Love what these guys have done in 2 or 3 short years. They've really made a career out of this.
Yes, I didn't like them that much at first, but they've grown on me over the past year (hmm... maybe I should see a doctor about that?). I also love the podcast they are regularly on: This Game Is Broken.
I totally agree, I feel like they have become better presenters and I have really have begun to enjoy their content

What the heck guys! You have not played AGRICOLA? It is not dry at all and has a tremendous amount of tension. You owe it to yourselves to play Uwe Rosenberg's classic worker placement game.

I love your top 10! However, Anachrony is in my top 3 worker placements. Keep at it, there's a lot to love!
I typically stay on the lighter side of worker placement. Champions of midgard and waterdeep. I backed reavers of midgard so I'm hoping that starts to get me to grasp a bit heavier euro
If I may share my experience with Anachrony, the game isn't about time travel at all... if are you considering storyteling (hmmm.. yeah ) sure, but not as near as it should be on gameplay. After some 5 or 6 maches we figure out that is fairly simple to win without using this feature. And ended up as a work-around if we mess up in our strategy. It's highly improbable that we miss understood some rule, we had been restudying this game on every single match. I thank that's it, thank you for this excelent video guys!!!
Great vid. I love worker placement! The Pursuit of Happiness is now on my radar; I've seen it a lot but never paid any attention to what it was.
My favorite worker placement title is Alien Frontiers.

Incidentally, you seem to have similar taste in games to me.. I own Viticulture, Pursuit of Happiness, Kitchen Rush and Everdell. Makes me wanna try more games from your list, especially Feast for Odin which i have (strangely) never played

What a great idea for a series. I think you broke even, because in disagreeing with Orleans' category, you could have people argue that Shakespeare is action selection and not worker placement. Love Shakespeare, and I agree about Agricola. If I wanted to read all that on the Agricola cards, I'd read a book. :)

Worker Placement games are my favourite style of games to play(2nd of course is Roll n Writes). I'm suprised that neither list had four of the BEST worker placement games on it(Kingsburg, Lords of Waterdeep, Champions of Midgard and Stone Age). My top 10 all time favourite Worker Placement games are....
1) Lords of Waterdeep
2) Champions of Midgard
3) Stone Age
4) Kingsburg
5) Tzolk'in the Mayan Calendar
6) The Kings Abbey
7) Kanban: Automotive Revolution
8) Lorenzo il Magnifico
9) Agricola
10) Yedo, Russian Railroads, Asara, Last Will/Prodigals Club, and Archon: Glory & Machination are all in a tie for my number 10.
Why do you all like prodigals club so much more than last will? and do you combine them when playing prodigals?
We've never combined them and most likely never will, it would make the game far too large in our opinion.
We like it more because it's less clunky. Last Will has a really confusing action selection part of it that we really dislike. Prodigals Club has pretty much everything Last Will does and more, and without the part we don't like. They're both good games though!
These guys seem really familiar - are they the ones that did the Twitch with BGG a few weeks ago? I think they did some episodes of Zee's old blender show too. Either way, they seem like they know what they are talking about, and I like their energy. More of this, please.

Very nice list! You know, Le Havre, just like Orleans and Carcasonne is not only a game but also a real place in France. It does also mean harbour. :)

For my money, top worker placement games are: Snowdonia, Madeira, Energy Empire.
Rajas is the besties. Hope you guys have had a chance to enjoy Feast for Odin with the Norwegians. You wont' go back to play without it :)

Tzolkin is one of my favorite games.

with star wars releasing a new film for christmas, you should do a 10vs10 star wars themed games...
Kind of funny to hear a game from 2008 being described as an "older" game but I guess it is when your top 10 is almost all games from the last 4 years.
Just like videogames, you can implement good ideas in new game, so newer games tend to be always better. And that's amazing new if you love the hobby

About Feast of Odin, that isn't 100% true, you do get occupation cards at the beginning of the game that can help you choose and I think they are a huge plus on making that game even better.

I tried learning agricola and Le Havre from iOS apps and I ended up giving up on both lol. either the tutorials were garbage or they're just not my type of games
Joseph Flemming I have the apps for both, and I learned Agricola pretty easily. It was very intuitive to me because of the theme. Also, I just started doing stuff without worrying about my score and slowly improved. However, I could not learn LeHavre. I'm going to have to read a rulebook for that.
C. W. Maybe I just don’t Agricola lol. The app seemed confusing because of the all the locations.
@@JosephFlemming I agree the icons aren't very clear, especially on a small screen, and my near vision isn't great. In general, I think more simple games work better as apps, especially if you haven't played the physical version. Everyone says Through the Ages is a great app, but I'm not sure I want to tackle it on a screen.
Try it again for Le Havre - may be with a TH-cam tutorial. It is such a good and rewarding gaming experience. One of my all time favorites!

Caylus is a great game. Stone Age is too simple IMHO.

I've found I have to make a date to play from the shelf of shame to keep from getting distracted by the cult of the new. That, and not buying any new games if I have more than three unplayed. Also, I tend to look for games that can also be played solo, which helps since I don't have a gaming group and my spouse is often busy.
No Stone Age? Or is that too basic?
For the love of god insert a slide that recounts the top tens at the end. So we don't have to keep rewinding at random to remind ourselves!

If you know Caverna, drop Agricola :) You won't return.
caverna had way to many buildings to think about at once. basically the person who took the longest at reading every room and picking the best ones would win.
I had that feeling as well. So I printed off some building lists and laminated them. Players can read them in-between turns and things move much quicker, even if playing with new people. Also, means you don't have to set up that awful building panel with all of the buildings on it.
How are you doing a worker placement top 10, having not played Agricola? Sorry guys, you've got to go do some more homework! 😂
