    I have a garden swing similar to yours. The slings don’t last very long with our Florida Sun. I’ve replaced two and started looking for another replacement. Then I found your demonstration on a wood replacement. This is such a great idea! I’m done with fabric slings.

    Great idea. I plan to do the same, maybe with cedar or cypress, and to replace the canopy fabric with thin wood slats as well. It won't keep me dry, but it will provide shade.

      I’ve done that- the cushions fall through the openings. I think the wood will last longer and provide a better platform for the cushions.

    Thank you. I just came up with the idea to redo my canvas swinging bench too. Love the yellow stain you chose. I wasn’t sure if the wood would create too much weight or cause an imbalance but I see it doesn’t at all.

    Having a table saw I would ripped the boards length wise to be able to cover the whole seat and back.

    You could also buy patio chair material and used the old material you cut off as your pattern to sew a new one.

    One of the front metal rods holding the swing seat is missing. What can I do? I can replace the remaining 3 but with what? Rope? Chain?

    What is the thickness and width of the boards used?

    • @susiealverson1
      @susiealverson1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looks like 2x 6’s or 2 x 8’s. Length would depend on the length of your bench structure. Hope that helps in case she doesn’t see your question.
