Yeah I actually test drove the c63 and the c43 back to back several times before deciding to buy the c43 last year. It's not as much about the money but more about the awd system. Off the line to 60mph, the c43 can sometimes beat the c63 due to more traction. I got a eurocharged tune and it's now making about 80hp more than stock and is lighter than the c63. It feels much faster from a launch than a c63 now. I find this a better option since you can always make a car faster but you can't really make a RWD car into an AWD car.
Same here, I had a choice between the two and you just can't beat the AWD system. It's a shame as I love the V8 for the C43 is so nice to drive with all the grip and traction all year round :)
So how's the maintenance been since jts been about a year now? I'm looking at one , 2017, and its at about 80k miles and have never owned an AMG ive pretty much been an Audi guy leaving an S5 for this.
Another great video - thanks again! For me, I purchased my new C43 sedan with switchable exhaust just 2 weeks ago and I haven’t looked back. Agree entirely with your summary and to reinforce: My main reasons / factors were: price (have to draw a line somewhere), power to weight, safety features, quality, style, daily drive and some excitement. For me the C43 won out as it was the ideal ‘goldilocks’ car - it was just right. Ruled many cars out through simple internet searches and then..... Ruled out the Audi S5 quickly: nice car, great performance but too bland. Test drive the BMW 340i and C43 several times and found it hard to decide. BMW with a better drivetrain and better tech (my opinion) but C43 with more prestigious styling inside and out and wow, just a better sound! For me, it was head (BMW) vs hear (C43) and a tough call. Figuring, I couldn’t make a wrong decision, I went with my heart and haven’t looked back. Love the Mercedes and love the way it makes me feel when I drive it. The way I figure it, both are great choices, so you can’t go wrong. I’ve now got about 1000km up with mine and no regrets. Good luck with whatever you finally decide
Hi who’s that, I’ve had my c43 for 5 months now and still no regrets. Personally, I’d love a RS5 but I had to draw a line financially and the rs5 was in another price bracket (or 2!) above the C43. If you are looking at the higher prices, many other options too such as the V8 5 series BMW. Not a bad a problem to have in choosing! GOOD LUCK!!
This car is exciting. When i take off at the red light, those pops and bangs drive other drivers wild. They love it. 90% of my driving has been in sport+ mode. Does anyone ever drive in comfort mode in this car?
I predominantly drive in comfort with my E43 AMG. Driving in Sport Plus around town is great for short bursts when you want that rumble but the experience is far too jerky for me. It's always downshifting when I come up to a stop sign, which is great for the sound, but it makes for a rough ride. I really only do it when I'm wanting to show off lol. If I'm just doing normal driving, comfort seems to make the most sense. But of course, whenever I want to have some fun around the corners I'll throw it into Sport Plus... Or if I'm going to pass somebody. 😅
@@PeugeotRocket I keep it permanently in sport or in sports + mode. The car seems to prefer it. I once used to ride in comfort mode but felt the car did not like it for extended periods.
It's my first AMG & I couldn't agree more! I went from C219 to C117 to this, and it was the best car-related decision I've ever made. It has everything I loved about the CLS (and nothing I disliked about the CLA) distilled into a much sportier package. It was love at first test drive. Bought mine new in 2020, so just in the nick of time. I'm still very much in love. Zero notable issues, only routine maintenance thus far.
Not gonna lie. This channel helped me with my purchase. I'm now the proud owner of an Audi.... Just kidding! Black with night package estate/wagon. It's great. Keep showing me tips!

Thanks for the video. I bought a 2016 C450 with 51,000 miles about 1.5 yrs ago. It has about 72,000 miles now. I've enjoyed the car alot, and it has been mostly reliable so far. But maintenance is quite expensive. The only repair needed so far has been the coolant thermostat stuck open, which cost about $800USD parts and labor. Maintenance has been pads and rotors ($1200US), transmission fluid/filter change ($800US), oil changes of course, and straightening 3 of the rims. It uses about 0.5 quarts of oil every 5000 miles. It costs about $170US per oil change because I buy the LiquiMoly oil and OEM filter, and pay an oil change shop to do the work. I change the oil every 5-6k miles, rather than the 10k mfg suggested interval, but I dont know if thats necessary. The big rims look sweet, but the low profile tires dont protect from pot holes very well. I hate not having a spare, but you would need to have 2 spares and not enough room for that, so I roll the dice.
I don't think it will go down by much. I'm hoping to get one this year too. As beautiful and beastly the C63 is, the C43 just makes much more sense for me. I can't wait lol

Weirdly enough my first AMG was a W212 E63 that unfortunately became prohibitively expensive tax-wise here in Belgium, so I had to let it go. :-/ After a few years of other Mercedes, I'm now back with AMG with the C43 and I must say I really love it! After haven driven both, I couldn't really see the C63 warranted its price premium over the C43. With the difference I can buy a W204 C63 for the weekends and have the daily drive C43! :-)
Hey Erwin, Thanks for sharing. Nice to hear how you got into your C43. Love the idea of a W204 C63 for the weekends! I'm hoping il be in a position to have some additional AMGs, maybe a project car to join the channel in the near future:)
do you consider it’s going to be a good second amg? right now im 18 year old and i own a w176 (a45) and im looking to change the car. My option are the c43 2019 mainly because looks like a 2022 car or the bmw m4 2018 just because it’s faster, but i really don’t know what to get.
Been looking at low mileage (20-30kmi) '19 or '20 CLA45 or a C43...some days I go back and forth between them. I do believe I have researched them enough to decide on a C43 (2020) Originally just wanted a 2019 with the optional digital dash but 2020 refreshes even more so I'm probably going to settle on that. Next step is a test drive of both CLA and C models then a decision within the next month or two. Can't wait.
I think the w 205 is such a great looking car probably better looking than the 206, I have 2020 C300 but hoping to move on to a C43 or C63, this review and comments have been so helpful, thanks everyone!
Great video, contemplating one as the family car, currently daily a 981 Cayman S and that’s fantastic but with 2 seats I need another car and this in estate body may be the ideal one
@@max99x Thanks Max. It’s a great family car. I swapped my C300 coupe for this C43 saloon when my wife was pregnant. Amelia (who is now 5) had her first ever ride home in the C43 from the hospital after she was born. We had no problem with space, car seats etc. The estate has even more room too. Can’t go wrong!
@@ABAUTOAMG thanks! My daughter (nearly 4) loves going out the Cayman, I added Isofix which cost lot but well worth it. Just want something fun for family trips too! This or a Macan is what I’m thinking 🙌🏻
Also, this channel should be your first go to place when you get your first c43. I watched AB auto few days before I picked up mine and found the info valuable. It’s the best all rounder car. I live in Canada and it does superb with winter tires. I’m coming from a wrx and the c43 is the best car I owned so far.
Thank you Anoop, I'm so pleased to hear the channel has been helpful. Agreed! Best all around car and the best I've owned so far too. Glad you are enjoying yours! :)
Agree with all your comments, it's an accurate portrait of the car. However, also worthy of inclusion could be; 9) available as a coupe or saloon - the best of both worlds and 10) very much an ' under the radar' car. Not too shouty and in your face........but still an absolute weapon!
Just curious what you think, I'm looking at buying this 2017 c43 listed for $25600 my research for the past 6 months since I'm coming from an audi s5 v8 I wasn't to sure about something smaller motor wise and the sound from the audi was too shelf untouchable. I'm only selling it because of the insane cost of maintenance all of a sudden. I'm all over my preventative maintenance and meticulous about regular upkeep but literally at the 99,999 mile marker the car just fell apart i don't understand. It was in a shop for 6 months out of its last year no exaggeration. So my question is am I looking at those same issues buying a 2017 with 80k miles? Mechanic looked at it said it looked mechanically sound but so was my audi. Or any quirks about that model that year I should look for? Any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated.
I'd have one of these to replace my old passat r36 if I could afford it. But I'm retired now and I can't. I'm going to try and keep my 08 passat going as long as possible . It's not as quick as merc and doesn't sound quite as good but it'll do.
I thinking of buying a mercedes c43 and and i never drove a german car ( i own a toyota corolla 2014 ) so if you exclude the performance in c43 how different is it in driving wise coming from a toyota . I heard these car are comfortable and fun to drive and handle .
Averaging 28mpg , Eco Mode and Glide Mode to and from work taking note of optimal downhill glides 👌Sport mode at weekends with the lads on country roads 😏
@@onwell over 3k miles done now at the clock had not budged from 30.0k. whenever on straight.open roads i use cruise control where the car itself can get up to 40mpg on immediate mpg return 👌
Congrats! If you take care of it you should have no problems. Mine was a dream and never had any issues. The sound system is pretty good but you can upgrade it if you really enjoy your music. I personally love to listen to the v6 rumble from the exhaust :)
Hello mate, I have a c43 coupe which I got brand new just under 2 weeks ago, I want to fit the ASR exhaust module, I have seen your video on how to install it and it looks really easy, I'm not mechanically minded but I can do simple things so would you mind sending me a link/contact details of the/a company that stock the the module I'll be really grateful so thanks in advance

hi, thanks for this informative video, I have a japan imported c43 with all the extras but unfortunately I have not got the Performance exhaust, is there any way I can get this installed in the car?
Been looking at changing up from my C350 for ages. Want to stsy with Mercedes as I have a wicked specialist garage but couldnt see any mercs to go for, so been looking at BMW 340's. This vid may have just changed that. Think ill keep saving and hold on for a c43...!
im torn between a second hand Audi s5 and a amg43, but im staring to come round to the Mercedes, but ill miss the virtual dash of my TT, family has come along and the rear seats no longer do the job
Hey Paul, I went from a 2016 Audi TTS with the virtual dash to my C43 and loved the C43. If you get a 2019 onwards model C43 you can get It with a full digital dash like the virtual cockpit. It is an option though so make sure the car has it although most should.
Hi Harry, Congrats on your new car! You can find the bonnet release to the right under the steering wheel. Pull that then you just need to find the latch under the bonnet and it will raise and hold up by itself.
I’m still hesitating between the CLA45 of 2018 and the C43 of 2019 which is more expensive today :) Im not interested by the new models that don't make a good sound. Best engine is the old C63, CLA45 and C43 before 2020....
Hey INTENSAv, All great cars! The previous generation of the CLA45 is a fun motor but it does lack that high quality luxury interior feel. Certainly has it's flaws but really fun to drive. The C43 is brilliant though! Your winning either one you pick to be honest!
I heard that CLA45 is more front wheel drive biased while C43 is more rear wheel drive biased. Given that both are all 4wd. For interior, you have to check the legroom of CLA45 as it's not as spacious comparing to a C43.
I'm really struggling between this and the 2016 CLA45 AMG What are your thoughts? For reference I'm biased towards performance and I'm happy to have either tuned.
Hey Alex, Mine is coming up to 3 years and I've had no issues so far everything seems pretty solid. The W205 has been around for a while now and I see lots of 2016/17s on the road. There's some great facebook groups for the C43/C-class which would be a great place to check how people are getting on too with there 2017's etc. Good luck in your search.
To be honest it’s no different to a c220d or c300 in terms of maintenance costs. As long as it’s been taken car of and has a full service record is should still be solid at 50k miles.
Hey it's really easy to check. If it has the AMG performance exhaust it will have an exhaust button in the center console below the volume dial. If there’s no button your 100% certain that the car does not have the optional exhaust.
Hi Josip, I'm planning on getting my hands on the new C-class to test and review. I might even buy the new C63s when it arrives as I'm really interested in how AMG are going to make it exciting without the amazing V8. + I love technology so I'm all over the new tech inside!
Great video. This IS my first AMG, and I"m getting ready to move onto something new. I don't know what to do, Do I trade up for aother C43, or do I make a Move to an S4? Help! LOL
Hey! Sorry I missed your comment. I moved from the C43 to the CLA45s (the new model not the older one, very different car) and love it! I’ve got plenty of videos on it. You could also look into a used C63 w205 V8. That would be a great step up from the C43 if your confident with rear wheel drive.
Love the video. I have a question. Aside from the looks and the leg room, is the E43 similar in performance? And in comfort mode, does it absorb bumps and potholes as good as the C43? From the videos I've seen, the E43 doesnt do a good job - perhaps it has something to do with the wheels or suspension. Keen to hear your feedback. Thanks man
Hey, thank you :) I havent driven a E43 but I've driven lots of E classes and I'd be really surpised if the C43 is more comfortable. The E43 should be a much more comfortable car than the C43, at least on paper!
Doesn’t look like you’ve got yours ceramic coated yet (we spoke about it about a month ago)... just got mine back yesterday and it’s stunning. You should get it done but as ever, do your research on the company that will do it for you as it’s not cheap. Went for Xpel ultimate plus ppf on the front end, mirrors, skirts plus a few other small areas. Gtechniq crystal serum ultra plus 2 x gtechniq exo v4. Not cheap but 9 year warranty. Great videos as ever... keep it up 👍
Hey John! Not yet. I'm actually partnering up with a really good detailer and we're going to film the whole process and make a series of videos on how best to maintain it etc. We've just been a bit delayed over the holidays + the pandemic but it's likely we will be doing this very soon so I'm hoping to have some really high quality videos on this along with lots of other detailing bits! Watch this space! :)
Hi Jimmy. They are both great cars but are different drives. The E53 will have a much nicer interior and be more comfortable. It will be less sporty than the C43 and will feel much bigger on the road. The C43 will be less comfortable but more sporty and nimble round the corners. Both should feel quick but the C43 will be a bit faster due to less weight. C43 exhaust will sound a bit better too. So E53 more has the edge on comfort and C43 on sportiness. Both great cars though! :)
@@ABAUTOAMG Actually the E53 is a little faster than the C43. E53 is 4.4 and C43 is 4.5. Also E53 is a midsize car and C43 is compact. Lot better interior in the E53. Also the E53 gets better gas mileage than the C43. So the E53 is the better car. E53 is comfort and sportiness not just comfort. So I would recommend the E53 for your first AMG if you can afford it for it is more expensive than the C43.
Excellent review as always. My E Class AMG Sport steering wheel is slightly off set to the left, is this normall for Mercedes ? Even after wheel alignment and tracking its still the same.

Thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful. Just post a comment here if you have any questions. Have a good day :)
@@ABAUTOAMG cant decide between this or the CLA45 :/
Just upgraded from my eco boost mustang and WOW it is so amazing
*2017 stage 2 upgrades
Such a great overall and capable car!
Weirdly enough my first AMG was a W212 E63 that unfortunately became prohibitively expensive tax-wise here in Belgium, so I had to let it go. :-/
After a few years of other Mercedes, I'm now back with AMG with the C43 and I must say I really love it!
Can't wait.
What else changed from 19-20 ??
Really enjoying the increased production of your videos 🔥
Thanks! It's been fun working on these :)
I could not agree more. My first AMG was a 2017 C43 and I haven't looked back, upgrading to a C63S and finally a GT63.

Excellent review ! Well done !
Thank you Jeremy! :)

I bought the 2020 cabriolet…nuff said !
Great vid bro!!
Thanks Manny!
The wife has a 2020 cabriolet with every upgrade. Has to be a 2 door to be a consideration. Need the upgraded radio too.
The C43 was my first AMG. Great first car for high performance but I quickly upgraded to a C63 soon after.
It's a great stepping stone for those that want that lovely V8 :)
Bad idea
Great video, very informative albeit a little bias 😉! Considering lots of different cars for my next car and a C43 is definitely a contender.
Thanks Greg, Glad you enjoyed it. I will admit I am a bit bias but that's from my own pure enjoyment with the car these past 2 years :)
Great Review
Also, this channel should be your first go to place when you get your first c43. I watched AB auto few days before I picked up mine and found the info valuable.
It’s the best all rounder car. I live in Canada and it does superb with winter tires. I’m coming from a wrx and the c43 is the best car I owned so far.
Thank you Anoop, I'm so pleased to hear the channel has been helpful. Agreed! Best all around car and the best I've owned so far too. Glad you are enjoying yours! :)

Great Review 🤞
Agree with all your comments, it's an accurate portrait of the car. However, also worthy of inclusion could be; 9) available as a coupe or saloon - the best of both worlds and 10) very much an ' under the radar' car. Not too shouty and in your face........but still an absolute weapon!
Thanks David, I like your 9 and 10! Both great points. The coupe is gorgeous!
C43 vs 340i
Which one is better
Will have mine 2023....
Great video💖
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed :)
I thinking of buying a mercedes c43 and and i never drove a german car ( i own a toyota corolla 2014 ) so if you exclude the performance in c43 how different is it in driving wise coming from a toyota . I heard these car are comfortable and fun to drive and handle .
I currently have an E Class and it has plenty of space for the driver. Would I have any issues in the C43? I’m 6’2 -6’3 for reference.

Car is averaging 30mpg now. I switch betwen eco and sport+. Have to say im impressed with the MPG. So happy i chose the C43 over an Evo X
Thanks for that - looking to get one and i’d be happy with 28 - 30 mpg

Congrats! If you take care of it you should have no problems. Mine was a dream and never had any issues. The sound system is pretty good but you can upgrade it if you really enjoy your music. I personally love to listen to the v6 rumble from the exhaust :)
Hi! The glc43 amg 2020 with performance exhaust sounds the same as this c43 equipped with the performance exhaust?

hi, thanks for this informative video, I have a japan imported c43 with all the extras but unfortunately I have not got the Performance exhaust, is there any way I can get this installed in the car?
Been looking at changing up from my C350 for ages. Want to stsy with Mercedes as I have a wicked specialist garage but couldnt see any mercs to go for, so been looking at BMW 340's. This vid may have just changed that. Think ill keep saving and hold on for a c43...!
Sounds good Dan, I'd def consider the C43! See if you can have a test drive in one and you might just fall in love :)
im torn between a second hand Audi s5 and a amg43, but im staring to come round to the Mercedes, but ill miss the virtual dash of my TT, family has come along and the rear seats no longer do the job
Hey Paul, I went from a 2016 Audi TTS with the virtual dash to my C43 and loved the C43. If you get a 2019 onwards model C43 you can get It with a full digital dash like the virtual cockpit. It is an option though so make sure the car has it although most should.
Hiya mate, picked up my brand spanking new c43 coupe today, can you tell me how to open the bonnet please
Hi Harry, Congrats on your new car! You can find the bonnet release to the right under the steering wheel. Pull that then you just need to find the latch under the bonnet and it will raise and hold up by itself.
Ok thanks mate will do in the morning
I kind of want an a35 though because of the dash
The dash is lovely. I'm filming a full walkthrough of the digital dash in my cla45s soon 👍
Nice video ! I love my C43 wagon 2019 it's 😍
Thanks! Great mixture of practically and fun I bet! 🥰
I’m still hesitating between the CLA45 of 2018 and the C43 of 2019 which is more expensive today :) Im not interested by the new models that don't make a good sound. Best engine is the old C63, CLA45 and C43 before 2020....
Buy a gla 45 4 matic premium plus
Hey, both are great cars but I prefer the C43 myself. The interior is much nicer and it’s a stronger overall package.
4:37 I JUST LOVE IT!!! LOL
🤣
Does this one have an OPF?
Does the car in the video have the stock exhaust or the optional performance exhaust?
Mine has the optional performance exhaust. A must have option in my opinion :)
Nice video but I have one question.have you ever considered to remap it?thank you in advance for your answer
Thanks! I have thought about it but the main thing holding me back is the possible voiding of warranty.
Ok, but what should you look for when buying used?
Hi there, Sorry I don't have this yet but I have planned to make a used buyers guide for the C43 and other Mercedes models in the near future.
How did you paint your calipers? what was the method used?
Hi Faruk, I paid to have these done professionally.
Stock have bang and pop?
Yep mine is 100% stock, you need to make sure it has the factory optional extra exhaust though to get the bangs. I have this here in mine 👍
I have a 2020. Great video. Thanks.
How are these out of warranty? Any known issues? I'm looking to buy a 2017 model, so it will be out of warranty next year.
0:17 what's that thing on the digital dash? The one where it shows thes the barrier and wheels
That's a g-meter. It shows you the center of gravity in the car as you accelerate, go round bends etc.
I bought one last week
Congrats Gutz! I hope you are enjoying it :)
What's maintenance like? If I purchase a used C43 with 40 or 50k miles on it
To be honest it’s no different to a c220d or c300 in terms of maintenance costs. As long as it’s been taken car of and has a full service record is should still be solid at 50k miles.
How we know if the car got the AMG performance exhaust pls ?
Hey it's really easy to check. If it has the AMG performance exhaust it will have an exhaust button in the center console below the volume dial. If there’s no button your 100% certain that the car does not have the optional exhaust.
Make a video about new c class
The E43 should be a much more comfortable car than the C43, at least on paper!
is there any way to make one sound like the performance exhaust with valves open if you don't have the system? don't need it to be quiet
Hey, you could look at an aftermarket exhaust system. If it’s the pops and crackles you are missing you could look into a burble tune too.
Just put it to S+ and it will sound exactly the same.
@@ABAUTOAMG you won’t regret it when you get it as I know you love yours as much as I do mine.

Would you recommend E53 over C43 as my first AMG?
E53 will be
dearer too for same year, mileage, etc
Thanks Haval! I take it this is a right hand drive car? I've heard they are slightly off centre on the right hand models. Not sure about the left ones though!
@@ABAUTOAMG Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes it's a right hand drive UK. And it's slightly off centre to the left! I hate that🤔😉 is your C43 off centre to the left as well?
@@HavalKurdistanPeace Ah Yes! I think mine is too. It's not too bad though I've found it easy to ignore and forget :)
