How Were The Boston Celtics Even Allowed To Do This.. | NBA Finals News (Jrue Holiday, White)

  • Well, the Boston Celtics have now officially taken a 2-0 lead in the 2024 NBA Finals vs the Dallas Mavericks. And after what we just witnessed in game 2 of Celtics Mavs, many believe the Celtics should not have come away with the victory. However, they did. And undeniably the biggest reason as to why they now have a 2-0 lead heading to Dallas for Game 3, is solely because of their backcourt in both Jrue Holiday and Derrick White.
The Celtics offense revolved around both Jrue Holiday and Derrick White in this game. And with the complimentary help of Jayson Tatum from time to time, Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, etc, Joe Mazzulla stuck to what was working in feeding the backcourt consistently, whether that was near the rim or on the perimeter.
Then there’s also the Celtics defense, which was phenomenal again starting with the duo of Derrick White and Jrue Holiday. And along with this, the help of Porzingis, Al Horford, JT, JB, and even Sam Hauser and Payton Pritchard off the bench, the Celtics have held the Dallas Mavericks to under 100 points in both NBA Finals games thus far. And now, we’ll have to see if that trend continues in Game 3 of the NBA Finals Wednesday.

They can't stay together that long. Tatum Max contract will force White elsewhere. Porzingus is only there for one more year. Jrue is there four years, including this one. So, it's back to the open market after this year and how you going to replace White and Porzingus without money? And then Horford is likely gone after this year. So it's a mini rebuild after next year. They could go back to back, but that's only if Brown/Tatum play like Luka in the years to come.

What surprises me most is that the Mavs are here instead of Denver, Okc, or the T'Wolves. Hats off to them. BUT, if the Celts prevail, it will be a re-confirmation of the old truism: Offense wins games, defense wins championships. Holiday and White are monsters.

      @arguseyed9982 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

League pushed Mavs for no reason. You didn`t see these travels, soft fouls called. Mavs bigs were almost never in foul trouble. They were winning some dubious challenges, like the one form yesterday with the "hand is part of the ball" would sure be gifted to them in previous rounds. But the most glaring proof is the Last 2 minutes report. Mavs have 8 games in there: In 5 the calls were helping them, in 2 the calls were even and in 1 the calls helped the opponent. This team was not better than OKC and not better than Wolves. Even the Kawhiless Clippers could have beat them if refs gave them a fair call.
Oddly, so far in the finals it looks like the gloves are off. No more help coming their way from the officials, they are on their own and true value is exposed.

Glad Jrue and D White are getting their props...I honestly thought there was a case to be made for Jrue to get finals MVP...as a Cs fan, it was hard seeing Marcus leave last season but he had a tendency to want to be the hero along with the Js, and it was a detriment to the team...thats why jrue was the perfect pickup...knows his role and executes every night. He has as much off the ball impact than anyone in the league. Can't wait to repeat in '25!

Jrue Holiday for the entire PLAYOFFS 95 50 and 40. Yes, those numbers are in rarified air, with only a few players achieving 90-50 40 for the season. Tatum and Brown are supposed to be the all-tars, but Holiday, White, and Porzingis are right there. You literally have five all-star starters. Simply amazing.

I think that Dallas might, if they haven’t tried it, consider a 3-2 zone defense and/or a full court press on and off but particularly early in the games. They could theoretically wait until key moments to use the press, however when Boston looks uninterested.

Great analysis! Yes, the Celtics do have many ways to put pressure on other teams. Jrue is one gem of a player, I love his focussed and at the same time relaxed manner of carrying himself. The same for Derrick White. Great guys who give their best. As much that I want the Mavs to win these Finals, I do not think they can win it. Boston is overwhelming the Mavs and I am starting to appreciatie their efficient and effective way of playing the game. Keep up the great content!

What matters is not how good your best player is, but how good your 8th best player is.
The Celtics mastered the art of roster depth.
We've seen it in baseball. Its about time the NBA starts coming around to it.
Also, the hand is considered a part of the ball. Anything contact to the hand that is in contact with the ball (that's not excessive) is legal.
The foul in question was Brown's forearm on the back.
Knowing NBA refs though, I'm surprised they didn't call it a foul.

Mavs fans used to be cool you know, back when they supported Dirk. They lost their ability to be rational now. Luka, as great on offense as he is, is a always a liability on defense. Sure, he gets some stops but he wears himself out fast bc of his heavier weight and offensive load. But instead of looking of that, Mavs fans mad Kyrie isn't shooting well. The dude is past 32. No more young legs so even open shots will be off in a deep playoff run!

I know a lot of people don't play basketball but the reason why PJ Washington got blocked is because he jumped off of 2 feet instead of one foot, which if you played basketball you know that that slows down your momentum and that gave white and brown the opportunity to catch up and block the shot. But the real reason that the Mavericks will lose this series is because there are two best players have absolutely no defense so every time one of the stars or players any player for that matter because their defense is so terrible Boston is getting a lot of open jump shots this is one of my favorite series of all times because it reminds you that just because you can play good on offense doesn't mean that you're a great player

Celtics are two wins away from being the team of the 2020’s by a big gap, more conference finals appearances than anyone else this decade, tied with Miami in finals appearances this decade, all that’s left is adding a ring to it and with JT & JB still in their mid 20’s Jrue signed into his vet years, see how much longer Horford plays, White is the perfect compliment player, Porzingis health will be a factor long term probably.
