As a cb main since mh4u, i can say that this is a really good video. You showed almost everything there is and you summarized it pretty well: "it's like a dance" It really does feel like a dance, cb is a very rhythmic weapon, with a lot of precise timing. However, you still didn't mention everything (and i don't blame you, it's called the most complicated weapon for a reason), so I'll just list them here:
    1. Blocking attacks with your shield also charges your phials. I don't know if the amount charged depends on the strength of the blocked attack because i never bothered to test it, but simply blocking attacks charges phials, so keep that in mind.
    2. To charge your sword, your shield needs to be charged as well. This is not the case for charging the axe. If your shield isn't charged and you hold x after reloading, you'll still charge your axe. I recommend that you still charge your shield beforehand, because when the shield is charged, the axe deals more damage.
    3. Charging your axe also gives it mind's eye (only while actually spinning). So as long as you hold the button in axe mode, it won't bounce.
    4. The aerial Ultra Element Discharge (UED) from axe hopper does more damage than a normal one one the ground.
    5. The counter morph slash changes the guard point to the beginning of the morph attack instead of the end when switching from axe to sword mode. It's almost instant, so you can easily block attacks in axe mode.
    6. Phials do fixed damage. Just like gunlance shells, it doesn't matter where you hit the monster, they'll always do the same damage.
    7. Breaking parts is easier when you're axe charged, because it's more hits at once.
    8. You can cancel the endlag of most moves with another move. For example: in sword mode, just press x+a or hold a to charge and keep attacking infinitely. Basically, you can sorta flow from one attack into the next.
    Now here's some tips:
    1. If you want your playstyle to revolve heavily around UED spam, consider going with axe hopper and the sword charge instead of the axe charge. This will allow you to get your phials easier and deal the most damage possible with the UED, since the axe hopper UED does more damage. Also use load shells skill, more info below.
    2. You can stay in charged axe mode basically forever by using counter peak performance. Counter one hit, AED, power up shield, counter the next hit, boom, charged axe mode. When you need to defend, just use the counter again.
    Useful armor skills:
    Rapid morph:
Very useful, allows you to quickly switch between the axe and sword. If you're not that good with the guard point, maybe don't use this because it speeds up the animation, which means the guard point window is smaller. Consider using counter morph slash without rapid morph in this case.
    Evade extender:
Useful on any weapon because of the extra distance. Especially useful because of the little sidestep after attacks. Fade slash isn't affected by evade extender.
    Load shells (only lvl 2):
You charge your phials quicker and the yellow glow already charges your phials completely. Very useful for UED spam.
    Guard up:
At least one lvl should always be equipped on every weapon that can block. It allows you to block attacks that normally aren't blockable, for example, rakna kadakis flames. Also counts for counter peak performance, meaning that you can know counter literally any attack in the game.
    Guard:
Very good if you block a lot. It lessens stamina use, lessens the knockback you take when blocking and it lessens the chip damage you take when blocking.
Slugger (only on impact phial cb's):
Makes it easier to stun monsters. Not much to explain here. Useless if you're using elemental phials.
    Part breaker:
Especially useful with condensed spinning slash, since the multiple hits help break the parts faster. Very good for part-sniping.
Yeah, that's it from me. Very good guide, i just felt like filling in the few things you forgot and to add on to this guide as far as i can, simce i have a lot of experience with this weapon and i love using it. If there's any questions, I'll gladly answer. Have fun and happy hunting!

Heya. I haven't really ever used CB much, but am looking at getting into it. So I'm curious what a CB main thinks of the "Counter Peak Performance".
To me it almost seems like the "optimal" way to play would be to just spam that into ultra amped discharge as much as possible, since it restores your phials and lets you go directly into that very powerful attack.
Am I missing some downside to doing that? Are there other play styles that are as good as doing that?
I generally like the idea of using Ultra Amped Discharge a lot, but I don't want to just keep spamming it one after another like Counter Peak Performance seems to allow you to do. So like, in World, you would've at least had to charge up the phials again, but Counter Peak Performance takes care of that too.
I guess personally I just dislike spamming one move too much. With having to charge phials up again between them it would feel okay, but just spamming one after another if you manage to Counter Peak Performance it feel s a bit spammy (to me at least). So I'm wondering if that's really the new optimal thing to do.

    • @xardnaslp3171
      @xardnaslp3171 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@MaakaSakuranbo it really does feel like it's the optimal thing to do, but honestly, cb is very strong, so almost any playstyle is valid. I've seen people use only sword mode or only axe mode, I've seen very defensive and very aggressive playstyles and I've tried all of them out myself. They all work fine, so just play what's fun for you. The only downside i can think of in spammimg counter peak performance is that it's boring. Cb always has been a very strong weapon with practically no downsides whatsoever (if you know what you're doing), so there's no real "optimal" way. Sure, cpp into UED is probably one of the highest amounts of damage in a short period of time, but you also have to consider that axe hopper does way more damage and an UED after a countermorph also has increased damage, so you should consider dropping cpp.
I wrote a lot of shit over and over again, so a summary:
Most playstyles are valid because cb is very strong (pls don't nerf it capcom, thx)
If you don't want to spam one move, just don't do it. You'll still be able to easily kill monsters very fast.
Just do whatever is fun for you. I, for example, currently like to play a lot with the condensed spinning slash and just stay in axe mode as long as possible, simply because it's fun and it works! Most things just work.

@@MaakaSakuranbo I have been having success, and a lot of fun, using Axe Hopper instead of Counter Peak Performance. Axe Hopper lets you become much more accurate with your big UEDs because you have a wide window mid air where you can course correct and adjust to a monster's movement. Grounded UEDs don't have near this flexibility, unless you're doing a morphing advance. Counter Peak Performance + UED spam is max dps, but in multiplayer, it will be harder to hit with that counter with the monster running all over the place. Axe Hopper lets you adapt to the erratic movement of the monster.

I started MH with World, and since I must be a crazy person I chose CB as my first pick. 100 hours later, I dropped it because every time I mastered a move I learned about three new ones I wasn't aware of. And then there's the GPs, that to this day I just can't use properly (I have zero issues with the single GP of Gunlance for some reason). Its playstyle of always keeping up the tempo and always attacking while doing other things can really be overwhelming.
Don't get me wrong, this is a great weapon. But it can also be a very discouraging one. It is simultaneously very complex, very skill-intensive and not very satisfying at a low-to-medium skill level. If you're like me, someone who's concerned about playing cleanly, Charge Blade is the endeavour of a lifetime. It can be absolutely daunting and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who hasn't already a strong grasp on the game's mechanics.
One thing to note is that the same way you can play Longsword decently without using counters, you can totally focus on Charge Blade's more simple moves like Savage Axe. It then becomes like a Switch Axe sidegrade: a transformative weapon with high damage, low mobility, phial bonuses, stylish finisher moves and heavy resource management.

Something to note about Condensed Spinning Slash + Counter Peak Performance: You can do the Counter from Axe mode with your chainsaw out, then hold X to rev it up again, since it replaces the normal Condensed Element Slash that would have charged your sword.
Combine that with the Phial generation with holding X in chainsaw mode, and you can basically stay in chainsaw mode indefinitely.
That said, you do lose access to the emergency evade wirebug move with ZL + B, since that puts your weapon away and cancels chainsaw mode, but you are still just one Counter Peak Performance away from getting chainsaw mode again.
You can do dirty things to monsters by starting the fight with a morph draw attack into axe mode, counter the roar with Counter Peak Performance, X+A follow-up to AED, cancel the Amped Element Discharge into red shield, then counter again to block the monster's first attack with Counter Peak Performance, and hold X to go straight into chainsaw mode with full phials and full red shield, and as an added bonus your first wirebug is coming off cooldown in just a moment or two.

Very good tutorial of the basics :D
The X - X - X attack is commonly used! It gives you the fastest string of attacks which is useful in those moments where there is only a small window to act and lets you guard quickly after. It is also very good at delivering status ailments should your weapon have them. There are many moments in the game where that quick chain is really your only safe option.
In Axe-mode using the X - X combo is useful for chopping tails when they are a bit too high up for other attacks.

CB main here. Still watched the whole thing cause it was easily one of the best guides I’ve seen on the weapon. And sometimes I forget things and need a refresher.
A couple additional points for new players: 1) Guard Points actually provide additional protection compared to a normal guard. You will take less damage, lose less stamina, and flinch less from monster attacks, which is what makes countering from them easier than countering from normal guarding. You CAN still counter from normal guarding, but you are more likely to get flinched too much to actually do so. 2) The animations for Condensed Elemental Slash and Condensed Spinning Slash are fairly long, even when executed with the proper timing and while loading phials. Performing them from Counter Peak Performance is much faster and more efficient, with the added benefit that they will deal mounting damage, since they’re triggered from a Silkbind Art. They’re also the only follow-up from Counter Peak Performance that don’t spend phials in any way.
    Loved the guide!

I will say that once you're comfortable with Counter Morph Slash, you have good defense while in axe mode as well. This means you can use Axe Hopper to get a source of mounting damage, which is a thing you're completely lacking otherwise (barring regular draw attacks from sheathed wirebug moves).
Silkbind Counter also has a big drawback in that the recovery animation is relatively big even if you hit the counter (and incredibly long if you don't). This often leads to getting slapped by monsters that hit multiple times in rapid succession.

I actually think the slower counter morph is even better for people who are already good at timing the standard GP, because on top of doing more damage, its only downside being slower, is only the case if you don't guard point,
+ it puts the GP window for axe > sword morph at the beginning of the animation just like the standard sword > axe morph, effectively giving axe mode an instant guard option.
And if you're planning to stick to the condensed spinning axe playstyle, you're not going to be morphing manually as much anyway.

Don't know if anyone is even gonna see this at this point, since I'm a little late to the party, but I wanted to throw out a few tips I have as someone newer to the series, that helped my Charge Blade game play a lot.
One thing that seems pretty minor, but helps a lot with spacing, is that you don't have to spam X+A from sword mode to get to the ultra. Spamming is fine, especially when you are just trying to charge your shield, but it can really screw with your ability to space the move. The advancing slash that results from the first X+A input moves you really far forward. A lot of times this causes you to over shoot the mark, especially if you are aiming for the head. All that really matters is pressing X+A AFTER the shield thrust move, so a path with similar timing that won't throw you so far forward is X, X+A, X+A. This accomplishes the same thing, but you only have to space with the length of the axe in mind, not the advancing slash as well.
Canceling the Ultra into a normal amped discharge is super important, especially if you are going to whiff a hit. One thing that wasn't made clear in the video, with the default control scheme, you have to press back *with respect to your character*, not your camera. So if your character is facing left, you actually have to press Right + x to cancel. This is a little uncomfortable at first, but it's worth getting use to. You'll end up wasting a lot less philes.
Using the short cut from sword mode into the ultra element discharge is a popular and effective strategy, but you are seriously gimping yourself if you don't take the time to get comfortable in axe mode. Learning to fight in axe mode with shield and philes charged helps you understand the weapon, it's spacing and timings. The combo he mentioned here, Forward + X, A, X, A repeat can be used to dish out damage on the monster without over committing or blowing all your philes. If you don't want to move forward you can replace the Forward + X with just X, so you get X, A, X, A repeat. When I started playing charge blade in MHW, I focused on the shortcut method, and it really ruined my understanding of the weapon, and left me wasting a lot of smaller openings that I could have worked amped axe hits into, and worse, wasting A LOT of ultras (called supers in World -_-). It wasn't until I went back to MHGU, where using ultra's is not the best idea, that I really started to learn and understand the weapon.
These last two may have been mentioned in the video, but I'll add them anyway.
When in axe mode, you can jump straight to the ultra by pressing X+A, which is great for throwing the attack out quickly if you are already in axe mode.
You can add an ultra into an axe combo with an extra A input. So the above advancing combo would become Forward + X, A, A (or X, A, A for the non-advancing version) and that final A input will release an ultra, which is great for throwing the move out quickly if you realize an opening is larger then you originally thought. This also means you need to be careful that you aren't spamming button presses, because the extra A inputs could result in accidentally using an ultra when you don't want to.

The best guide I have seen so far, but everyone seems to overlook the fact that the Axe Hopper gives you the ability to use a very maneuverable UED. You can do your initial hit from the start of the jump, watch the monster while mid-air, and then do a complete 180 UED if you want to. There's a huge window while you're in the air to adapt to where the monster is moving. UED's become much more accurate via Axe Hopper. You can wait until the last second to decide to commit or not commit to a full UED, allowing for more efficient use of your phials. With a build that has extra focus on phial damage and refill, it can be not only fun but also do quite a bit of damage.
Normal grounded UEDs are much less flexible to course correction, unless you are doing a morphing advance which is also very flexible to course correction as you did mention. It is also worth mentioning that it is harder to land a counter following Counter Peak Performance in multiplayer, with the monster quickly switching between targets. Axe Hopper allows you to adapt to the erratic movement of the monster.

Nice guide, I’m sure it’s been mentioned but a couple of key points:
    A. Counter Morph changes GP to start of the animation. Making Axe gameplay much safer.
    B. Spamming X + Shield Thrust in sword mode is fantastic for status effect CB’s & if done to the face impact Phial KO’s (Not sure about elemental.)
    C. Axe Hopper let’s you change direction in 360 to land Ultra’s easier and more reliably.
    D. The reach of the X attacks in axe mode is fantastic for hitting tails and monsters out of reach or flying around (Rathalos/Rathian etc..) so it can flinch/drop monsters easily and cut tails wonderfully.
If I can think of any more I’ll edit.

Personally, I prefer Axe Hopper because it lets you aim your Elemental Discharge at the very last moment. Not only makes it hard to miss, you can aim with surgical precision. It also gives you the chance to cancel out if the monster teleports away during your wind-up, and all you'll spend was one wirebug. I've been having a lot of trouble landing SAEDs, but Axe Hopper has turned the weapon on its head for me and made it fun again.
To be fair though, I mained Aerial CB in MHGU, and Axe Hopper is like coming back home again.

You can also 360 aim the ultra discharge with your other silkbind, after the dash.
So that gives you the ability to aim it more easily while also keeping the counter.
So if thats all you want, thats aother option.

What I love about the Monster Hunter community, from what I've seen so far, is that while they often highlight the most damaging or meta option, it is never wrong to pick the fun option. I play games to have fun, and while it can be fun to be super good at stuff, it's also fun to just look cool and bash the beasties in different ways.

In defense of Axe Hopper not being as good as Counter Peak Performance:
    1. Axe Hopper has I-frames. While you are moving into the air. Right as you jump off the ground so you can go through attacks.
    2. Axe Hopper allows for 360 degree aiming while at the peak of the jump. This means you can execute the skill and completely 180 the direction of the follow up attack. SUPER useful if you want to get a UAED off on a monster and they quickly moved out of the way. Ground UAED after a CPP can only be redirected slightly at a very small window for input.
    3. Axe Hopper also allows you to target high reaching heads and tails effectively. Really nice when you want to get a AED on a monsters head for a stun.
Just a few things. I use it for these things because I like mobility over defense. Stylish doesn't always mean "without substance". To each their own though. Digging the videos Khan! Keep it up!

What I don't like about CPP is the long recovery animation if it didn't counter the attack and it reset the state of your charge phial, so if you have another fully uncharge phials ready already (to make two SAED for example), it reset to only 1 fully charged phials. Anything else is awesome, especially where you can pretty much trigger on every move, unlike GP which tied to a specific move.

Recently I again decided to find another weapon besides my (beloved) hammer, and charge blade seemed like the one that fit my play style the best. after watching this vid a few more times I think I'm starting to get the hang of it, and god is it fun. Absolutely amazing tutorial, you broke everything down into an easily comprehensible scale, even though this is such a tough weapon. I will say though, condensed spinning slash feels way more satisfying and smooth, and it makes this weapon really enjoyable.

Very informative video and as a Charge Blade player I learned a few new things! Some niche things that might be worth knowing that didn't get covered in video is that...
    1. That shield jab attack will actually do phial damage, so if it is impact it will do KO damage and if it is elemental it will deal your elemental or status damage. Not very important but cool to know.
    2. Your fade slash can be used going forward as well and will end in a guard point. Important to know because as charge blade you don't really want to sheath and sometimes you can't or don't want to do the morphing advance with a silk bug. So if you do (X+A, A) you will do a lunging slash forward and if you hold forwarding will pressing A after you will do a sliding slash forward and cover a good amount of ground will ending in a guard point, which is pretty safe when you get use to it.
    3. The guard switch skill is more counter damage, which you talked on, as well as making the guard point from sword -> axe mode a bit longer. BUT more importantly for axe -> sword mode it changes the guard point at the end of the transformation to one at the beginning, giving you a frame 1 guard point while in axe mode.
4*. Now this might be a bit different from world and is a bit technical so take it with a grain of salt but from what I've played I think it might be the same. So first of all guard point gives you a better guard than normal blocking. I think the equivalent is like a guard 2 skill or something. Now what I'm unsure of is in World having your shield powered also gave you an equivalent to guard 2 just passively, so if you had a charged shield, with 1 guard skill, and you guard pointed, you would have the equivalent of guard 5 for that attack. I have not tested of those hidden values are the same for Rise, but thought worth mentioning.

One small, very situational tip that can help a lot when you have small openings, is if you know you only need one roundslash to get to red charge and you want to get off an ultra before the monster gets up, you can side hop to skip right into a roundslash, since that has a significant charge multiplier and is faster than holding A for a full charge slash. Sounds small, but knowing it's available has let me land countless ultras that would have missed if I did a charge slash.

You didn't mention this about the counter morph slash, but the axe to sword morph attack does have a guard point animation at the beginning of the attack rather than the end like the regular morph slash. I agree that it feels weird and a bit sluggish compared to the regular morph slash, but it gives you a reliable guard point you can use from axe form with the downside being that if you miss it you can be easily punished.

  • @Eishern
    @Eishern 3 ปีที่แล้ว

2 things to point out. First of all, you do not have to guard point an attack to transition to a ultra element discharge. You can use it after a regular block too. The advantages of guard points are a) small phial damage during the block and b) less knockback. Think of it like a free guard skill +1 (or +2, dont know the exact values, but less flinch anyway).
The second point is regarding the condensed element slash and condensed spinning slash. Rurikhan always combined it with charging his phials. But you dont need either sword energy nor phiales to transition to an condensed slash. You can use the charge animation without any energy to charge. Just charge (ZR + A) and hold X, no matter when.

Couple of points of order on guard point. Guard pointing also raises the strength of your block by one level, meaning some hits will stagger you less. Charging your shield also increases the stability of your shield, and these bonuses stack. So, if your shield is charged and you guard point an attack, you are getting the effect of the skill Guard 2 for free. If you block an attack and the knockback is too great, you won't be able to transition into other moves from the block, so guard pointing can help you keep your offense going in this situation. Furthermore, I believe that guard pointing negates the sharpness loss on guarding with the charge blade, which really helps keep your sharpness up. Try to always guard point with the axe transition (ZR+X) whenever you are in sword mode so that you gain these benefits. The guard frames are on the startup of the move, which means you can always do it on reaction to guard point in any situation where you could have normal guarded instead.

Honestly, as a brand new Monster Hunter player, I took to the Charge Blade pretty well, and even though I’m by no means a master, the best advice on how to practice I can give is the same advice as how I’d tell you to eat an elephant: one piece at a time. I started with the absolute basics of the Sword mode: what my attacks are, what I can and can do after each move, and when I charge phials. I incorporated more and more things into my play as time went on: I charge my shield and sword on the regular, I switch to Axe when opportunities present themselves, and I can even reliably use the Guard Points on many attacks. As of now I’m focusing on how best to use the Silkbind attacks.
Overall, it’s a very fun weapon once you understand how to flow from one thing to the next, but don’t let the full package intimidate you. Take it one step at a time.

Hey, not sure you'll see this since the guide has been out for a few weeks, but maybe it would be a good idea to go over the mechanics of the more complicated weapons first. Like every guide for the morphing weapons starts by talking about the moveset in the base form, then kinda stumbling into a point where you can't continue without talking about the unique mechanics of the weapon. It might be more helpful to get an understanding of what the weapon wants to do, then explain the moveset. That way you can go ahead and explain every move, without feeling like you're going to swamp a new player.
For charge blade: You'd start by explaining the idea of charging phials, loading them, and how that affects axe mode. Then you can explain the different moves. This way a player can think about and process what the moves are used for, while you're talking about that same thing.

Really impressed by the amount of caring and professionalism you put on your videos, after I came across some other streamers just flexing their stuff and giving stealth spoilers.
I started the game only some days ago, that's my first time into the mh universe so it's everything new for me. I wanted to switch to something like wf that became a speed run only about efficiency.
But I remember the way I was used to farm like in oblivion and other old rpg open world games so I already got a lot of stuff to craft and try many weapons such as this charged blade which seems both challenging and rewarding with his unique mechanics and design.
I tried multiplayer but honestly I didn't like it; seemed to me the usual speedrun to flex mostly wrong combos on target without any plan at all, like I was the only one using riding to make fights with monsters to get more stuff, but it was just a try without any filters whatsoever. But I guess for now I will concentrate more on the story, lore and gameplay and will just use hub to combine with other generalist quests.
Eventually I will reach the usual speedy efficient pace at some point because it just happens to me in all games, starting very slow then going very impatient at some point, but for now I wanna smell the roses between hunts lol.
What it really scares me the most for now is the rampage mode, I did a couple and even if I won I felt kinda overwhelmed and ended just melee the final threat at the main gate. I hoped at first was gonna be like some tower defence game where you plan all the towers but instead you have to wire all the time to any tower in an unclear map with so many targets at once. 😨

Hi @Rurikhan Im a bit of a CB main, thought id add some infor for you with Counter Morph Slash. As you mentioned, the window for a guard point(GP) lasts longer, this is both good and bad, and can be adjusted to taste with Rapidmorph. The biggest advantage of Counter Morph Slash is that GPs become instant activation for the morphing GPs. There is absolutley zero frame delay between starting the 2 morph attacks, and the GP becoming available. For me personally i use that instant availability to offset the loss of a counter, when im using Axe Hopper.
Another big benefit of Counter Peak Performance is that both the Condensed Slash attacks charge up significantly faster when chained from a successfull Counter Peak Performance.

    Great video!
I feel it's also worth mentioning that you do not have access to Condensed Spinning Slash or Axe Hopper until you reach Hub rank level 5, and do the quest to obtain the skills. Also keep in mind that's hub exclusive. Village rank 5 will **not** get you the quest or the skills.
I just wanted to mention it because I was really confused why I couldn't get the axe head to spin or hop around, but every guide acted like it's something that comes with the weapon.
Lastly.. I dunno. I feel axe hopper is better than the peak performance. Lets you slam monsters on the head with a UAED, along with the following elemental damage way quicker and more accurately. Yeah you lose your ability to get your phials back in one block, but getting 5 phials is so quick and easy when you are well practiced with sword mode and using elemental slash + shield bash.
Look forward to your other tutorials!

Importantly the counter morph slash makes the switch back into Sword from Axe have a guard point at the start like Sword to Axe rather than at the very end of the strike as well as about 20% more damage on Phials (Not initial hit just phials) from attacks that expend phials particularly Ultra Elemental discharge.

  • @robingrob9717

I think you missed to talk about the charge phials follow up attacks. If you charge your phials you can immidiatly attack out of that animation. If you charge phials and press x you'll do a sword attack that also procs a phial even without having the sword charged (handy to just get more stun in). If you press a after charging the phials you immidiatly go into the axe combo which is the fastest way to switch into axe mode so if the monster is down and you need to charge your phials just press a afterwards and you'll be able to do the whole axe combo basically out of swordmode.

Everytime I get a new game, I always choose the most complex characters/weapons even when I don't know the complexity level of them.
Guess I'm attracted to this kind of stuff

This was one of the best weapon guides I have seen so far . I had a hard time with the charge blade because it feels so slow in comparison to the faster monsters. I was a charge blade main in previous mh games and your guide really showed me was has changed in world and ice borne since i played them both very rarely. After this video I want to come back to charge blade even more 😁

Just for information, what you didn't mention about Counter Morph Slash is that it moves the guard point animation from the end of the axe -> sword transformation to the beginning of it. That means you have much more control of guard pointing from axe mode. You simply press ZR and X to guard point in axe mode the same way you would in sword and shield mode. Beyond that, it also extends the guard point window for both transition animations, making timing your guard points a bit more forgiving.

when you want to cancel an ultra to amped and your camera is not on your back, you can press L before press down + x
edit: forgot to mention that your target camera controls setting should be type 2, if you set it to type 1 then it will be double press L

I remember a few years ago with MHGU when I started with this franchise I wanted something more flashy and complex than long Sword.
I really loved the abilities and the versatility of this weapon.
Seeing how the moveset changed in this game, hell even if they've lost the giant laser beam, I think they really do a lot of good changes, the switch abilities are really useful and fun.

It took me 65 hours into MHW to realize Charge Blade was my calling lol, it was SO satisfying to use the mid animation guardpoints, the ones from when you shield is facing a monster inbetween doing something else, especially against Teostra's big ol bang attack and survive while everyone else ran lol.
That being said, in Rise, at least for now, I have switched to GunLance, a weapon I previously didn't like much, but flying around like a Rocket-Powered-Witch and whooping ass is SOOOO fucking satisfying lol
