  • On today’s episode of Fishing Is Therapy we put the Pelican Catch Mode 110 through the paces and torture test it. I took the Pelican kayak to a hydroelectric dam at Yonah Dam in Toccoa Georgia. We tested this kayaks stability, durability and efficiency. I think this kayak has the best stability, overall build quality and fishability than any other kayak in its price range.

    Great video,How did the yellow banana bait tank do? Did I miss one that you used it?

      It is doing great, but the fish weren't biting well enough to make a video out of it. I was planning to use it striped bass fishing this weekend but it looks like it will be too windy, but soon I will post a video using it.

    I bought the TR version and went out yesterday without the trolling motor 😅 big mistake, it was a windy day and I don’t have the skeg attachment and man that tail end kept kicking out when the wind picked up. Overall the kayak is super comfortable, stable and I definitely felt comfortable to stand up and cast out. Definitely won’t forget the trolling motor again 😂 Love the video!

    • @fishingistherapy
      @fishingistherapy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Man that skeg is crucial for this kayak. I may be adding an adjustable rudder to mine so when I have a fish on I dont have to paddle with one hand to stay straight in current or wind. But this yak is really comfortable and stable. How do you have your trolling.kotor rigged, on the side or rear?

      @@fishingistherapy extremely late response… but I have mine mounted on the pelican trolling motor bracket and wired to a pwm, I use a pvc pipe for stick steering and run a 12v 100amp lithium battery. Great comfort and stability and the battery lasts me all day! Loving this kayak more and more

      @seaboogie0058 Nice setup! That sounds like a good rig. That pwm makes the whole system efficient. Going to rig mine up with a similar setup.

      @@fishingistherapy you definitely need to add the trolling motor! Wish I lived up your way, been watching all your videos and love to watch you catch different species and show all the different techniques! Love from lebanon Pennsylvania!

      @seaboogie0058 Love from GA, glad you find my channel interesting. That would be great to fish with you, glad your yak turned out well. You record any footage of your yak or how the trolling motor is setup?

    Looks like you’re wearing waders, not safe in a kayak,

    • @fishingistherapy
      @fishingistherapy  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Waders with a dry top that seals from waist up and seals the kneck from water entry is a great and safe combo. Watched many tests and did alot of research on this wader safety issue and discovered that its a myth and has only happened without a wading belt present. But I still took precautions with a dry suit top, wading belt and a knife to cut waders if any issue should arise. Thanks for the safety concerns, I appreciate it.

    I bought this kayak last year, came from a cayman 124 and what a difference in the stability, storage and versatility, elevated seat has 2 positions. Great kayak to stand in which is one of the main purposes I bought it.

    Lugging it up and down that bank must have been a workout. Overall that kayak looked like it handled the water really well. Obviously there are more streamlined ones for speed, but this is all about balance and it looks flawless. My local lake has no current so I don't need to worry about anything like this, but it's still nice seeing how it handles just in case. I said it before, but Pelican would be really smart to hire you. Always straight to the point with what people should need to know.

    • @fishingistherapy
      @fishingistherapy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Mam I wish they would hire me, that would be awesome. And yes, it was a brutal drag up and down that hill, the kayak held up well, actually better than I thought. But the stability and overall performance was superb. Glad you watching, it's always good to see your comment!!

    i been looking for one just to explore in but looking for a stable one to carry my coolers and tents in figured one of these fishing kayaks would be my best bet.

    • @fishingistherapy
      @fishingistherapy  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well I believe you may have found the yak for your purpose. It's a stable kayak that you can load up due to its pontoon style.

    Curious what the set up effort and time is like for this on the bank?
    Love the videos man - you're a great presenter

    • @fishingistherapy
      @fishingistherapy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Once I get it down to the bank. I would say under 5 mins. It's really about setting up rod holders and placing things where I want them. If you have more accessories then more time and vice versa.

    hey big bro i though about getting one of these for river fishing. how u liking it? u think it would do decent in the current?

    • @fishingistherapy
      @fishingistherapy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes indeed it will be good in current. I love this yak, when its windy it can be heabier to paddle which is why it has the electric motor option, im still considering getting a motor. The skeg helps alot with the tracking. Its stable, I think if it can handle current in front of a Hydroelectric dam running full power it can definitely handle the river. But it also depends on what your looking for, because its not a speed demon but its stable, easy to steer and you feel comfortable overall in it.

    I wish Pelican made the Basscreek model that stable.

    • @fishingistherapy
      @fishingistherapy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have looked at that one. I felt this one would be more stable and I was right. But the Basscreek model cuts water very well, but it seems tippy.
