  • We found this patio swing on the curb and I decided to give it a makeover. This project was done in Summer 2020 and with lumber prices as high as they are now, you may want to hold off even on a project like this.

I have had 2 of these lying around for years but I always told myself I'd fix them but never knew how! Thank you for this!!

Thank you so much for sharing this. I have a swing with moldy cloth on it that holds water. I was thinking about putting webbing on it until I seen your video. Wood seems like the way to go.

Swing is still going strong! No signs of degradation.

I would cut off the excess on each bolt and grind it smooth for safety reason, especially with small children. Good job.

Thank you. I agree, those bolt ends have to go. That'll be the next project I work on.

No problem! Glad he could make it work. We're still using ours to this day, still holding up strong!

What was the angle you figured out to cut for the back pieces?

I do not remember. I bought a protractor from Home Depot and measured the angle of the metal, and used that.

With configuration, does the swing lay flat?

    • @DaveOTech

Hey, mine does not. However it may be possible to do something and make it lay flat.

Could you please give me the list of materials you used and the measurements. From already thank you very much

Hi, the measurements depend on what you are attaching the boards to. I started out with 3 short 2x3s on the bottom. Then screwed in 5 1x4s across the 2x3s. I did the same for the back part of the swing. Use any wood stain to stain the wood, and then use polyurethane to seal it.

Any way to mod it to lay down

Hi, what do you mean by that specifically?
