i remember when particular mushroom made a version that required you to input the caves into the game yourself, i'm just gonna guess this is the ultimate version of the beta and i can't wait to get into it :D
yeah i kinda typed it out without thinking because hype, i've had a very happy day overall. particular mushroom's randomizer has caves and challenge support but requires hacking knowledge, and comparing yours and his versions, i thought to myself 'if pmushy's rando is the alpha, this is the superior beta' and that's how that went. also i played it for a bit, but does difficulty do anything with the flowers? i started hardcore and the flowers got one-shot so i assumed i left a cheat on (i didn't) and started a new game on what i assume is normal because i forgot to go back to check. enemies also die really fast for me, using vanilla game and normal difficulty. are they meant to die fast, and does hardcore change that/cave generation?
For a Pikmin 2 randomizer to be really interesting I think that someone would need to go above and beyond with what exactly is being randomized. Not only would enemies, treasure upgrades, and caves be randomized, but there would have to be a few extra things added in to spice things up. Maybe players could start with randomized captains and when the King of Bugs treasure is collected maybe it could cause one of the characters to swap out with another. It would also help if special encounter days were randomized within a time frame that would allow veteran players to have a realistic chance of experiencing them during their playthroughs (rather than waiting forever to see beady long legs or to encounter those poisonous bugs from the WW). It's too bad that the project likely won't be finished.
I appreciate this comment as I can tell you put thought into it, but with all due respect I do not get where you are coming from. It allready changes so many things about the game that ARE what matter to a Pikmin veteran! It seems you're asking for more features that aren't even that important. Random captains are just cosmetic, even if cool sounding. Getting king of bugs and becoming Louie sounds cool, but has nothing to do with a randomizer. Special event days does sound cool but it still wouldn't be neccessary in a randomizer for a good experience. I hope you understand my thoughts on the matter.

I'm stuck at the part in the readme, "In the clean USA final disc "sys" folder replace the "main.dol" with the "pikmin 2 randomised installation" folders "main.dol", since there is no "sys" folder anywhere. I'm using a clean USA final v 1.0.0. Any help would be appreciated. Edit: so I figured it out. The main.dol file should be renamed to "Start.dol" and it goes in the "&&systemdata" folder and should replace the "Start.dol" file in it. The hack works great now without any issues so far. Hope that helps some people who are stuck.
1. I totally think you should revive this project, it would be huge! 2. Even if you decide to not work on the project further, would you mind sharing the fix begin cache code and other codes you have for the game to help it run better for everyone interested in the current build?
Where am I supposed to get the files to extract the randomizer files into? I have the game, but my CD drive does not read it. I've also tried from an iso, but that kinda failed... I've tried to add your discord but can't seem to be able to add you.
I was having some issues with the Pikmin attack being too high and just destroying bosses in seconds. Is there a newer release of this or is it just a dead project? Btw this mod kicks ass and is a really cool concept!
I have to ask... Whats exactly randomized in the caves? I see that the layout, the enemies , teasures and objetcs, like walls are putted in. The number of trasures you can get in each cave, the numbe of floors, and the cave boss and the upgrade you get is also randomized? In my opinion, the general cave layout shuld not be changed, so each cave has something special and dont feel like all the caves are the same thing, out of the enemies and the treasures randomized,

When playing with the mod some sounds are super loud and crackly, this doesn't happen when playing with the same unmodified copy of Pikmin 2
