I liked this one way more than the ghost house AWNP, because they're trying to entertain, not to con people! In other words, they're honest in their bullshitting. As Miss Lee said "the frosting on the bs cupcake is our choice of flavor". Its just good and "honest" showmanship, which I appreciate.
I said it on that video and I will say it on this, I would have been willing to give the guy from the first episode the benefit of the doubt except he came on a show to operate his business in a tie dye t-shirt and didn't even make sure the house was fully clean going in. It was the level of admitting that it was a business that differentiates the two episodes, even more than how they approach their stuff. Admittedly I am more onboard with someone who says this is fake, everything I have came across is fake, but that doesn't mean that it isn't out there than someone who says this is super cereal guys and my incorrectly used normal stuff says so. Both are shows hightened by the presentation of the building and performance, but the professionalism of this one smashed the Ghost one and makes it feel more like a scam than an entertainment thing. But I am also biased because magic is cool and seances are just stupid because even if they are real why the hell would you invite that on yourself?
Yeah. The episode was basically "Look, it's entirely bullshit, but, it's REALLY COOL bullshit once you actually get to see how it works, so you might want to stick with it.", which imo is better than the Ghost Hunting episode which was "Look, here's SO MUCH FUCKING BULLSHIT, but we will swear to you that it's real."
It's not just that but you also unconciously partner him up with Travis how is massive so he seems like a small dude. Then in the Vox Macina opening him an Ashley Johnson are close in height. My guess for Liam's door trick: 1. At the start of the trick he stands behind the door (and curtain in the door frame). 1a. The dancing of the girls is actually quite important as typical misdirection, to focus attention on them and not on minor details of the door. (notably the black flap at the bottom of the door) 2. When the door get's opend, he makes a step to the right so he is behind the door when the assistant pushed the curtain to the side and showes nothing is there. (and thanks to the now hanging flap you can't see his feet behind the door) 3. Curtain get's closed. 4 . Door get's closed and Liam steps behind the curtain. Here you can even see the blone take a look behind the door while closing it, so she doesnt do it too fast, and Liam has enough time to get behind the curtain. 5. Laim pulls the curtain asinde, poses. 6. Door get's opend to reveal him.
My guess for Ashly's trick: Like with Liams trick, perspective is everything, the appearing girl is crouched *behind* the basket the whole time. There is quite some depth to the table the basket is on. (Noticable when Ashly steps on it to pull out the first sword.) That's why the last shot (when the girl is shown) is a straight front shot, otherwise you could see the depth difference between her and the basket she is supposed to be in.
My guess for Sam's box trick: Fist I wanna say it's a little sad the editor didn't really show the tilting of the box, so it's harder for us to she what was even going on. When the yellow box is turned on the side and opend to show there is nothing inside, what appears to be the bottom of the yellow box, is infact not connected to the other parts and doesn't move at all. The girl is hidden behind it in the black box the whole time. The walls of the yellow box simply move around the girl when it's tilted forward and backward. Like with Ashlys trick, the solution is to have some flexible girls that fit into narrow places.
