The E350 is actually surprisingly reliable for a luxury car. If you take care of these cars, then you really wont have many major issue.

We've had the e320 and two different years of the e350. They can be reliable, but we've had issues with the interior quality. Things come apart on the dash like the wood trim and the seats do tear easily at the seams. We tried getting help, but were told it would cost far too much and not be worth it.
Parts are expensive so keep that in mind. Also avoid the dealership for any mechanical work whatsoever.
As long as you don't get a dud, which happens with any manufacturer, then the e class is the most reliable and recommended class in the benz lineup. I'm unsure about the other models.
The manual does tell you everything either. We have a factory remote start and there was 0 documentation about it. The local mechanic had to show us and we were surprised and confused because this whole time we never heard about it having a remote start at all.

I had a 2011 e350 4matic for a few years, then replaced it with a 2014 which I still have. Both were/are station wagons in the luxury trim. Both were CPOs with MB warranties. The 2011's rear air suspension failed but was covered by the CPO warranty and was otherwise fine. The 2014 is no longer under CPO warranty but it has been and remains completely reliable and trouble free at about 85k miles. I've thankfully experienced none of the issues discussed here. It's as dependable as (dare I say it?) a Toyota!

@@HasinShahadArRafi I did myself. It wasn't hard at all. But if I would have to guess, it would most likely cost around $100-$200 average depending on who you go to (parts pricing varies while labor prices are relatively the same). I would advise you to do it yourself if you're confident enough because it will possibly start doing it again. I live in a very cold state up north so most European cars will start to have electrical issues meaning that you will most likely run into the same problem again in the future.

My 14' had shift issues in 4th and 5th, software update fixed this. Places like FCP Euro recommend replacing camshaft sensors every couple years, as they will wick oil into the wire harness and flood the PCM with oil causing failure and harness and PCM both will need replacement. My M276 occasionally has startup noise, dealer tried to fix but with no success. I change oil too often and noise is not as bad, one cause may be the car sits a lot as I am now retired. Car has 142k miles on it, it runs good and strong. Radio did blow an IC chip, had the speaker output power rails (ic chips) replaced in radio. Rain sensor failed, easy fix. Keep motor and transmission mounts fresh to keep down vibrations and noise. Replace belt, idler and tensioner pulleys at the same time. Mercedes is discontinuing a great many parts for these cars, so learn who the OEMs are so when yours fail, you can keep going. I use Delphi for front control arms, Akebono pads, Mann filters, Purflux oil filter, OE Mercedes trans filter, buy extras for Mercedes parts. My friend has 278k on his 2014 and he DIY everything.

I had two metal clanging noises in the interior of my 2014 E350. First was from the middle backseat seatbelt tensioner. It has a plastic housing holding a steel ball beating that will cause the seatbelt to lock in case of a rollover. Problem is the ball bearing bangs against the metal frame of the car. Gotta take a lot out of the car, like the entire backseat and remove the part. Next was a clanging noise caused by a loose screw in a cross beam in the roof. There are TH-cam videos to help with both.

2013 E350 4Matic purchased as CPO with 20,000 miles. Now has 126,000 miles and the only mechanical issue I’ve had was due to the MBZ ‘high-end’ dealership service department installing the wrong spark plugs at its 100K mileage maintenance. And the imitation leather driver’s seat bottom splitting at the seam. This is a known issue and should’ve required a recall or service notice to replace. Other than that, regular maintenance and cleaning keep the car top notch condition. I’ve done a couple clay bar treatments and rarely, rarely take it through an automated car wash and only to get the undercarriage rinsed off of salt in the winter.

It look more like a C-class and was hard to decipher between the two. I have a 2014, E-400 and love the car. I am very meticulous with my scheduled maintenance, and have experienced very few unexpected issues. The OEM battery died, as they all eventually will do, but it just ceased functioning this year. I have had one oil leak, and one issue with the MBrace software not updating successfully. To date, that is the only unrepaired item since the functionality of MBrace seems unimportant to me at this point. I was slightly tapped by another vehicle on the rear bumper, poking a small hole, so I had the rear bumper replaced, as well as the front one replaced and the paint touched up at the same time. Otherwise, the exterior and interior are nearly flawless on this 82K mile sedan.

Thanks for the information on the E350’s. I am finally getting another Mercedes after an eleven year hiatus. Previously I drove a S550, SL500 and SDL350. The diesel went to 250,000 miles before I got rid of it. The gas engine cars were around 100,000 miles before trading for trucks and SUV’s. My brother bought several E models for his wife and I enjoy the sporty looks and ease of driving through the city. Also parking is easier than the suburban. I still have my SUV but will be inheriting my moms 2013 E350 that is a hybrid and I was wondering if it is worth keeping or should not.

I have a 2014 E350 4matic with 97,000 miles. After my last service, my brakes failed. The rear brake lines had corroded and cracked ($2700). The rear suspension was corroded as well. After that repair, the sound system started making loud cracking sounds. The techs were not sure how to fix it. They said to replace the speakers but were not sure if it would work. The next step would be to replace the amp. This car has performed great for me until now. This sound repair would be over $3000 so now I have to wholesale it out. Very sad ending to a great experience. BTW my driver seat ripped at the seems around 40,000 miles and that was replaced.

At 100k the car is running like new - just routine maintenance. The only issue was at about 50k the seat stitching came apart. I've never had a car's seats break open and I've owned some pretty crappy cars. The service people were very unconcerned and told me $650 to stitch it back up - final offer. My experience is that the E350 is a very reliable car but the MB service people are terrible. Find a good independent auto mechanic!

I have a 2010 E350 CDi Sport 642.850 engine. Beautiful car and had it for 6 years. She is on 135,000 Miles now and i carry out maintenance on it on regular intervals. i change the oil religiously every 8.000 miles, yes i know that Mercs recommend 12-15000 miles but as soon as you hit 100000 i would recommend doing it earlier. Ive had no turbo issues probably because of the early oil changes.
Another common fault with these are the Oil Cooler seals are prone to leaking. This fills up the V with oil and over time this flood of oil will make its way down from the back of the engine onto the DPF which will cause smoke to eminate from underneath the car. The new revised purple colour seals need to be fitted at bottom of Oil Cooler which is at the bottom of V (Big Job).
The EGR valve has also been replaced due to leaking coolant from the EGR cooler.
Inlet Manifold has been replaced due to warped inner flaps at the same time as Oil Cooler Seals.
The Swirl flap motor also has been replaced as the air intake pipe to Turbo red seal was dripping oil onto the the motor which is situated directly under Turbo inlet. This is also a common problem on these. If you want a bit more grunt from this lovely powerplant, get a Stage 1 remap from a proper company, I had it done last month and for a relatively small cost ive now got 275BHP instead of the already impressive 231BHP.
All in all what a lovely car to own, i love it!
Last bit of advice for you all is to add a good additive to your fuel tank every 6-8000 miles for the DPF. I use Liqui Moly. This will avoid expensive DPF replacements, especially if you are doing regular short mileage trips. My DPF Soot and Ash volume is always very low and this helps keep the DPF in good shape. Good Vid by the way!

I think Mercedes Benz gets a bad rap. I don't think it's that people don't take care of their cars. I think it's just that each part has sort of an expiration date where they'll go bad individually in their own individual time. We all know that manufacturers obtain parts from different suppliers and these parts consist of varying degrees of quality. And some brand and model cars have a more or less vicious cycle that you have to put up with. Some of which once the suspect part is replaced, the car will then run as intended. That is until that cycle comes around for the next part to go. Otherwise some will leave you stranded more often than others.
I personally received an education in Mercedes Benz and breaking parts. I had a w203 2001 C320. Bought used in 2008. After i purchased it i found out it was an accident car. (Proper homework was not done on my part prior to purchase). I've taken it out of frustration to at least four mechanics for various issues. They can be a strange cars but once you figure your car out, they're no more problematic than a Toyota.

I’d suggest doing some research on costs before buying one 🤔 Mines a 2012 E350 with only 36k miles and is solid as a rock but still has had issues. Rusty brake line. Mercedes UK wanted over £1,200.00 to remove the back axel to fix it, a local MB specialists fixed and repaired it for £240.00. Like for like replacement battery £240.00. SAM engine chip £1,200.00 at a MB specialists, MB UK wanted £2,000.00!!!!! So it’s not cheap to fix on any level 🤔

Been driving it three years with almost no issue. Had to replace the ignition coil on cylinder number two last week. Total cost was $200, including the scan tool used to diagnose the vehicle. Other than that, maintenance has consisted of changing the oil every six months. Brakes are due for replacement, but there is still plenty of pad left for another five thousand miles or so. The odometer says 112K today. We'll see how it goes. Paid $19,200 for the car and it seems like a good deal.

Torque converter issues, seems to be a common failure on e350s with 4matic. Mines a 2011 with 4matic and the torque converter is failing. You can feel a shudder at around 1200-2200 rpm under slight load and uphill acceleration. You would also notice the rpm needle oscillating.

    • @commodoreras
      @commodoreras 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@Krish Vasnani I also have a 2011 4Matic and lately noticing the same symptoms you are describing, except the rpm oscillating.
It’s alway the same place for sure when I pick my son up from the school and the road has a slight slope as soon as you leave the school parking lot, still accelerating gently because it’s in the neighborhood. Never fails it’s almost to the exact spot on that road.
What makes you think that it’s the TC?
I was thinking it might be related to that turbine speed sensor and just changed the atf and filter at early July this year but honestly it made no difference. Car has 116K now and I’ve been noticing this since maybe around 108-109K.
      Other than that no complaints.
