If you see closely, you can see that the shutter curtains are broken, after a certain amount of photos you take, the shutter curtains will break, leaving the camera practically irreparable.

And no camera is worthless just because it's old, monetaraly cheap yes but not without use. Cameras like that one are great to get started in photography with, because they are so cheap.

Basically yes, that's exactly how it works. Without that mirror you're not able to use the optical viewfinder anymore, only the back display works properly. However, without the mirror a manufacturer can make the camera body more compact, everything what needed is just to replace the optical viewfinder with the electronic one.

No worries, it's just a super ancient EOS 10D from back in 2003 it most likely already broken beyond repair and replacement parts are probably hard to find. Anyway, 6MP is probably considered potato quality in 2023.
