  • (Edit... I apologize for the large muted section... Turns out one of the blues songs I used had a copyright claim. It is one of those random pieces of 'dance music' I have heard for 20+ years and never even thought about it. If you want access to the official music which you hear later in the video, see below.) Hello Skaters! Welcome Back! I am very happy to be teaching another Ice Dancing Pattern dance today, the Rhythm Blues! It is the third one that a skater will ever test and is made up of Progressives, Swing Rolls, Inside Swing Rolls, and some fun 'cross behind' steps.

Hi Julia: big discovery today in the rink; tying tighter shoe laces produced better progress.

Thanks for sharing, I'll try that next season.

Oh yes, proper lace tying is so essential to good foot connection with the ice.

@CoachJulia What about the upper part of the boot? For me, if it's too tight, it feels as if it hinders movement.

Coach Julia, what is the difference between a forward crossover and a forward progressive run

Yeah. I don’t know how to ask the ladies to dance because this information is lacking.

Any tips on controlling those back steps would be helpful on and off the ice. The first time I tried this dance I was a bit taken back on how deceptive those last 4 steps are.
