    I am a huge fan of Das Keyboard's I have 4 of them already in my collection so Das Keyboard was nice enough to send me this Das Keyboard 4 Professional which is their newest design that ships this month! It's rare for me to get to review something before it's available to the general public and I could not be more impressed with the keyboard. It's about as solid as you can get with a keyboard and I would feel confident using this all day long every single day. I recently reviewed a Cooler Master CMStorm Mech keyboard which was also a very nice keyboard and had some features more targeted at gamers and I did love that keyboard and use it on my edit box for the macro capabilities but given the choice I would use the Das Keyboard for day to day operations on my main machine since it just feels more solid and familiar to me and every little key click gives me a bit of joy.

    I went and purchased this keyboard based on your review. I love the way this thing feels! I do a lot of typing and spend a lot of time in front of a computer. This has been the best keyboard I have ever owned. The keys cradle my fingers perfectly. All black keeps it professional. My model has the cherry MX blue switches, which feel great, perfect for typing.

    What a great review. I really like this keyboard from everything I'm seeing. I'm torn between the brown or the blue Cherry keys, but now your selling me on the blue. One guy said the brown still had as good a feel as the blue, but less clicking. Wish I could try one, but I'm so sick of cheap keyboards that give you nothing but problems. I'm probably gonna pop for this board. I love the nice looks of it too. Thanks for a really fun and informative review, and if your apologizing for typing slow on this, I'm gonna go bury my head somewhere. I'm not sure I can even do 80 wpm. Marc.

    Great video. Informative and very helpful. I own two Das keyboards, but when the new Das Keyboard 4 Professional came out, after seeing this video, I purchased it right away. I work on a keyboard 24/7 for my job and want the Rolls-Royce of all keyboards, which for me is the Das. Thanks for taking the time to do this. :)

    Got my 4 Ultimate w/ browns yesterday and loving the crap out of it so far. What surprised me the most right off the bat is how friggin heavy and solid it is, especially when it's being marketed as being the thinnest mkb available.
    Not sure I'd recommend it at its standard price though, I'd probably be fine dropping stuff like the volume wheel and the aluminum if it meant cutting 50+ bucks off the price. When I got it it was on sale for about the same price as a ducky shine which made the little bonus features stand out a hell of a lot more.

    Hey Jerry. I saw all your DAS keyboard videos. You have done a great job with your videos by the way. I have a question though for you if you want to answer it of course. Which type of keys do you prefer the most for typing text and programming? The Cherry MX Blues , the Browns, the Reds or some other type of switch (like the black ones, clear ones, grey ones, etc... or even the buckling spring if you have ever tried them) ? I am trying to figure out which suits the best for me.I don't have much finger strength and I don't mind the clicky sound no matter how loud it is.
    Thank you for your time.

  • @SamuelDaram
    @SamuelDaram 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really useful video Jerry. I need your advice on choosing between Cherry MX Blue and Brown switches. You mention the fact that you touch type a lot, every day. Which do you prefer? Blue or Brown? I just don't want to get Repetitive Strain Injury by using switches that might require more than a 'touch'. I'd appreciate your advice.

    Do one of those with an angled set of keys, that whole 'natural' thing, and I would so be on board for that! Just.. I'm so used to a natural style keyboard that something of that style would just hurt my hands far too much. Great review though! Keep 'em comin!

    • @Zeroplanetz
      @Zeroplanetz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would like RGB for the times I want to play with lights. But I don't want to be limited to one color.

    • @chriskreidler1137
      @chriskreidler1137 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Zeroplanetz Then get a Corsair keyboard :)

    • @Zeroplanetz
      @Zeroplanetz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris Kreidler No. I looked into the k70 rgb. It would work but there are to many issues with it. just do a search on it. also the lighting of only being on half the keys sucks. its a total bummer. so I will remain in my search for a while to come yet.

    • @BrawndoQC
      @BrawndoQC 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Zeroplanetz The RGB Corsair doesn't have issues, and all the keys are lit. It's the regular backlit version that had LED's dying with the initial versions. With that said, my k70 is brown and I'm now really considering a Das Keyboard with blues, I also wish they had an RGB version to match the rest of my rig.

    • @Zeroplanetz
      @Zeroplanetz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brawndo well even the RGB versions have had there fair share of issues. That being said though, most of the ones for sale are the MX red versions as well which I don't want. I just really want a solid RGB keyboard that's not gaming-ly over done that works properly.
      1-Aluminum/Black or darker colored
      2-Volume/Media Keys
      3-RGB lighting
      4-Cherry MX Blue or Brown or Black
      5-Non spacey gaming (esk)
      Surely it cant be hard to make one like this. Non Corsair. This Das Keyboard would be perfect if it had an optional RGB keyset.
      The Gskill would be nice if I could remove those wings on it. But no one will comment on that.

    Hi B, i actually went and purchased this keyboard, true its a hardcore built keyboard, very sturdy and you can tell from typing on it that its built well. However the only gripe that i have with it is i find that its extremely high............. what i mean by that is that i find my wrists need to be elevated off the actual table to be able to type properly. After a period of time there is no doubt my wrists will be tired. I am considering getting a wrist support gel pad, do you feel this sensation as well or do i have to just get used to it ?

    Do you use caps lock or shift when you type multiple big letters like "USB"?. I'm learning touch type and it fells wierd to switch between the left and right shift key when I type words with all big letters.

    this is what I like about non gaming keyboards because of the features and build quality for the price

    First keyboard I've found which is tempting me to upgrade from my trusty Logitech G110 "Gaming" (kind-of) board. I don't use macros, so that's not a concern. I love the design of this Daskeyboard 4, so I am pretty sold on it - Just need to gather the coin to buy one!

    I've never actually owned a mechanical keyboard, and due to pricing, I won't for a while, but are they really worth the hype? I have a Steelseries Apex keyboard, and I absolutely love it. To me, membrane keys are extremely comfortable to type with. I'm just a little unsure if I would like a mechanical keyboard.

      It all comes down to personal preference but I've yet to meet someone that typed on a mechanical keyboard in person and wanted to go back to membrain :D

    Thermaltake now has silver metal key caps to match the metal base. They ring when you type at speed.

    Can the keyboard "foot" be used towards the front (bottom) of the keyboard to give it a negative tilt? Because that would be awesome.

    Whats the difference between the keys from the Das Keyboard and another keyboard with Blue switches? Arent they the same, because they have the same keys. WIll I type quicker on this even though I didnt like another Blue switch keyboard (CM Storm Quick fire tk, and Blackwidow)?

    I think I replayed the, "who makes this sh*t up?" line as he was competing in TypeRacer about a dozen times. That cracked me up way more than I thought it would.

    Do you use the risers when you type? Personally, it hurts my wrists when I don't use them.
