affinity, but each time your stamina gets maxed again before the timer runs out, the timer will stop, and then resume from where it left off the next time you're not maxed out.
    Why this could be important is because if you do a single roll after MM activates, your stamina can just barely refill in time to not make the effect go away. For example: let's say you're hitting a downed monster with your longsword spirit reckoning combo to attain red gauge, and MM activates in the meantime. You could, in fact, roll out of spirit reckoning's end lag to do a spirit helmbreaker faster, and the effect of MM would NOT go away. But this only works for the 1st roll after MM activates, because as soon as you roll a 2nd time, the timer reaches 0, and the effect ends.
    Also worth noting is that this timer only resets when you end the effect of MM completely and the re-activate it. (So it doesn't matter if you wait 3 or more seconds after the 1st roll, the 2nd roll would still end the effect almost instantly).
    I'm not sure if this is a bug or intentional, but it made the skill just a bit more worthwhile for me. You might like to look into it yourself?
    Anyway, thanks again for all the good content, and happy hunting.

    Honestly, the only "trap" regarding weapon sharpness rampage skills is using them at all. I did the math, and they're almost identical in terms of damage at the current tier of weapons we have. The loss in raw is always made up for by the sharpness modifier, and they have equal amounts of their respective sharpness. Your true raw doesn't vary significantly between sharpness colors until you start hitting 300 displayed, which is only attainable with very specific (non-rampage weapon) builds in Rise.
    You're actually best off running the attack boost rampage skill in that slot, which equates to a tangible 5% increase in your raw attack. It's the skill that results in the highest raw damage boost, since the 10% affinity is an effective 2.5% damage boost (or 4% with crit boost).
    It's not the only trap on the rampage weapons. The third slot "surge" skills also calculate out to equal raw calculations, unless you're running crit boost in which case the affinity surge is always better. The optimal setup for a rampage weapon is Attack Boost IV, Non-elemental boost, and Affinity Surge, but only if you're using crit boost. If not, feel free to take attack surge for the big numbers, but just be aware that your damage over the hunt won't go up by any significant measure.
    The only real argument to be made for sharpness types is going for type 3 if you want a nice long sharpness bar on something like the gunlance or dual blades, where you won't miss the 10 raw as much due to the other sources of damage those weapons bring to the table.
    I say all of this because handicraft is kind of a bitch to pick up if you're wanting to bring any other skills along. Even if you're just running a single point of handicraft, you'll have to gem it in with a triple slot gem or waste a piece of gear, on top of forcing yourself into the protective polish niche. It's honestly better from a DPS and utility perspective to just run the attack boost and pop in speed sharpener, or something like that.

    a note about elements:
    elemental damage can be good for breaking specific spots that are not weak-spots as they can have low physical hit-zone damage but high elemental. i hear it doesn't help with severing but i have not tested this
    when it comes to being blighted, keep in mind that the number of evades are the maximum number of evades you need, as each evasion reduces the duration. so if you are blighted, but continue to fight, every roll you do will also work towards getting rid of the blight. blast blight is the only exception i can think of as rolling resets the timer (or at least adds more time) for when you explode instead of reducing it.

    Diversion is odd because it's barely noticeable when I'm playing with other "swordmasters" but when it comes to when I'm just playing with my one friend and he's on bow, it seems to really make a massive difference for some reason, as the monster actually spends a lot more time on me than usual. Bow seems to still be notorious for grabbing hate so this seems to help balance it out some how.
    I would consider the chance of a coincidence, but it's been a lot of hunts like that. A lot more than ten, that's for sure. Either way, I'm glad they made a skill like this that's only a level 1 slot deco, as GL, Lance, and CB really needed that extra attention. And for an extra boost, it helps their gunner partners just that little bit more, or some how in my case, a lot more.

    I wanted to add a couple small notes
    As a more important note than the others, for Mind's Eye most charge attacks on GS have a Raw Hitzone modifier attached to them, this acts basically identically to the raw portion of sharpness and WILL affect the thresholds for Mind's Eye working, at mos the multiplier is 1.3x so it will drop thresholds accordingly, Also while it doesn't apply to gunner (bow/bowgun) projectiles Demon ammo also gives a 1.1x Raw Hitzone modifier that I believe also affects it (generally you can use FLOOR(45/(HitzoneModifiersMultipliedTogether))
    For sake of Dulling Strike, with the Heavy Bone Bludgeon (190 Raw Green) and Strength Petalace III (+10 Raw) on Overhead Smash I the damage increases from 88 -> 106 being a 20% increase rather than 15%
    For Handicraft the sharpness limit is 400, rather than 350 standardly (Whetstones only recover 150 sharpness if memory serves as a point of reference)

    In regards to Guard up, this will NOT block all attacks, just most unblockable attacks. I say this because Valstrax ambush is 1 such attack and you will likely be carted for trying to. I imagine there's a few more (probably all mother narwa), but it's worth mentioning before you decide if it's worth it for you.

    • @TheBeardedFrogSage
      @TheBeardedFrogSage ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this was over a year ago and I'm sorry for digging up the skeleton, but I just want to clarify "Guard Up" works on those unblockable attacks if you're facing the attack when it happens. Sometimes you can be facing away for small attacks, but you have to face it for the big ones. Not the monster, because as we all know, Capcom's record with hitboxes is laughable at best. Sometimes you will get hit even though you are clearly outside of the hit zone, which I think the Guard Up still blocks when you have improper facing. I did block the Ambush once by facing backwards from where Valstrax was coming down - it seems to be a rear-facing attack even though he's in front of you. Speedtree did a good job overall, but there are still some relics that we've had to adapt to from Capcom's days. I also did this with Narwa's black orb attack, faced away from her at point blank and blocked it.
      But to clarify I was using a Lance, maybe it was just the tower shield? I'm not too sure about how it works even after all these years since my MH4U start.

First, you can eat them with the ‘pill’ animation, rather than the potion animation, so you can very quickly down Max Potions. Second, your carrying limit for the shrooms is a lot higher than the Max Potions. You can carry at least 10 Mandragora, and with Wide Range (and even better with Free Meal, too) you can do a *lot* of healing between Mandragora and Blue Shrooms (and I think you can carry like 20 of those).

    Sharpness 4 does make sense :
    Before 220 raw, Sharpness 4 is worse, after 220 raw, Sharpness 4 is better so you could say that Sharpness 4 is strictly bad because of the low raw.
    BUT
    If you have powercharm + powertalon (which you obviously have), will will get 205, so if you have in your build another +15 attack, sharpness type 4 is equal, and if you more than this, sharpness type 4 is better.
    Note that if you use Might Seed (10) + Mega Demondrug (7) + Demon Power (10), you get a + 27 raw which is enough at itself, and there is attack boost (+10), and there is resusitate (+20), and there is non elemental boost (+10), etc.
    Because all of this is meta, you should be able to easily get at least part of them and go above 220, Sharpness Type 4 is strictly better.
    The problem now is that Handicraft exist and will replace Sharpness 4 for most cases... so at the end, Sharpness 4 is bad (tho it can probably have some uses), but at least, it makes sense.

    Hunger Resistance is useful for Bow and Dual Blades on long hunts, but not a big thing. The longer your bar stays at its maximum the longer you have in Demon Mode and are able to fire consistently without needing to wait for regen period. Alternatively you could just reduce Stamina use with other abilities or use a Dash Juice.

    regarding Guard Up and the ability to block unblockable attacks, there is a problem if you only add 1 level of it; if lots of unblockable hits come in at once, it will eat through your health, I know... I ate some of Narwa's tracking lightning bolts that she releases from her tail, it ripped me to shreds!
    note: I was using the CB shield so that may have been the reason why I got destroyed but it's something to consider when making your sets

    Critical Draw: The icon above the health bar that shows an affinity boost sticks around for about 3 seconds, unless you dodge, or don't continue a combo, which will make the icon disappear early.
    In my own testing, where the only critical chance was coming from critical draw, I was able to get various critical hits throughout the dual blades' X->X->X->X->X combo (start from sheathed with forward and X, next four commands are X with no direction on the left analog stick, the last X uses a move called "circle slash", to replicate this testing method).

    As a Gunlancer, I feel obliged to mention that Focus, because of the way Charged Shelling works, only helps you get to the wide-exclusive level 2 charge (also called supercharged shelling) faster, and not the first level. Also, even with Focus, supercharged shelling is inefficient damage, so it is not recommended...

    • @laggalot1012

      @@KARLOSPCgame You don't need to supercharge shells, though. A regular charged shell is enough to let you do a fast wyrmstake and play into a Stake-focused playstyle, supercharging doesn't help in this regard. You're free to do it for kicks, of course, but practically speaking, there's no reason to supercharge your shells.

    • @Chonko99
      @Chonko99 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also for hellfire cloak its a set amount of time needed to knock monsters down, the first drop always knock them over then you have to hit them another 8 times with the hellfire drops to knock them over again. Usually you will kill the monster by this point but it goes up even further than that as well.

    4:20 There is actually a VERY MILD stacking effect to Bubbly Dance.
    _Bubbles and no Evasion give the equivalent of Evasion 2._
    _Bubbles plus Evasion 1 don't stack and again just give Evasion 2._
    _Bubbles Plus Evasion 2, actually increase it to the equivalent of Evasion 3._
    _And then finally Bubbles plus Evasion 3, 4, or 5 give the equivalent of Evasion 5 (you can't get any higher then Evasion 5)._
    ...
    It is not efficient to actually try and make it stack... Both Bubbly Dance and Evasion are level-2 decorations. But you'd need 3 Bubbly Dance and 3 Evasion to do the same as Evasion 5. The math doesn't add up.

  • @LucasTigy2
    @LucasTigy2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    when it comes to the sharpness skills:
    type 2 keeps the raw the same while giving you a lot of green, so it is useful with minds-eye as it benefits the most (excluding yellow) from the skill, plus you can add bludgeoner for a bonus 10% damage boost that stacks with all of your other attack up skills.
    type 4 is really only a trap in the sense that elemental is bad. elements on weapons are also affected by sharpness, so it would be useful on elemental weapons as, although you are losing out on a bit of raw, your elemental damage would also be buffed. i suppose this could be even better if you were to forsake raw for element for certain hit-zones, but as i said, element is not that great and i doubt this will ever be a good idea unless you need to farm a specific break or something.
    it's also important to keep in mind that there is also the benefit of not bouncing due the weapon being sharper and the natural white with no handicraft allows you to gem in some other damage skill to make up for the loss in overall damage.
    i wouldn't call it a "trap" but you do need to build around the weapon to make up for the damage reduction

    Pair mushroommancer with wide range and free meal! It's great for helping you look after newer players and team mates in rampages. If you pair it with a healing HH you can pretty much keep everyone topped to max. (I regularly run this with my Daughter as she still hasn't learnt how to heal quickly yet - though i make sure she goes back and solo hunts so she'll get the hang of it)
    Also what do you mean no one uses wall runner? If you're trapped in a corner a wall run can get you out of a jam. People need to learn it as it prevents so many carts!
