      @ I really liked it. I like storylines like this. Though when the main characters just met and their story being tied together in a knot to great scenes felt like the story was going fast. Yet there are 5 books. That’s why I felt the story deserves a new chapter sequel. I hope there will be new 5 books about the main characters. Just like a new sequel Dragonwatch to FableHaven for example. And I thought the two dragon riders were going to battle against each other in the sky. And I wanted to hear more about the plot to overthrow her former master and to hear more adventure with the strong female character. Anyway, I enjoyed the smart twists. Like the black dragon died for Caden and Mina breathing fire etc.🧐

    Here's what I always found kind of dumb or stupid about some fantasy whether it's role-playing or books or even movies If the character is a monster Hunter or monster killer or monster Slayer and magic exist in that setting why the hell would a character not want to learn magic every profession that I know of which involves possibly being killed or injured in real life these people acquire whatever skills necessary to help them to survive and succeed at their profession please officers firefighters all learn EMS skills as an example. So if you're in a setting where you're facing monsters with magical abilities in many cases who are larger stronger it would make perfect common sense to put everything in your advantage that you can hence using magic repeat using magic I'm not saying every monster Hunter would be a mage or a wizard but they would at least have defensive magic magic that allow them to detect their enemies or monsters and especially especially any type of healing magic but I keep running into these scenarios where they don't whether it's d&d whether it's anime whether it's stories like this and it makes no sense. It's an ability or a skill just like using a sword or just like hunting. Like first aid it just seems it would be inconceivable for a monster Hunter or Slayer whatever term you want to use not to have some amount of magic. Like the ability to create light the ability to heal themselves at least of minor damage The ability to camouflage themself at least for short time, The ability to find out where your monster is before you see them The ability to use magic to create temporary armor towards harder to be hit. Some video games get this correct such as elder scrolls . And there are a few other video games that also get it right. And the last dungeon dragons movie they came out was again made no sense The most powerful warrior in the group and had no magic skills whatsoever she not even a healing spell not even a spell to see in the dark just basic survival magic. This obsession of every class to be limited and restricted that dungeon dragons has is ridiculous You learn what you need to survive and that helps you to survive The outdated magic system that dungeon dragons use is a perfect example of a game system or setting unwilling to change.

      @@notcherbane3218 I'm about to step into a concert, but I'll give a quick simple answer as to why, at least in my world, it's not possible for someone to learn all the things, specifically magic, is because not everyone can learn magic. Only certain people can access it.

      Perhaps one might consider that just like in real life, the ones with power do the least amount of dirty work. The greater the power, be that intelligence, money, ability etc, the greater the chance they will be furthest removed from any danger. Powers can be applied by those with it and then charge others a fee for the benefits. If one had the power to heal, for instance, then it is highly unlikely one would be a nursing assistant, that power would be used to benefit the rich and famous at an extortionate rate of pay. If one had the ability to produce light then it would be highly unlikely we would find you living in some shanty village in a third world country just for the love of people, you would be touting your wares for the greatest profit with least effort. Fighting monsters is likely going to be a painful vocation, if you have the ability to earn a less painful living then surely you would? Now a series of books that might live up to your expectations, where monster fighters use magic and potions as part of their armoury would be "The Witcher" series. They are well written. However, all of this really misses the point, these stories are a metaphor for the hardships people face, the excitement comes from seeing our heroes achieve against all odds and ever increasing adversity. It's a social narrative about normal individuals just like us that can battle life's evils and win. We might not face real monsters but there are tyrants that act like monsters, such as our bosses, our partners, our neighbours, companies, political entities etc that we view as tyrannical beasts. "We" actually need the narrative of stories to draw strength from, so we live up to our own heroic fantasies of overcoming adversity. In truth, the monsters might actually consider the monster hunters the real monsters, just like in real life, the bad guys don't view themselves as bad, they are just doing their own thing and it's these pesky others interfering that's the problem. perhaps one should ask oneself "in which way am I the monster?" How do we attack others and not realise our own monstrosity in doing so, whilst it is clearly exposed to others around us?...

      @@MrMinddoctor Those are great points, but I write fantasy, which is not real life. Fantasy is an escape from reality for many people, and I don't intentionally put any sort of messaging into my stories. This always reminds me of someone who told a story about having to write an essay about what an author's underlying meaning was in their novel. Instead of assuming, she wrote the author a letter and asked what message he was trying to convey through his story. He replied and said there wasn't one. It was just a story. I've always found it interesting that people look so deeply into the stories they read. Oftentimes, there is no sort of message or underlying theme that correlates to the real world. It's just a story. With that said, sure, people with magical power in real life may choose to do the least amount of work for the most money, but I try to write characters that people can relate to even, if it's a fantasy world where the challenges aren't real and therefore someone would never face them. If I had magical powers, I would not pursue wealth. I would do good, whether that would be healing people in a nursing capacity or fighting monsters to keep people safe. If you wouldn't do the same, that's fine. We're all different, but I think most people would want to change the world for the better if they actually had power to do so. 🙂

    • @MrMinddoctor
      @MrMinddoctor 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RichardFierceWrites It's an interesting concept, how much of a writer's personal "message" is in the pages of their script. I agree that some writers do not intentionally have a message to deliver; however, It's somewhat impossible to create something that is not part of yourself in some way. We create what we know. It's a bit like trying to consider a concept without language or point of reference. for instance, describe the colour green to someone with congenital blindness. Your description is based upon your perspective. If I ask you to describe the room you are in, you will notice and narrate the parts that are important to you. As an author you may find this interesting, listen to someone speaking, about anything, doesn't have to have a subject matter. note all the descriptive words they use, then check out how closely those words relate to the orator. check it out with someone you know well, you don't even have to let them know you are doing it. You will be amazed at how close their descriptions fits themselves. Of course we all like to think of ourselves in a positive manner so we love the positive affirmations; and we all have a dark side too, so even the questionable bits have merit. The joys of being an author is that one can hide in a crowd, there are plenty of characters to sneak inside. As for my previous comment, it was not actually responding to your comment, rather that of the writer that didn't like monster hunters without magical abilities in a world of magic. I accept that it would be a greater world if everyone helped out those less fortunate and yet it is not the world we live in. We live in a world of accumulated wealth at the expense of others. There are enough resources for everyone, however they are not distributed equally. How many homeless people do you invite to live in your own home in order to get them off the street? This is not a criticism, it's an observation. If I had the power to heal I would like to think I would take the altruistic route, my thinking is that it really isn't as likely as I would rather believe. Accumulating wealth is the world I have been raised in and is part of the social dichotomy. We are all conditioned by the social narrative of our time. At some point in the future people will look back at this time as part of a dark age, we can see that directly with the social changes that have occurred over the past 50 years. things do change eventually as social attitudes develop and change. By the way I thought your story was great, I have listened to it twice now and probably will again.

    • @MrMinddoctor
      @MrMinddoctor 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RichardFierceWrites Just as an afterthought, once you have written your story and exposed it to the world, does the story belong to you any longer? Your intent no longer becomes relevant as the individual reader takes away their own messages based upon their own perspectives. It's a bit like after reading a great yarn, the movie comes out. The characters never seem to look sound or act as we imagined them to, usually ending in the sentence "well that movie is nowhere near as good as the book". One can usually translate that to "my imagination is far better than that director's abilities". Now if we do it the other way around movie first and then book, Tom Hanks becomes part of our reading experience!

    This story goes against almost all the rules of dungeon and dragons there's no way even if you couldn't cast it that a low level character could summon a dragon maybe a wolf possibly but different magic user rules and believe you dungeon dragons magic system sucks
