Your comparison is by far the best i have watched. I'm coming to Bali in august and i will try to introduce my 4year old kid to snorkeling for start...so i bought dji action4. Hope kiddo will love diving as much as i do.
Thank you. Yeah, it gives softer image and colours, agree. Just Ace Pro films against light better, while Action 4 footage is dark. Will make another video about it.
Thank you. If I’m planning to slow something down then yes, otherwise usually I capture 30 or 60fps cause easier to edit. With 120 fps it’s really heavy for computers processor.
The Log capture of the Osmo 4 is a winner, it will colour grade well. you can recover more colour from the deeper dives. In the shallows they all work fine. Osmo 4 in standard colour 10 bit is very good, I use it for B roll capture, i.e. diving into water, descending at start of dive, surfacing etc. It all depends if you want to colour grade it. If yes then the Osmo 4 is a clear choice. Once you get deeper with any action camera without lights, its never going to be good.
Hi Martin, great video! Appreciate the effort and time to make such informative videos. Btw have you tried it after the new software update for the insta360?
Hi Chester. The last video on my channel about dsmb’s underwater part is shooted with updated firmware. But today will film side by side with DJI OA4, so will upload soon.
Good comparison video. I plan to use the DJI OA4 with the DJI dive case in an upcoming dive trip. If you could share your camera setting I would find that helpful. ISO range, shutter range, EV, white balance, FPS, aspect ratio, stability/RockSteady. Thank you for the video..
Thank you for kind words) I actually recommend to film in normal (Dwarp not wide) mode. It's interesting do try out D-Log M but than it requiring editing and colour grading. If you are familiar with LUT's than D-Log is for you. Otherwise down to 25 meters cameras temperature sensor is doing great. I will upload soon a new video, where I was filming only in normal mode. Also I recommend to leave everything in auto mode, then there's more chance for successful footage. If there would be access to pro settings underwater, then yes, but since touchscreen doesn't work through diving case, then presetting can be dangerous simply because visibility and light changing dramatically.
@@MartinSlisans I have a number of presets for 30 and 60 fps with standard dewarp and wide FOV. Easy to access them. Color temp 5600º, normal color mode, ISO 100-800, shutter 1/200 - 1/8000, RockSteady. I am concerned about the ISO being too constrained but don't want too much noise. Color I can correct in post if needed. I will be in the Cayman Islands where the visibility and clarity is superb.
@@gstrek With all that knowledge you have Action 4 will not disappoint you. Don’t think I can recommend anything simply because all depends on water conditions. I am sure that will be great footage! Enjoy the trip!
How is the footage of the ace pro so much clearer and more coulourful? Is the dji osmo action 4 footage while comparing with the ace pro colour graded or shot in Auto mode?
Ace Pro footage is edited by built in AI so straight out of camera we get descent quality footage, but it's quite to edit it by yourself. While DJI footage first was filmed using D-Log M mode and of course I colour graded it, otherwise all footage is flat. Only octopus and another of last clips were filmed in normal/auto mode.
I don't care for the image quality. they're all good enough. What I need it a remote control that can turn on/off multiple cameras and start/stop recording in sync. Plus if a wireless microphone can be used and will also turn on/off with the cameras and automatically pair with the camera when everything is turned on. But... none of this works. Like... not at all. There's no solution from any of the vendors and I hate it. Stop improving image quality and make them usable.
Actually both DJI and Ace Pro has remote controls. Insta360 and DJI has watch like remote control. And DJI mic 2 can be connected to more than one camera same time. Works with any camera perfectly, just tested. store.dji.com/product/osmo-action-gps-bluetooth-remote-controller?vid=144561 store.insta360.com/product/gps-action-remote But they are not working underwater))
@@MartinSlisans At least the Insta360 remote controls cannot control more than one camera. It works for one pairing, but after turning the cameras off, the remote only turns the last connected one on. If the DJI remote control can start multiple cameras, I'l go an buy two action 5 (once out) with remote control and DJI mics... Does the DJI mic connect automatically after the camera is turned on? How fast?
@@hagnbike Good point. Yes, you are right Insta360 pairing only with one camera at a time. How many cameras can be connected to one DJI remote I don't know. Mic was connecting immediately as long camera started recording when it was Action 4. I noticed that with iPhone is not that fast.
Got the same feeling while filming at bigger depths, like at 50 meters plus. Edges were soft. Maybe the pressure effecting diving case. There's no problem at shallower depths. Planning to get proper housing for greater depths than will see.
Thank you for the video. Im waitting for mine to come.
Great! Which one you’ve got?

I'm still waiting for Osmo Action 5 which will be released in August or September 2024.
Thank you. Sounds exciting. Maybe also 8k, who knows.
great review and comparison!
☺️ Thank you!
man, am I glad I got the ace pro back in June. did u use pure mode on your ace pro in this video or the usual underwater setting?
Normal mode.
Thanks! Beautiful footage! I like Ace Pro footage better
Thanks for commenting.
Nice rebreather 😉

Спасибо. Думаю, я сделал ошибку в основном сравнивая хвалённый D-Log DJI c AI Ace pro. Надо было сделать Нормальный режим DJI по больше.

Did you shoot in wide mode on the dji?
I don't like wide, so all was recorded in standard.
With the dji there seems to be some kind of grey veil over the footage - its not as clear as the ace pro

I noticed that too. ACE images looked sharper. But I like DJI's colors better, they are warmer and more natural.
Stop switching the left and right screens! Its really hard to follow!
