Appreciate DL taking accountability for his past actions instead of saying ‘others’ were the problem. Allowing people to grow and change their views is part of life, seems like that’s left out of the discussion way to much nowadays

Really impressed with Bio but also with DL for being so self-critical and reflect on his words and actions of the past. A lot of people would think that they did nothing wrong if they didn’t use slurs, but as Bio said, oftentimes it is just about creating a certain atmosphere.

He’s has been nothing but a problem since he’s retired someone needs to put doublelift in check. From constantly flaming everyone ever, and normalizing being rude, the only thing he’s done right is put TSM into light for being cruel. Double has a lot to attest for too. I’m not impressed, he’s doing what everyone should be doing, respecting LGBTQ community.
Edit: i have nothing against people righting their wrongs . I just don’t think creating a trash talk podcast and being a pessimist is the way to fix other players/orgs. I’ve followed double since CLG and find a lot of his content funny (i mean I’m following his “more doublelift youtube”) but the way he’s talked about other pros/lcs since his retirement is not it.

    2. But on the other hand, I wish this wasn't seen as brave, because it should be something normal if that makes sense. I'm Bi myself, I don't act particularly gay , my behavior is odd sometimes as in un-coordinated, but I've had plenty of GFs before , first time I faced homophobia, was when
going out on a party with my friends dressed as a Nun(haloween) and a girl on a street said something to the likes of...
"LOOK THIS GUY IS BENT" ... in fact Guys have been very supportive in my personal life, I've face more criticism from women
... it felt weird af not gonna lie, but then again I've never felt influenced by anyones opinions
If you're gay or bi and think just regular guy behaviour to be toxic I think , you're not being honest with yourself.
I talk like that about guys , with my gay friends too , it's not unique to Straight people.
The real homophobia is TARGETED and Intentional.

I mean it was from Biofrost own experience, since he was 8. He got in touch with his own sexuality but the environment he was surrounded in really didnt provide a safe, comfortable sense to be open. Thus, it creates a build up and all the toxicity from the community makes it burst.
I myself also dont really have a problem with straight guys being a lil too careless to assume. But i do hope that straight guys and girls and actually everyone to not just assume other people always into the opposite gender.

@@senpajishere6203 A lot of worries are hugely exaggerated majority of people are open to the fact once they know , if they don't know they don't simply assume you're gay and treat you "normally". Nobody is a mind reader , the fact that you felt uncomfortable is really unrelated. You have to put aside your own fears and worries and look at people objectively.
There is a very distinct difference between peoples behavior when they know and don't know , and vast majority of people are not that "scared" of it.
Majority of the Homophobia and bullying comes from people poor backgrounds who are already troublemaker or people that are naturally extremist. Extremist religious , extremist Family values.
In League I've been making gay jokes and not once Have I heard anything remotely homophobic , toxic yes , but homophobia is a no-no. Some people not knowing that I'm Myself BI , would even assume I'm being homophobic. When in reality is the opposite.
So It's VERY difficult for me to imagine that being gay changes anything for a pro player, it's noting like when I WAS YOUNG ,being gay would automatically exclude you from ALL forms of Social interactions and you could be fired from your job for it. Different times
tl;dr'; Your discomfort is not a sign someone is homophobic , it's a sign that you need to say something rather than to keep everyone in the dark and assume they're evil.
You need to take personal accountability for keeping it a secret too.

When I was a kid we would literally use the word gay as a way to express discontent. Stories like this highlight why we should normalize people just coming out. If Biofrost had felt like he could've walked in day 1 as a pro and said he was gay, I'm sure all the uncomfortable situations between him, DL, and others could've been avoided. • @connix69

What we should actually normalize is assuming that anyone you meet could be LGBTQ+ and just assume that any point on the sexuality spectrum could apply to that person until you learn differently. But, yeah, that isn't going to happen anytime soon. Coming out is a very complicated thing and isn't as easy as just doing it. Some people go decades before feeling okay with coming out. Sometimes it is because of financial reasons, or safety reasons, or religious reasons, or, or, or. Even if day 1 as a pro he knew it wouldn't affect his job, that doesn't mean he would feel okay doing it.

I'm personally not super offended by the word f*ggot or derivatives of that word, but friends struggle to realize that using it as a general pejorative doesn't divorce it from it's context/history as a slur. Somehow it's a controversial take among gamers that using an unchangeable aspect of someone's identity as an insult (even towards something unrelated) can ever not be disrespectful.
Cause I've told one of my friends it was cool for him to keep using it and like I'm definitely not going to just drop him because I care about him, but I wish this issue didn't get reduced to "PC culture" or censorship. It's just plain and simply about respecting one another.
