Great video - I think the vfx made the comparisons much easier to visualize! I'll be getting my C43 within the next two weeks and was super glad to hear this one being more comfortable as that was my main concern when speccing the 19" rims. Do you know if the tires you had previously were Continentals? Those are standard in the U.S. I believe and I've always heard switching to another made a big difference. I'm not a fan of them using the amg style front grille on this car. it's almost like they're trying to demote the pre facelift 63s as being the same as this 43. it isn't. not even close. I'm not a fan of how they can't update their infotainment system software once you buy the car and how it can't be replaced easily for a cost. back to that front grille , I think it's a bit cheeky personally and generally dilutive of the amg brand . if they really wanted to call this pile of mediocre sports car junk an amg they should have put AWD and a v8 in it and run it at 470 or 510 hp. fact is , it's not a true AMG, it is just tuned by AMG. why pretend it is anything different. Why take something magical , like the AMG brand and milk it like it's a cow. almost as bad is the body kits on regular cars that are “AMG line“. charge a big massive premium and rip off your customers. I see loads of uber drivers sticking an amg badge on the trunk of their E220Ds and in my mind , that's just as valid an AMG as the 43 in its current guise is. why buy the real thing when you can buy something inferior at a big discount and still wear the badge
Raz would you go with an upgraded 2019 c43 or a 2017 C63s? I'm in 2 minds. I'm a Brit living in Vancouver, its wet and the roads are average. I want to have one more combustion engine car, before going electric in 3-4 years time. I had the W204 63 wagon and loved it. I'm looking at either the C43 Wagon or a 18 month old C63s. As always I appreciate you input.

If you want a complete handing car, the C43 is superior to the C63. Now that I've driven both (and chose the C43 Cabriolet), there's no way I'd want another AMG without 4matic. It's too much capability compared to the C63. There is no substitute for 4matic.
i agree, I had the last gen c63 and recently picked up a 2018 c43 amg 4matics for a bargain as my daily. i previously owned a c63 amg 2016 and it’s too easy to get it to fish tail. Then I traded in for a 2018 F82 M4 and the same applies. high power cars with RWD is not for the faint hearted that’s for sure. Now the c63 amg has 4matics, i am keen to pick up once they are on the used market.

This is the best page I have ever been on. So professional, so detailed, and beyond informative.All that C43 needs is the wide body kit that the C63 had and I would purchase that.
Driving on Angeles Crest, which has tighter turns, I found the C63 the less agile car. The C43 felt more balanced...and the 4matic is a win coming out of corners. It might take a better driver to really get the C63 to perform, but I can stay with virtually any car short of a supercar at the Crest. I ended up with the 2019 C43 cabriolet and it's quite a lot of fun.
Great review as always my friend. Finally a proper rear diffuser/quad tip setup on this car (my main complaint with my current C43) - 18 months in and still not tired of the Performance Exhaust. No car should be built without it. Love the VFX by the way!

As owner of previous gen C43 Coupe for a year, I still like the sleeper look especially with the Night Package. I agree that the upgrade is excellent but still love the way the car transforms at flick of a switch and the exhaust pops and bangs always put a smile on your face. Interesting that the performance is the same, more weight?
Thank the new EPF for that. Affecting all new performance cars. Still this is loud with the AMG PE, & remember its more powerful. It does sound a bit nicer as well.
This vid has made my mind up getting a c43 face lift was going to get a 2017 before the EU ruined the fun of a good exhaust but it still sounded great to me would love to see a face lift vs a old 43 just to see the sound difference all the best mate

that car is garbage. it's only slightly faster than a BMW 540 while being like $15,000 more expensive. i test drove the E43 for about 50 miles before buying a 2018 540ix and it's not even a comparison, the BMW pulls way better especially out of corners. and the craziest part is that the E43 starts at the same price as a BMW M550i, which is stupid because the M550 is almost on par with the E*63*. Benz needs to fix their pricing otherwise i'm never going back to them.

With any newer AMG, you gotta’ have the Sound Package included. Audi, BMW, Lexus...are not F’n with MB (not to mention a lot of other features). And if you cannot afford a full on BRABUS Benz like myself, then the BRABUS Power Boost tuning kits adds 40 additional HP in increments at around $6,000 a pop (385hp - 425hp...) + additional exhaust music! But, make sure it is a CERTIFIED BRABUS tuner!
This is probably the coolest review video with the VFX I've seen. Only thing I would recommend is having the name and model year of the cars when you show them on the screen. I know you say them, but it is easy to get confused with all the different comparisons.
The car drives a lot different in individual. Compared to sport plus. You you take traction control off and make everything on sport +. It’s a lot quicker
First one of your reviews that I have watched. I really enjoyed the clever editing, switching between different models. But I especially like the more measured delivery, as opposed to the over-exuberant shouting most others seem to favour.
Perfect review for me as I'm getting my 2019 AMG C43 in December :) Not many good reviews on this, and you did (as always) a very nice job again getting in to cool details that I didn't know! Not only will my new car be my first AMG, but it will also be my first ever Mercedes! Have not test driven it and haven't even seen it live, so I can't wait getting it few days before Christmas :)
You're right it is a much better experience leaving it in automatic, but shifting the car manually. It's a much smoother than throwing it in manual. I love this car.
The new CLA 45s is mad. It’s a lot more faster and has an improved interior (better than the C43). It all depends if you value the C43 exterior over the new CLA45s exterior

Just noticed a technical error you made re the 4matic system on this car,( As I watch the video for the 10th time) ! The 43 series has 4 Matic not 4 Matic +, the torque split is fixed 31:69 , it doesn't shift fore & aft, that's only with 4 matic +.
Brilliant review - despite the steering wheel is on the wrong side! "Duality", spot on term and what I'm looking for in my next car and consider the C43.
Great review and a great car! Frankly I think people that write snarky comments about c43 are just being facetious. C63 is so ridiculously overpowered that the only place it should be driven is the track really.

Really like this car and actually had one on order but ended up switching to M4! The C43 is a beautiful car though and after my M car maybe I’ll try a c63 of some sort. Really like the interior of the AMG. Rick
What attracted you to BMW? I’ve tried, but I can’t see the appeal 😐 M8 and the SUVs are probably the only BMWs I think look good (exterior), but the interior is still quite boring and outdated IMO. I’ve also driven a few BMWs and I can’t see what’s so special there either, maybe it’s more of a difference in older models between the brands.
Jakrabat the M cars are far superior on the track. It is just lighter and corners better but having said that AMG has truly stepped up there game in that department. The older AMG cars were more straight line power cars but these new ones are getting really good at almost everything. I purchased an M4 with comp pkg and on the track will beat even the C63s for less money. As far as interiors go I feel like BMW has copied Porsche just keeping it simple and to me that’s where the AMG shines is in the interior. People say the Audi has the best interior and I suppose that’s personal to everyone’s taste I guess because I think the AMG is the best. Cheers, Rick

In 2021 I see the steering wheel has 2 circle selectors on the steering wheel, for sport.. Sport + etc.. was there any other changes they made in 2021 models? I can't seem to find any info.
Jon Doe so reliable man, id recommend you pay attention to motor mounts, spark plugs & the sway bar links. Also keep up with your brakes/fluids ( transmission ) ( oil changes with Mobil 1 ) every 8-10k is fair depending on your driving conditions.

Agree, facelift c43 takes all the fun out. There’s no reason to mod facelift but with sleeper look you can change the parts you don’t like

Those 53amgs are crap. On an autobahn trip we had to stop 3 times because it overheated... (was a cls 53 but should be the same in the e53)

No, the performance exhaust is not standard on the Coupé. You have to order it and I‘m so glad I did.
In 20192020 they’re stock for Coupé. But still shows under added Features on printout. Basically can’t get one without

Really like this car and actually had one on order but ended up switching to M4! The C43 is a beautiful car though and after my M car maybe I’ll try a c63 of some sort. Really like the interior of the AMG.

What attracted you to BMW? I’ve tried, but I can’t see the appeal 😐
M8 and the SUVs are probably the only BMWs I think look good (exterior), but the interior is still quite boring and outdated IMO. I’ve also driven a few BMWs and I can’t see what’s so special there either, maybe it’s more of a difference in older models between the brands.
Jakrabat the M cars are far superior on the track. It is just lighter and corners better but having said that AMG has truly stepped up there game in that department. The older AMG cars were more straight line power cars but these new ones are getting really good at almost everything. I purchased an M4 with comp pkg and on the track will beat even the C63s for less money. As far as interiors go I feel like BMW has copied Porsche just keeping it simple and to me that’s where the AMG shines is in the interior. People say the Audi has the best interior and I suppose that’s personal to everyone’s taste I guess because I think the AMG is the best.

The pre Facelift was very C180 like looking. Especially the rear end. This one is how the c43 should look since the very first beginning

The US really needs the C class (namely the C43) wagon. Sure, the E wagon(s) we get are nice, but most don't need an E and a C wagon is perfect.
In 2021 I see the steering wheel has 2 circle selectors on the steering wheel, for sport.. Sport + etc.. was there any other changes they made in 2021 models? I can't seem to find any info.
I hate tire spin, this is what I would go with. No point in having all that power of the c63 if you just spinning for 2 seconds lol

I’ve said this years ago this engine essentially is a c300 3.0 V6 with two turbos a lovely engine for this application

Jon Doe so reliable man, id recommend you pay attention to motor mounts, spark plugs & the sway bar links. Also keep up with your brakes/fluids ( transmission ) ( oil changes with Mobil 1 ) every 8-10k is fair depending on your driving conditions.
Jonah Hitchcock thanks for the tips. I used to drive Japanese and this is my first time owning a Mercedes hoping it will last for years. I hate changing cars and love the 43 motor. I will keep up with the maintenance like you said.
