Nice to see this review. I’ve been in a catch 100 for about 6 years and it’s been a wonderful Kayak. I’ve been down the saluda, behind the zoo into the 3 rivers, wateree, several spots on the broad. Murray, countless ponds. I can honestly say I wouldn’t sell it. I highly recommend the Pelican Catch series if you are thinking about getting into kayak fishing. These things are the ATV’s of kayaks, they run unbelievably shallow. They are extremely maneuverable. They come with great seats that are removable and interchangeable. They are one of the lightest kayaks on the market. The RAM-X hull is like your old Rubbermade trash cans, they bounce back from everything. Rocks, docks, stumps, bridge pilings, concrete. I’ve never hit anything really sharp like jagged metal. They are truly unbelievable at their price point.
@@darylnicholas4601 glad you’re enjoying your catch 100! Sounds like you’ve put it to good use for sure! Such a versatile fishing kayak. Great rivers down there in the midlands too
Finally !!! I have been going back n forth on the catch mode for a couple years now. This video is the best one yet. I am sold Brother ! And Sister lol. I have heard it is slow and clunky, doesnt turn the best, but you surely proved that wrong. Class II Rapids....What?!?! I am 6 ft couple hundred (on a good day) - And you look sooooo comfortable !! This is the kind of kayak I could fish all day, not catch a thing and be completely satisfied ! Thanks again !!!!
Hey,thanks for the video. This is the info I have been looking for. Despite the fact I will probably never be in rapids I appreciate knowing that the boat can.
Hello, I wasn’t sure about catch mode and durability, since it’s not rotomolded. Did the skeg work well and do you think a large dog(Lab) would fit in front of you? How durable is it after being on the river. I was surprised tracking was good as a lot of people didn’t like it. Sure it depends on your paddle skills. Mainly concerned about dog. Thanks for great video Scott 5:405:43
@@MAGAScott it held up fine on the river but yeah it’s not really made for tons of whitewater. I think a large dog would fit fine in front of you and you could even remove the front cargo net for more room if needed. This one didn’t have a skeg but it actually tracked pretty good even without the skeg. Hope that helps!
How did Academy handle the skeg? I just got mine and I have the same issue, do I need to return the whole kayak? I already have it registered too. Thanks and very informative video!
@@danielhurtado2975 he ended up just keeping it as is but I would definitely call Academy and ask. Maybe you could order the skeg parts from Pelican and switch it out yourself? Wish I had more info for you! Let me know how it works out 🤞

Great video! I'm 6 foot 1 and was wondering if this kayak would have enough leg room to be comfortable?
Yes should have plenty of room for your legs! My brother in this video is 5’10” and had plenty of room to spare
