Well then you can call xfinity for support, which you get for free. Have you tried forgetting and or setting static up?

Login to your router's IP and try to turn off WPS and turn back on. This should help you wipe any stuck IP's. That's usually why you can't obtain IP or connect.

Im useing an Xfinity wifi hotspot, it's my only means of connection.
Im Not very tech savvy so, forgive me if I sound like an idiot lol
But for this last year using this hotspot, there will be some days where it suddenly doesn't work and will display "IP configuration failure" in a never ending loop... Until it randomly fixes itself...
Otherwise this hotspot works fine, and it's the only one around.
Also I've tried changing it to static, which will connect, but not to the internet, so it's pointless...
My firestick is connected to the hotspot, and working fine, but nothing else will work. (Using an Android phone)
What else can I do?
Once this goes out, im basically cut off from the world! HELP!

@@user-oi8wo6zr6b getting my own internet connection was the only thing that fixed this lol it would do this routinely every few months or so for up to a week at times, then it would go back to normal. Never got a change to figure out what caused this, sry guys.

Reboot device, Change name of your SSD, Forget the network on your device. If you are connecting you and have no internet this is slightly different issue.
Did all that... But it connect to it randomly... Not when I want it to connect.....

what is a static ip and how can it solve the 'failed to obtain a valid ip address for the xfinity hotspot on my laptop? I got this isse two days ago at the same time as my xbox getting a 'failed to connect to dhcp server' after this nothing seems to connect to the hotspot. tried my playstation, which hadn't been pugged in for months, and someone else's phone...nothing works on it. I've tried everything i could think of to get the hotspot to work....but I am not that smart when it comes to this stuff.....do you happen to know how to fix this?
Did you ever fix this problem the xfinity hotspot was working for for 2 weeks in my room which has the best signal but yesterday I got that ip message yet when I go in my bathroom it works just fine their and other parts of my house

@@user-oi8wo6zr6b apparently xfinity doesn't want you using the hotspot from your home yourself. The issue was that you cannot connect to the hotspot unless someone near you also has xfinity and has the hotspot enabled. It stopped working for me cause the only other person with xfinity near me moved. everyone else has verizon or dish.
I am not very intelligent about things like this, but after calling them about it they pretty much told me this exactly. That, and they will make no attempt at fixing issues involving the hotspot. This is what I was told.
hey mike... i was searching solution for "obtaining ip address" and "ip address unavailable" and while trying to connect it shows "avoided poor internet connection' even though it is not marked in the settings.... my mobile is LAVA IRIS X1 s505 i have tried many apps to fix it but failed.... could you please help me?

Fucking hell. I turned off my routers DHCP. But kept on the modem. I'll try the other way around and see if it works. It's been a nightmare.
I work in a hotel and some people can connect while other can not. I can change the IP address to 192.168.1.36 and the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and DHCP to static. I get 99 percent but all can connect. I had an Apple phone which would not work at all. The provider (Cyprus) said it is a firm ware problem any ideas for my last 1 percent. Thanks

i have wireless access Point which is linked with my home router. there are other routers that that are linked to this AP. i can connect my phone just fine with these other ones but with my router i'm getting this "Obtaining IP Address" ... so what should i do when im in the 192.168.1.1 settings page to fix this? Oh and also when trying to connect to this AP im getting this "Obtaining IP"

I think the problem is the router because it works on its own. Probably the tech guys in where I live right now fixed the issue the connection issue. 😹
I have a nabi dreamtablet and it started working and then stopped again.
