Imagine if you went there just expecting to see Elliott acoustically and then this happened, bloody hell. Wish I wasn't a kid when all this was happening.
Oh man, I grew up in Portland and was in high school when this concert took place. I literally lived in close proximity to him and never got to see him. I second your sentiment.

man, he had nothing but fucking HITS. like bro, fucking banger and banger. nothing less. how i wish he was still here. and how i wish there was a good quality bootleg album of live rips like these.
I think it was in 96' or 97' I went to see Sebadoh at the howling wolf. I got there early as I liked to hear the sound check. I sat at the bar, Elliott came out. We talked. I noticed his Mighty Mouse tattoo, asked him what he thought about Texas (noticed his other tattoo)...., the bartender served us spaghetti and we ate together and I thought he was just some random nice but haggard N.O. dude. I left and then came back in time to see the opener which holy crap! was Elliott who then proceeded to blow me away. I/we had never heard of him. All of Sebadoh (Jason, Lou, Eric ) stood next to me and watched in awe while the talkers talked behind us he played alone on a chair. twas a beautiful night. I had been studying classical guitar and voice at this time for 3 years so to witness him totally usurp classically "good" voice and guitar was awesome. thanks for posting this.
Just found this video. Thank you so much for posting! I saw him a week later at the 9:30 Club in DC. My memory for the last 20 years was of being disappointed w. the concert because I really wanted an acoustic performance. I was So Very Wrong. This concert is Amazing! Wish I realized how wonderful it was back then instead of so much later. Wow!
Thank you for uploading this. I find it quite strange how Elliott would close some of his sets with songs which had no official release at the time 'Twilight' here and 'Flowers For Charlie' on a couple of other sets. Having heard either of them at the show at the time would have left me desperate to hear them again. I am still hoping a studio version of the latter will be unearthed one day.

They're both Hummingbirds so I thought he borrowed that girl's guitar but his is a Gibson and her's is an Epiphone and besides that's a George Harrison story ha ha.

HEY! At least you were even born while it was happening… I was born 2 years after he died.🥲

I have an autographed set list from this show and was so happy to confirm that this was, in fact, the show by matching up the order of these titles.
@@meredithlyons3746any chance you’d be willing to share a picture of it? that’s an incredible piece to have.
elliott in top form
Are you joking? He was severely addicted during this time and looked worse than ever. But hey the music is good. 😌
@@eis904 Not at this point yet....it was after the tour.
