Swing Makeover | How to Make a Outdoor Swing Seat From Wood

- Hi Everyone,
My swing was falling apart! The frame was so sturdy and strong and after I took off the canopy and the rotting fabric seat and back, it sat for almost 3 years without anything on it. Do you have an empty frame sitting in your backyard, too? Haha
I decided to use picket fence wood because it's made from cedar and meant for the outdoor elements. I cute them to size and then I placed them on my swing frame and to my surprise, it's super sturdy!
I got the pickets from Home Depot, the screws & spray paint from Lowe's and the paint from Sherwin Williams
I hope you give this a try! You might be pleasantly surprised what you can accomplish.
Blessings!
Ronda (aka "Sparkly One")

Great job, yes, I have stuff in my backyard that have sat unused and unloved but you have given me inspiration!!
Yay! I’m so happy you found some inspiration from my makeover 🥰 Hope you create something amazing!
Hi Rhonda, looks great! Yes garden video, I love gardening always looking for inspiration from others garden's. Have a wonderful weekend. Prayers & Blessings my friend 💕😘🙏
Hi Char! Thank you so much for your input! Prayers & blessings to you, too! 🥰🙏🏻💝
Could you put a net curtain on that
Hurrah! I have this exact swing frame in my back yard waiting (for years) for me to figure out how to redo it. This gives a good starting point. Thanks so much!
Just make sure to make strong braces of some sort under the bench part. My husband and I fell through it with coffee in our hands ☕️😂 We weren’t hurt and got a good laugh out of it, but it could’ve ended badly. Haha Maybe make slats in short pieces vertically instead of long ones horizontally? I’m a little stumped at this point. Keep me posted! 😀🙌🏻
@@SparklyOne Yikes! Thanks for the update. I'd wanted to run the seat pieces front to back for reasons of rain drainage. Your experience confirms that this might be a better idea. Of course, if one used heavier material, running it lengthwise should not be a problem. I am not sure yet what I'm using. I have to wait for the snow to get off my husband's scrap lumber piles before I can tackle this. The part I just could not envision is how to do that back section and I think your video really helped with that. We'll see what happens later in the spring or summer when I get around to tackling this project.
Keep me posted! I would be interested to see how it turns out. I need a new plan! Haha!
Hey Rhonda just checking I hope you and your family are well , haven’t seen your videos for a while hope you are ok 👍 take care god bless you, sarah
Hi sweet Sarah! Thank you so much for checking in with me 🥰 I miss making videos, but life gets busy and I really haven’t been motivated to make any videos lately. I do have some easy crochet projects that I’m working on and hopefully filming those soon. We are doing great and staying healthy. I’m going to try to do a live video soon! Sending hugs & prayers your way! You make my heart smile 🥰💖🌸💝😀🧶
That’s good to hear take care 🥰💞😁
