    Separating out the specific parts and tools for each of the seven step assembly process steps was brilliant on the part of the manufacturer. For the price, I am impressed at how sturdy this th-cam.com/users/postUgkxvObaTzoHoHQLL4lHbJQmExHqsrZQm-f7 unit is and it does go together easily. Well, I was puzzled at first at Step 5 and maybe the instructions should mention that rail #62 needs to be tilted upwards a little to get the rail to fit into the main part #44. I like it that the rower can be stored vertically in a really small amount of space, but be forewarned that this rower is top heavy and for safety you'll need at least two bungee cords to keep the unit upright, attaching them to something; in my case to a third garage door. I have had this unit only a short time, and I will post an update once I've had it for a year. As for working your legs, I have to admit that I'm mainly rowing for upper body strength and I use other forms of exercise for leg strength (like walking fast, biking, or using a trampoline. But if you pull as far forward as possible, then you can give preference to your legs for the first 4 feet or so of travel. I also admit to not taking the two electronic connectors apart at Step 7. I simply inserted the two batteries while the other parts remained connected. By the way, there is plenty of resistance here, even in the lowest resistance settings. Kudos to Sunny Health & Fitness !

      If you already have a peloton subscription, the subscription savings makes it quickly price comparable to the hydrow. Even the cheaper one.
      Since peloton is currently in a cash crunch, i think they are initially targeting current customers who are considering adding a hydrow subscription. Hopefully if they can get their business in order they will lower prices for the non early adopters.

    I’m in the diehard peloton camp. I preordered day one. I agree the price is restrictive to most. However, the cost to me is digestible when subscription costs come into play. Since I own the tread and bike+, I don’t need to pay for another sub for the Row. Buying a hydrow meant another sub, which after 4 years is ~$1800. Overtime, the subscription is way more expensive than the equipment.
    That said, if I didn’t have Peloton equipment, the cheaper alternatives are worthy solutions.
    Love the overview. Looking forward to the comparisons.

      We are the same. I would consider other rowers (like Ergatta for example) but owning a Bike+ and already paying for a subscription that would just work out of the box with the Peloton Row is a huge selling point. Can't be dismissed. Plus, having more variety in cardio options while still being on the same platform improves my chances of hitting those 10+ day streaks that are gamified into Peloton.

    I guess to begin assessing whether or not it would even be worth considering at that price (which is crazy high but not unusual for peloton). The price is ridiculous. I was hoping to buy this and sell my Hydrow to save on membership fees but the content is not up to par with Hydrow. I love that my rowing workouts are completely different from my bike+ workouts. I’m not a big fan of studio workouts and since I’ve experienced Hydrow’s on the water content I can’t go backwards. I’ll pay the extra fee, if Peloton ever steps it up and puts them in the water I’d reconsider.

    Charlotte South Park has one to try out. It is smooth and quiet and after about 3 minutes I could see this is the next great machine. Sticker shock yes, regrettably too much for my pocket book. To Clarify I use the Peloton App on a connected bowflex bike and Treadmill, I also use Zwift and Ifit apps. I like the flexibility. I've been doing Peloton for over 4 years. So having options was great for me. I find the Hydro wave very quiet. The workouts are easy to jump into. I like that Hydrow concentrates on rowing and fitness. It's all about rowing and they seem to have been the innovators of connected rowing. Connect the Watts TH-cam reviews are great, and I enjoy watching things I have no intention of buying. You make them interesting.

  • @stocktonrails9279
    @stocktonrails9279 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Here’s my take: First, the price for this high-end ‘smart’ rower is ridiculous- and I’m sure many others would agree with that. And the high initial cost for the rower, combined with the annual subscription costs, amounts to even more money out of your pocket. And what if the cost for the rower subscription goes up every year, and you decide to cancel it… and all you have then is a $3,000+ ‘just-row’ rowing machine? What kind of deal is it then- would you still feel good about your purchase? Now if cost is no object, then go for it… I must admit, this is a beautiful rower to look at, and I love the touch screen as well. But the cost for all of this is just too high for many folks… there are other more cost-effective rowing options out there.
    P.S. As far as Concept 2 rowers sounding like a ‘chainsaw’- I have a Concept 2 rower that my wife and I use twice a week (for the last 3 yrs), and it has over 900km on it. Though it isn’t as quiet at the Peloton, the sound from it (even during my vigorous rows) is totally reasonable and it sounds nothing like a chainsaw.

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup it’s a slightly lighter color and no word on international release. It looks to me like they do not have a lot of confidence in the sales and so only released in the US, with no financing and a 2 month lead time so that they can know exactly how many to make. I would guess that, depending on how it does it will come international at some point… but it might be a while

      Thanks!
      For one simple reason, almost no one (outside of Peloton diehards) will buy it at this price. Especially given that very nice alternatives exist at less than 1/3rd the price. $2,500 is the price I would look for which is still very expensive for a rower, and given that Peloton has changed their pricing within the past 12 months, I would not be surprised to the see the price drop in early 2023.

    • @brooks886
      @brooks886 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ConnectTheWatts maybe that's the idea. Peloton can't mess around with ordering too much and having much capital in unused machines. Keep the orders small until either $pton crashes or they survive this thin financial period. I think the row makes sense in the 5 year portfolio but doesn't make sense within the 24 month portfolio. • @Celineanddino
    @Celineanddino ปีที่แล้ว

    Truly a shame that the slide can't fold down like Concept 2. Aside from the price, this thing has a big footprint so you will have to stand it up to store it. Need a wall to put it on, and be mindful of low-hanging lamps when lifting it up. Finally, the power cord will get in the way too. I couldn't;t tell how quiet it was due to the background noise and the sounds coming from the monitor. Pretty much the same as with the water rower so I don't think a quieter operation is really that big a deal. Also, did you put a water bottle into that bottle holder > It looks like a bottle in this spot would be in the way of the handle. Good review, I sincerely hope Peloton will one day get in the black.

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks, ya no way to easily break it down like the Concept 2... especially since there are sensors that run through it to the seat to determine positioning. Power cord didn't seem be the way at all upon raising it up, and as quiet as the Water Rower is, this is much more quiet (I really can't emphasis enough how silent it is). I did test the water bottle holder with a pretty decent sized bottle and it worked very well, since it goes pretty deep. Well out of the way of the handle.

      I had the Ergatta for 1 year, I liked it, but it did get a bit boring, so I did sell it a few months ago. It also started to develop some squeaks and groans when working out with it. Otherwise, it was a nice rower, but I think this is a much better rower, and of course it should be for the cost difference. I believe that the higher quality of the Peloton rower and the instructors and classes on it will prove to be the main selling points, especially if you already have other Peloton equipment. I don't care for the content on the Hydrow but I like the look of their rower. I think I am willing to at least give the Peloton rower a try for 30 days and then make a decision on if the cost is worth it to me. Do I think the cost is too high, yes, I think it would be a no brainer if priced at $2495, but still, it seems to be the best smart rower on the market (in my opinion) for what it provides. If you don't want or need a smart rower, then the Concept 2 is definitely the way to go.

      I thought that you would’ve gone to PSNY for the review and meet Adrian. Check out this row review where the reviewer didn’t even know who she was talking to: th-cam.com/video/vuItTmif_BE/w-d-xo.html

    It is such a mixed message you just gave. You said you won't recommend the peloton row at just over 3000$. Then you said you want us to order out of the showroom to get them the commission. Do you know why the row costs over 3000$ in the first place? With the stock price (8$) teetering near bankruptcy I would not recommend them sending commissions to brick stores like this is 1965, it is either that or no more peloton after the inevitable chapter 11.

    I’d love to get one of these but sadly I don’t have enough space in my apartment for one…hopefully I can workout on one at one of the showrooms.

      @@balcerzaq There are many ways to enjoy rowing. Mine is rowing 3 times a week, for an hour at 2:10 pace, watching Netflix.

      I like to row while watching Netflix too… especially for aerobic or base-building days.

    I love my bike and find that I am constantly defending Peloton. I love the classes. But I don’t see the value in the rower. I was ready to order one when I heard about it. But I will never buy one for $3200. On top of peloton not releasing the classes on anything but the rower. I fear that this rower will be nail in the coffin of the company.

    I will probably catch a lot of flack for this, but this machine PALES in comparison with the one they are trying to get market share from. There is no argument here, as this is all money driven and laughable to compare.

    Price will leave this dead in the water. Hydrow Wave is going to dominate the market. What a miss from peloton

    Blatant rip-off of the Concept 2 rower (in production since 1981)-and for 3X the cost.
