I've got Celestial Dawn in my Dromar the Banisher color change/color hate deck. Making all of my creatures white allows me to use Dromar's ability while choosing any other color, avoiding bouncing my own creatures back to hand as well. The mana fixing is a nice side benefit. If you order your play correctly it can also be used for funny combos using either Painter's Servant or Shifting Sky with cards like Light of Day, Righteous War, or Psychic Allergy.
Cannabalize is sweet. I found this card a few months ago and bought a few copies. Has preformed so well. I’ve been finding a ton of underplayed cards by searching for the retro border cards.
Call Forth the Tempest is often game-ending in my Rashmi & Ragavan deck. I generally end up cascading 3x before the damage trigger, leaving me to swing into them completely. Absolutely brutal. Big fan of Cannibalize as well; just added it to my Cleopatra deck because of this video.
When I very first started playing Magic I only had a bunch of random commons. A friend gave me a Celestial Dawn so that my deck was actually playable. It'll always have a place in my heart for that.
Yooo shoutout Carnival of Souls. I'm a brand new EDH player (with a little bit of standard experience on arena) and in my research I felt like seeing Carnival I had found a big sleeper card with massive potential! Plenty of stuff like Phyrexian Reclamation, Arguel's Blood Fast, and Vampiric Rites (this one gains life!) to consider building around for big value imo.
i used celestial dawn in a Niv-mizzet Reborn deck where i ran dual colored white spells as the main theme and other cards. it was essentially a 5 color white chroma deck. i made the deck because of light from within, but since kudo, king among bears came out i have switched the commander to that and have taken it out.
Centaur Omenreader is an all-star in my Sachi, Daughter of Seshiro deck. With Sachi in play, can tap Centaur Omenreader for 2, and all my creatures cost 2 less (plus the 2 additional I just got from CO)!
i play cannibalize in my Gix, Yawgmoth praetor deck. it uses only cards tied to old phyrexia and cards from stronghold urzas saga, brothers war, and so on. its my most flavorful deck and it really feels like the war for dominaria
I have Carnival of Souls in my BG Shadowborn Apostle deck. It's a glass cannon but can go off in many degenerate ways, like with Glimpse of Nature and Carnival of Souls you could basically drop half of your deck until you hit Blood Artist and such, or you just tutor for Razaketh and go off from there.
Yeah I’m the guy who made a Mardu Merc deck (Vihann as commander) and am working on a Jund version (lead by Ognis), and Cateran Summons was one of the first cards I added to both.
4:30 Gisa rhe Ghoulcaller will love that! 13:30 in Izzet, Omnispell Adept coul cast it for 3 mana, saving you mana for copying that "Call forth the Tempest" for even kore value. Also, donate a Stuffy Doll with Bazaar Trader and hurt an opponent? 15:30 donate it in a Zedruu deck ... Eh eh, good bye zombies and Goblins!
Using Celestial Dawn in my 5 color saga deck (wanted to play the The Kami War saga). Perfect fixing and an enchantment to trigger my enchantresses, what´s not to like.
caller of the hunt has to be a cost because if it was an etb like usual it would die before the etb resolved. could possibly be a cast trigger but i think there's memory issues there, making it an additional cost makes the most sense even if it's bizarre.
Celestial Dawn used to be an all star in Zedruu back in the day, because it locked out an opponent from the game if that person didn't have white in their commander's colour identity. After the rule change, it basically lost all use.
I play ceta sanctuary in my temur ninth doctor + clara deck and it puts in a ton of work, better than rhystic study for that deck. I had no idea cannibalize existed and I'm going to now try to find room for it in at least one of my decks with black. love the versatility and efficient cost
I have a 5 color General Tazri deck to tutor for Orvar, the All Form…so it is basically a 5 color Orvar deck….Cateran Summons is a cheaper tutor for Orvar in that deck.
Celestial Dawn might be nice for General Ferrous Rokiric, no wait, no it's not. This would make my boros spells white and it won't trigger Rokiric. If the middle portion wasn't included, it would fit.
like most of the people here celestal dawn purpose in my deck is as if it was a chromatic lantern/the world tree so the mana is fixed infact im highly considering a huge gamble of trying 5-color theft with the sliver overlord as the commander this is a slam dunk to be able to cast spells when theft effects don't have "as if it was mana of any color"
Yes and no - Celestial Dawn is harder to remove, and there are scenarios that colors matter. For example, you could pitch an artifact or a mono-black card from your hand to evoke Solitude.
Cannibalize could be the only Robert Bliss card I have seen without some sort of phallus infiltration within the artwork. Or maybe i just haven't seen it yet 😂
I created a list of cards that are either interesting or unique and most of them I know about because of this format. Like how do you always find these cards :D
@@edhdeckbuildingtotally realise that. I just thought that changeling was an ability, not a card type, and that meant Cateran Summons could not grab a changeling, as they are usually Shapeshifter's with the changeling ability, not Mercenariea until they hit the battlefield. Have I misinterpreted this rule?
@@brendans1983 changeling is an ability, and it works in all zones. so in your library that card (even if it isn't a creature card) is all creature types.
The videos are an opinion piece, from his perspective. So "Should" is the correct word for him to use. The world of clickbait titles is annoying, but this isn't a good use-case to fight that battle.
Back when I started playing commander a long time ago, my friend had a zeru deck in magic online with celestial dawn. Back then to couldn't make mana outside your color identity, so he'd gift it to non white players. Since they couldn't make white mana, their lands did nothing. Rules have long since changed though.

Using Celestial Dawn in my Sen Triplets deck, probably the most important card in there.
Same here, it's an all-star in that deck
I just love the flavor text of Carnival of Souls. Poor Davvol.
haha I hadn't noticed it till I read your comment. good stuff
I would use celestial dawn in the 5 color eldrazi deck that also wants colorless mana
Poor who?
On a completely unrelated note there was a free cake in the office today and it was delicious!
Carnival of souls, once thought to be one of the worst cards ever printed, at least when we had mana burn.
@@derrickpaulson3093 to be fair, making creature tokens at the time Carnival of Souls was printed was not very easy or efficient.
Cannabalize is sweet. I found this card a few months ago and bought a few copies. Has preformed so well. I’ve been finding a ton of underplayed cards by searching for the retro border cards.
Celestial Dawn is an all-star in Sen Triplets. Allows you to cast anything from your opponents' hands outside of your colors
Call Forth the Tempest is often game-ending in my Rashmi & Ragavan deck. I generally end up cascading 3x before the damage trigger, leaving me to swing into them completely. Absolutely brutal.

First ever video I've ever seen reference Celestial Dawn. Respect!
Go-shintai Shrine deck loves that Celestial Dawn 😊
Any of the mercenary/rebel search cards works great in a changling deck or with a maskwood nexus.
oh man, ceta sanctuary is going to be such a good addition to my low to the ground Loot, tKtE deck. I appreciate the suggestion!
Cateran Kidnappers is also a Mercenary tutor card on a stick a little expensive mana wise but possibly useful if they add more to the game.
i used celestial dawn in a Niv-mizzet Reborn deck where i ran dual colored white spells as the main theme and other cards. it was essentially a 5 color white chroma deck. i made the deck because of light from within, but since kudo, king among bears came out i have switched the commander to that and have taken it out.

Celestial dawn can be used in decks that you play opponents cards. Spend white to do so, but the trouble is actually pulling that off.
Yeah I’m the guy who made a Mardu Merc deck (Vihann as commander) and am working on a Jund version (lead by Ognis), and Cateran Summons was one of the first cards I added to both.
Call forth the tempest has won me a ton of games in my Faldorn deck. Great card.
Celestial Dawn is great in Sin Triplets, as it colorfixes you for 5 colors with a 3 color Commander.
Celestial Dawn would be fun in a monowhite Kennrith build.
Call Forth The Tempest is going into my Svella deck. Eight is the deck's favorite casting cost.
My friend used Celestial Dawn to mana fix his 5-color Scion of the Ur Dragon deck. Works pretty well.
Celestial dawn I use in go shintai color fixes and triggers off enchantment synergies plus it can be easily tutorable
Cannibalize is great in my Kulrath Knight pauper edh deck. Exile one creature, lock down another from attacking or blocking with Kulrath's ability.
4:30 Gisa rhe Ghoulcaller will love that!

Celestial Dawn would probably work well in a Multicolor Dream Halls deck. Being in white is good for searching enchantments anyway

Celestial Dawn + Steve + Emeria Shepherd = put every basic land in your deck into play
is steve shorthand for something else?
indianastoned8234
Steve is a nickname for Sakura Tribe Elder.
I play ceta sanctuary in my horde of notions deck. Just an all around win. More cards, put the big elementals to the bin where they cost less mana.
I use call of the wild in vae victis asmaldi the dire, along with similar effect to cheat stufc from the top of the library
I play ceta sanctuary in my temur ninth doctor + clara deck and it puts in a ton of work, better than rhystic study for that deck. I had no idea cannibalize existed and I'm going to now try to find room for it in at least one of my decks with black. love the versatility and efficient cost
Should is a strong word but nice video
For anyone considerung Carrion for Zask: Coiling Woodworm + Yavimaya can both be played from graveyard and result in a whole lot of insects.
I have a 5 color General Tazri deck to tutor for Orvar, the All Form…so it is basically a 5 color Orvar deck….Cateran Summons is a cheaper tutor for Orvar in that deck.

Caller of the Hunt could be a surprise beater in Nethroi decks. Sure, you cannot mutate it, but Nethroi should be able reanimate it for free.
Bottomless pit, and gibbering descent are great as well.
I love Cannibalize in my Xantcha deck!
14:43 flash fire
Great video as always
Canibalize is premium removal in a Jon Irenicus deck.
Caller of the hunt seems fun in xyris 👍🏻
Firesong and sunspeaker for the celestial dawn
Caller of the Hunt and that Kudo bear!
i had it added to my sen triplets deck there fore i could cast anything from my oponets that i took control of
Isn't chromatic lantern just better than celestial dawn?? The lantern essentially does the same thing but ramps you??
Yes and no - Celestial Dawn is harder to remove, and there are scenarios that colors matter. For example, you could pitch an artifact or a mono-black card from your hand to evoke Solitude.
Found ceta sanctuary early on playing commander because I love temur
I use Centaur Omenreader in my Inga and Esika deck, so I can tap her for mana and cast big creatures for less 💯
Cannibalize could be the only Robert Bliss card I have seen without some sort of phallus infiltration within the artwork. Or maybe i just haven't seen it yet 😂
I created a list of cards that are either interesting or unique and most of them I know about because of this format. Like how do you always find these cards :D
I use celestial dawn in a donate deck it mana fixes me and I can ship it to an opponant to shut off their utility lands
I have the Cera Sanctuary in my Gimbal deck
Omenreader is great in a vehicles deck
ooh cannibalize would be good in a ygra deck.
Can't believe you didn't mention Ghave for Carnival of Souls, Or Gravecrawler.
believe it!
11:17 Wait, am i missing something? Cateran Summons can't grab Shapeshifter's, can it?
no. changeling and shapeshifter are 2 different things.

Should gets views
Could could get views

The videos are an opinion piece, from his perspective. So "Should" is the correct word for him to use.

Should!
a centaur that reduces creature cost, honestly might fit into a mutate deck.
back in the day Celestial Dawn was affectionately called 'Bleach'. At least by me and my friends.
We called it White Wash.
Back when I started playing commander a long time ago, my friend had a zeru deck in magic online with celestial dawn. Back then to couldn't make mana outside your color identity, so he'd gift it to non white players. Since they couldn't make white mana, their lands did nothing. Rules have long since changed though.
Ceta sanctuary is great for Flubs the fool
Caller of the hunt cant be cheated out or it dies immediately lol
Celestial dawn goes in donate doesn’t it? Shuts down someone’s special lands.
Is Carrion and Coat of Arms a braindead infinite? Am I missing something? I've never seen Carrion before.
No, Carrion is an instant so the sacrifice for tokens isn't repeatable unless you can cast it again.
Ohhh. I completely overlooked that. Was just listening and thought it was an enchantment like Greater Good. Thanks for clarifying. :)
I like cannibalize in my Jon Irenicus deck. Get rid of the creature my opponent wants, buff the goaded one they don't want.
5:20 this card is horrendous not gonna lie
I would use chromatic lantern over celestial dawn every day, and I already don't run chromatic lantern in most of my decks
Carnival of souls + darien king of kjeldor + soul warden 😂
Does that work? Carnival says lose a life, Darien says damage. If it does, it's going in my Elas il-Kor deck.
@@thelunchlady8276 After further investigation it seems that it does not indeed. Damage causes loss of life but it's not true the other way around.
Call Of The Wild 4GGGG:
_Mill 1._
>.
taking the worse scenario is always going to make a card seem bad. you skipped over the part where you can cheat a big creature into play every turn.
call forth the tempest damage doubling is funny or repercussion
Cards you “shouldn’t” put in your commander deck.
cannibalize... 2 mana SORCERY SPEED removal. gross
it fits in specific themes. just check the comments of people talking about the decks they play it in.
short answer, zero cards. Commander as a trash format. play any regular 60 card format as the game was intended
