Unbelievable how you've managed to keep pushing the story, omitting boring parts and rather, adding excitement and almost non-stop action. It has been an excellent entertainment :) And how consistently you've managed to do that is absolutely commendable :) Thank you once again, Richard. And on to the next.... haha

I just wanted to thank you so much for sharing the series of Dragon Riders of Osnen. I so enjoyed listening to them. I am a 71 yr old woman who loves fantasy fiction. My grandson got me hooked when I read his book, Eragon. I read every book of that series written by Christopher Paolini. I loved that genre from then on. I have always thought what a wonderful thing to be gifted as a writer and you most certainly are. Continued success in your writings and by the way, you have the perfect name for an author. Thank you!

Richard - *THANK YOU* so much - not only for creating these wonderful characters, plots and world - also for being so kind and generous for putting them on youtube - REALLY appreciate it.
I kindof raced through all of these - and your Call of the Dragon books - (love how both dragon focused, yet completely different series, own universes in their own rights) - love that these are suitable for 'young adults' and adults, like myself who are young at heart (turned 50 this year - though that seems surreal, ridiculous, I can't be that 'old' )
audiobooks are my comfort - calm my anxiety (ptsd, anxiety, depression, and just recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia), thank you, thank you, *thank you* for being generous enough to put them on here - it means so much to me - and I know to so many others as well
(I got hooked to one series of books only for the author to come here to youtube tell off people for 'stealing' his work in the comments - before ensuing all audiobooks books wiped off the face of the earth here - which was foolish - only way I FOUND his series in the first place was via here, I've since recommended the series to so many other people, and requested my library purchase them (as I can't afford to do that myself anymore)
so again *THANK YOU* for putting your audiobooks on here - really really appreciate it. will certainly recommend to others - very clever marketing - ahead of your time - being here, making your hard work available to be appreciated in a very saturated (& demanding) market (fantasy - so many books, so many disappointments - rote routine of standard tropes & previous authors - unlike these which feel fresh and new - thank you)
one last thing - I can't remember how old/young I was when I first discovered Ann McCaffrey's books in a school library - I was hooked - would stay up all night reading each new one as it was published - one of the few regrets in my life (something meant to do, never found the courage when I was younger) was to write to her to thank her - for all the pleasure and joy she and her dragons & dragonriders - Pern - (and her other books) brought into my life - by the time I gained the courage to do so, she had passed. so is it okay if I thank you 'for her' as well - you've brought the best of that experience to me - while creating your own worlds and characters - thank you

Words fail me right now as I try to come up with a lengthly, well-written reply to all of your compliments and thank yous. 🙂
I'm glad you enjoyed them. I know many authors (definitely myself) often struggle with imposter syndrom, wondering if the stories we come up with are any good at all. Your comments help lift that doubt, so I want to thank YOU for the kind words.
I am sorry to hear that you didn't get to write to Anne before her passing, but I am honored that you want to thank her through me, and I warmly say:
You're welcome, and thanks for reading!

First order of business: dragon seatbelts.
It's a good thing the heroes aren't going to be teachers, since they never got a proper education themselves.
Student: "How come dragons make a separate nest for each egg?"
Eldwin: "They do? I mean, er, I'll ask my dragon-"
Scion: "I was kidnapped as a baby, remember?"
    Eldwin: "Crap."
Marin: "....Would you like to see a secret way into the girls' bathroom?"

I haven't read any of the books that inspired this series, so I don't know which details are derivative and which are original. That said,
    Things I liked:
Eldwin and Marin were a pretty good couple. They had different personalities, but their morals and goals were mostly the same.
Scion was neither an unruly jerk, nor a subservient puppet. She felt like part of the team with a seat at the metaphorical table when it came to making plans.
Mysteries that stumped the characters still had all the evidence available to the reader to figure out for themselves, so it made sense when the heroes finally solved them.
The dragon in human form gimmick was fun, especially when Scion tried to growl or sniff, etc., as a human. I would have liked to see that explored more, even.
The hero was not the best at anything. He was just a regular guy, doing what needed to be done. Solving a problem alone was always plan B, after the original team plan went wrong.
    Things I didn't like:
Characters would sometimes change which side of an argument they were on in the middle of a conversation. This was more common in the early books, and much improved in later books.
Demris got almost no development. Everything we know about his personality comes from comments Scion makes. This would be less of a problem if he wasn't the reason for a large part of the plot.
Fantasy Japan and Fantasy Vikings got a lot of time devoted to describing their aesthetic, even in contexts where it didn't seem appropriate, like the middle of a fight.
Tragedies had very different weight, depending on the victim. Marin loses her dragon and it's worth turning the world upside-down to bring him back. Katori loses her dragon, her friends, her friends' dragons, and her school, and her nemesis raises an undead army to kill her personally, but it's not a big deal until that army attacks the main characters.
    My favorite thing:
Scion. She was the most interesting character, and lots of fun. The fact that she had relationships with lot of other characters besides Eldwin upgraded her from supporting character to full co-star. Unlike lots of mystical/magical creatures, she spoke plainly, and didn't keep secrets, so she was someone Eldwin could always count on, even more than Marin. I particularly liked it when she interrupted narration segments with her telepathy. That was hilarious, and quite clever.
In summary, there were some rough bits, but I quite enjoyed the series, and I'll be sure to check out your other books.
