    You are incredible! I literally did the first exercise for one set of 10 reps and I did the 2nd for about a minute before I felt a little movement in my left flared rib. No pain or anything. I immediately checked it out in the mirror and I was startled to see it’s been fixed! Thanks!

    Day 1:This really helped a lot I definitely noticed a difference the second I did this ☺️
    I’ll update everyday to show progress
    Day 1: not bad no difference yet
    Day2:it felt more normal and not stick out so much
    Day3:no difference yet
    Day 4: I see a difference and I ended up trying to slim my waist more to see if it can change
    Day 5: I see a huge difference from day one though it still sticks out a bit
    I should recommend doing upper abs workouts for this to see if there is any difference so I’ll update tomorrow

      I’m so excited to try this! I am hypermobile and have lax ligaments. I started an at home pilates program for hypermobility a little over a month ago to help with hypermobility in general, but I’m having a lot of trouble with rib flare. When the directions are to “keep your ribs down” or “soften your rib cage to the floor” (when on your back) I really struggle. So excited to find a video that addresses rib flare specifically and can’t wait to work in these exercises!! Thank you!

    • @Bonesmartpilates
      @Bonesmartpilates  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Aalekh, if say your upper traps are hyperactive on the right, try a side bending stretch seated. Hold the bottom/side edge of your chair with your right hand to stabilize that side, then lean your left ear toward your left shoulder, rotate your nose toward your armpit and slowly nod your head like your saying yes. This is a wonderful stretch and myofascial release for those overactive muscles and their surrounding fascia. Go slowly and breathe. All the best!

    Oh I have questions! I have been dealing with my left rib cage protruding for a year and has increasingly become more painful. The doctors have done a ton of tests all to show nothing. Ct scans, xrays, ultrasounds, labs, mammogram, lung function test. This hurts to lay down, sit down and sometimes standing. They tried PT it put me in ER from the pain it caused. They also did 2 injections of some numbing meds in my left shoulder blade. Did nothing for my ribs. No doctor has mentioned a rib flare, only saying yeah i feel it , it's your ribs lol
    I was in a major car wreck in 2012 that injured my chest from the seat belt and air bag Idk if that would cause it. But it did disable me so poor posture is definitely a problem as I am extremely limited to exercise. Currently they say only walk. Any ideas?

      @@kbh4bratz yeah no problem! I always like to check up on people and I think it is important to see how others are doing. I do know for a fact that chest problems can lead to rib problems, such as Pectus excavatum but this might not be your case. Poor posture and bad breathing can do a number too like you’ve said. If I were you I would try breathing through your stomach and use your diaphragm (correct breathing). I know your situation is painful but try to be in the best posture position possible for that can maybe work on your mobility. You probably already know this lol... also I’d go on walks like your doctor said and that might be able to get a little bit of mobility back as well tho may take time. I’m assuming you’ve tried a chiropractor but if not maybe they might can do something, It has worked for a lot of people. I feel bad because I’m for sure you’ve probably tried this or heard this advice. I’d look into Costochondritis too, this is a condition doctors cannot tell by scans. You seem pretty positive, don’t settle!

      One or two times a day is good, to help reinforce a new pattern of movement awareness. Pick an amount that you feel you can be consistent with. I don't want you to be discouraged if you start high and can't maintain that. The main goal is changing the way you hold yourself and move to be more efficient and in healthy alignment. Each one of you is unique and you will have different requirements of repetition to embody a new way of being in your body.

      I’ve had a flared ribcage for a long time, since I was probably 8 or sum was when my family noticed it (I’m 16 now). I didn’t really pay attention to it or care. I didn’t have pain but now I really want it to go away. My best advice to you is figure out what’s causing it first, then it’ll be easier to know what will work for you. There are many different causes such as genetics, bad breathing, and poor posture. Make sure to breath using your stomach and involve your diaphragm... also work on a straight/good posture. The best advice though if you have it because of genetics (like me) is to train and workout your abs. That will strengthen your muscles around your ribs and move everything into place.
