Disappointed that the almighty Floating Time Tissue didn't return for the 50th Anniversary.
It did.
Obscure Entertainment When?
PompeiiProductions it just looked more like lightning in The Name of The Doctor episode.
The almighty floating time tissue XD Made my night
Terrance Dicks likened it to Casper the Ghost in commentary for the 2001 DVD - iirc he said he preferred the original, obelisk effect.
Patrick troughton and Jon Pertwee never seemed to age.
Patrick Troughton definitely aged... have you seen The Two Doctors, by any chance?
Oops, I goofed and you're right. I should have stated he looked the same as always in "The Five Doctors".
Even though I've only seen him in "The Tomb of the Cybermen", "The Three Doctors", and "The Five Doctors", I must say Patrick Troughton is my favorite Doctor.
+Dutch_Atlantic_13 You should definitelly see his other stories even if there are a lot of lost episodes from his era the ones that survived are really good, specially War Games.
Stefano Pavone I know, I've already saw all the recon of lost episodes, he has lots of great stories so I don't even care if it is just pictures or a cartoon made in flash.
Check out the Colin Baker story, the Two Doctors. Pat and Colin together and I personally find it a great story.
Stefano Pavone the BBC has confirmed they have these episodes. They were taken down for multiple reasons. Such as copyright or controversial topics
+TheBetterPixel I find that impossible to believe.
Im glad patrick troughton came back 3 times after he left he must of loved doctor who that much
Must have, yes. Indeed, he did, and once said he'd have liked to play a monster in the show, and uncredited. :-)

@@MaskedMan66 Yes, but to refer to the doctor as doctor when there are multiple doctors, or by which one they are (third doctor) gets a bit repetitive, and time consuming.

If Borusa wanted to license his own Doctor and companion figurines, he didn't have to to such lengths.
Maybe he was short on cash.
Or he was just a toy collector...
Funny little side note: my Aunt made a joke about Borusa wanting to be a Doctor Who toy collector it was almost the exact same joke I made just now.
If someone clutches their heart and screams in pain dont always assume it's a psychic attack.very rarely it could be a heart attack.
In general, I agree with your comment, however, I have two addendums:
1) Heart attacks (in humans) don't always present with a pain in the chest. Increasingly, research is showing that pain can emanate from a different part of the body (for example: the back or jaw),
2) Gallifreians (at least after the first regeneration (depending on your source)) have two hearts, so, what are they clutching?
I grew up on the original series, and if it taught me anything useful it's this- if something, especially a silver hand, grabs your friend and pulls them in an unwanted direction, it's better to grab the nearest hardest thing you can find and beat the crap out of said hand until it lets go.
When someone clutches their heart I usually assume they've got a big hole in their chest.
@@aaronjones6892Surely two hearts would mean they have twice the hearts to attack?
It's just that it won't instantly kill them dead like it does a human.
@@techno1561 good point; it makes you wonder what health advice Galifreians receive; do they have to exercise twice as much? Do they need a super high-fibre diet? And, are fry-ups a no-no? Makes you wonder if a longer life is worth the hassle?

Great balls of fire
One was just walking around a garden, Two was catching up with the Brigadier, Three was out for a drive and Four was busy punting down the river. Interesting times to catch them..
"...As if I could [forget Omega]", says the Brig, forgetting that he had in fact forgotten Omega and a whole lot more for several years....
The 2’nd Doctor shouldn’t remember either as when multiple Doctors meet only the latest incarnation remembers
@@TheDarkVampire666 maybe meeting one of the two[3] Godlike figures on Gallifrey stuck around
@@TheDarkVampire666 It could be explained that he remembers fighting Omega but not the details
Kinda like how 10 remembers marrying Queen Liz 1 (he mentions it in the End of Time) but not the details
@@TheDarkVampire666 I like to think that Two had a unique ability to remember things he shouldn't, and many of these 'forbidden memories' were taken away when he regenerated into Three. One example of this is that in 'The Five Doctors', all the other incarnations remember Rassilon as the benevolent founder of Time Lord society, but Two is the only one to question this, and suggest he was actually a tyrant. It seems that Two found some things that he shouldn't have done.
Who said he forgot Omega and the rest? Was he supposed to stand there and rattle off every enemy he's been involved with?
You can't see her but technically multiple Claras are present in this scene.
NO! Clara isn't here because they was erased from existence by Time of the Doctor.

The Doctor is a Jerry Lee Lewis fan.
+MrDalek2150 That's your problem.
+Rob Adams Fan nothing; he's a personal friend.
"The Five Doctors" featured four Doctors.
Actually, the 4th Doctor was seen in this story, though some clips of the 6-episode Doctor Who story Shada that was supposed to be shown in 1980 for the end of Tom Baker's 6th season in the role, didn't air because of a strike at the BBC then.
1st Doctor William Hartnell wasn't in it because he died (passed away) in 1975 age 67 it featured 3 (three) Doctors Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Peter Davison i believe Tom Baker 4th Doctor might've had some regrets not physically being in it because he felt it was a bit soon after he departed Dr Who in 1981 or 1982
Tom Baker didn't want to be in The Five Doctors because it was only 2 years in1983 after he left the role after playing the Doctor for nearly 7 years from 1974-1981
@@jasonlee7816 The first doctor was portrayed in this. Yes, the 4th doctor had a cameo, that's it.
No, it featured five. One just didn't have a lot of screen time, that's all. But his being stuck in time did present a complication for his other selves, so his presence was felt.
Rest in Peace Brigadier.
The second Doctor with the Beatles haircut.
This episode introduced me to the Doctor's pantheon . I immediately fell in love with them all .

"Brigadier i think our past i catching up on us... or mabe it's our future come on RUN!!!!" it makes me laugh when the doc runs in this classy doc :) RIP patrick troughton xxxx
Tom Baker had just left the show and wanted to move onto to other parts and so declined to appear in this 20th anniversary show. His scenes are taken from a show he did called Shada which was never completed due to an electricians strike. William Hartnell has passed away in 1975 and so the first Doctor was played by Richard Hurndall.
He said he regretted it later on. It makes me wonder why the most famous Doctor didn't want to come to the show just for one more episode, it's not as if he had to stay another 7 years in the TARDIS if he did...
John Park Because it's a bit different from today. Doctor Who was filmed across the year (Season 6, for instance, ran across from August '68 to June '69), rather than just a few weeks. That means you really get to know the production staff and the rest of the cast, and it becomes a part of your life.
Some people react ecstatically at the chance to experience it for just one more episode, others might not want it to be taken away so soon after.
Either that or he was obeying the mythical Troughton law and avoiding a typecast by reappearing.
ResidentEvilWiki Good point. Thanks for the explanation :)
New producer, new writers, new contracts, Shada was gone.
Rossm3838 William Hartnell also declined to participate because he wanted to move on from Doctor Who.
Tying a fur coat on with sting , wow what a guy...
I preferred the more solid looking time scoop, it matched the thing Hartnell was stuck in in the 3 Doctors. Sort of.
Wasn't the footage with the 3rd Doctor used in The Name Of The Doctor?
Clara!! How she saved him in this episode?

Even the footage of the second doctor running was from this episode.

It was meant to be Susan with the first
Jamie with the second
Jo Grant with the 3rd

@@surfdaymetalnight9182 oh ok
Frazier Hines was doing Emmeralde Farm at the time of filming so he couldn't commit to anything longer than a two-minute cameo.
Good ol Bessie......
Time can be re-written
Strange how Patrick Troughton's hair greyd so much between this episode and 1986's "The Two Doctors".
DellDuckfan313 the two doctors was done in 1986 it was done in 1985
The only problem with this story was that the Fourth Doctor was not in much of it, as Tom Baker was busy with other matters during the filming of this story. BBC tried to solve this problem by putting clips from the cancelled story "Shada".
Or Tom threw another of his prima Dona wobblys?
and they worked that into the plot as well
Where exactly in Two's timeline does this and The Three Doctors take place? Cause he never didn't have companions and he even knew about Jamie and Zoe? (don't remember if it was her or Victoria) losing their memories of him, and that was right before he regenerated.
Basicallly, it's "fa on" that the Second Doctor, instead of being immediately regenerated and exiled, was forced to work for the Time Lords a covert agent. 3 Docotrs, 5 Doctors AND 2 Doctors take place during this period. At some point he had been allowed to retrieve Jamie from his time and have his memory (partially) restored. Then, later, he manage to screw the pooch again so the Time Lords exiled him.
+captmurdock "Fanon"
Terrence Dicks, who wrote this and the war games wrote a novel that explained the second doctors missing years and when these events happened to him.

It would be THEIR past.
1:50 everything's quite alright **YEET**
this from the special edition version
I remember the first ever episode. It was repeated the following week, along with the second episode. And Susan thought that we were on the decimal system...
The very first episode was the pilot and the second one (as you rightly say first) is classed as thee first confusing for sure, both episodes are exactly the same not sure why they did that.
kevin edwards The pilot episode was never broadcast. They redid it, altering the script a little. I have both versions on DVD. Apparently, William Hartnell himself felt that the character he portrayed in the pilot was too abrasive, or words to that effect. Susan's (Carole Ann Ford) inkblot scene was also dropped, as was her claim to have been born in the 49th century, It was the remake that was shown twice
Yeah i have the boxed set, i never noticed it was different i will have to watch it again.
kevin edwards In the BBC docdrama, made for the 50th anniversary, they covered the William Hartnell years. The making of the first episode was one of the issues covered, as was potential loss of viewership due to the JFK assassination of November 22nd. After all, this was during the height of cold war tensions.
kevin edwards The pilot show that was not aired can be seen in its entirety on youtube. Sydney Newman wanted the Doctor to be the opposite of a conventional tv scifi hero but they made the doctor such a dick that peple complained, so they had to rewrite it and reshoot it with the Doctor as a slightly nicer person.
me too!
The Doctor(s) being chased by Hogwart's Sorting Hat!
I didn't realize Patrick Troughton was so short. The only thing I ever saw him in before was *_The Six Wives of Henry VIII,_* where he played Thomas Howard, Duke of Norfolk and he seemed rather tall in that. Almost as tall as Keith Michell (Henry VIII), who was 6'2" (188 cm). I suppose they might have had him standing on something or maybe filmed him from low angles.
And the Dr is usually played by a tall man
Hope those models are more sturdy then the eaglemoss ones?
The Five Doctors - Pure Gold!
Funny enough those are the new CGI effects for the special edition. The original was just a black triangle.
As the Doctor would say, "Oh I see you redecorated. I don't like it."
I preferred the original sfx. The new one looks out of place and reminds me of the hat from H.P.
@@shanewilliams1269 Yeah the old ones with stretched low-res images looked wonderful

It might be a tad off-topic, but I have often wondered if the person/people who came up with Dax (& other Trill) from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine...might have gotten the idea from Doctor Who.
After all... although Trill hosts don't regenerate... but the Trill symbiont does retain the previous hosts' memories, just like Time Lords.🤔🤔
I was thinking something similar but about how Ds9 and star Wars both have clone warrior races, I wonder if these all just happened to exist in their own little vacuums or if their was some inspiration from doctor who
