- I took my new Garrett Ace 400 metal detector our for a spin at a local park. I found some coins and other items. I'll try to do a review video once I have more time to test it. :)

Recently purchased the Garrett Ace 400 as a backup to my Whites MXT that I've used for 17 years. Thought it a good idea since Whites has gone out of business after 45 years. The first thing I had to do was buy a Garrett GIZMO extension for the upper shaft. The arm cuff initially sat about mid forearm and put the detector off balance whereas the extension placed the cuff just below the elbow. I've also noticed that the standard search coil seems to be nose heavy putting the detector off balance as well. Other than that it works fairly well. Of course it will never be as sweet as the MXT.

You found some good stuff being the first time with the new machine.
The ace 400 seems like an good machine looking at all the video's when ppl are testing it. A good upgrade from the older machines (250/350).
I kind of wished I would have waited to get the Ace 400. I have the Ace 250 and love it but the 400 has a few more options. Good video, are you just testing it for Garrett? It's a good detector from all the videos I've seen. Good video JD.
Good job JD i was planning on buying one of these before i bought my AT Pro Int, to be honest i am glad i chose the AT Pro as compared to the bell tones the AT Pro sounds like its alive, but apart from the bell tones i think the ace range were really good machines, plus nearly all my AT Pro finds are at the depth an ACE would still find it anyway, i worked my way through the garrett range and can vouch for them all, thanks for the vid man GL&HH
I have that same detector and the coolest thing that I've found was a meteor

I understand that ACE series of model detector arm rests break real easy. You might want to put some tape in you vehicle just in case!

I don't own a Garrett yet but I do know I don't like the tones on the ACE. I will probably go with the AT PRO.

AT Pro is a better machine and it's waterproof too.

It's hard to go into detail in a comment. Even though the Ace 400 is a little more refined that the other Ace models, the Ace series detectors are still entry level machines. The AT pro is a much better and in my opinion worth the extra $. It's a machine you'll be able to use for a long time without needing to upgrade. It's a great multi purpose machines for hunting coins and relics around iron infested sites. And it's awesome in the water as well.

Feel sorry for you, alls you have is modern parks. And we can go back 2000 years in my town. And medieval wood land where Henry the 8th use to hunt is on my door step.

I have a lot of different detectors. But mainly use the T2 these days.
