Hello, I'm in my late 60's. My son usually sets up all my new electronic devices. Today my new macbook air arrived and he is overseas. So I decided to try to set up my macbook with the help of youtube. The first video started with custom settings. I was having trouble with plugging it in. Thanks to you I was able to completely set it up and I am using it now. I can not thank you enough.

Funny that you fixed it. Native English speakers will often say such things on casual communication. In fact some parts of society would consider your use of "themselves" to be good because it's gender neutral and "himself or herself" is assuming a gender typical reader. Personally I don't care either way, your English is better than many and after taking a quick look at a couple of your other comments it's hard to say with certainty that it's not your first language.

I am a complete luddite who has just changed from PC to MAC so was a little apprehensive about being able to get my head around things. This is one of the best video guides/tutorials I have come cross - on any subject. Following it through, step by step and I am set up and ready to go. Brilliant, thank you and well done!

Dude you have almost every permutations combination of tests once can perform on a MacBook. I doubt even the testing team at Apple did all of the test that you did . Cheers mate !

Believe it! I manifested mine, it does work. It was not in my budget but I went through the process of putting it in my cart online exactly as I wanted it and then letting it go. I received mine as a birthday gift yesterday that I was not expecting. I was manifesting it about 3 weeks ago and I believed and let it go.
These M1 machines will be the first Mac for many PC users (me being one of them), so this type of videos is hugely helpful for us in our first steps with Mac OS. Please do more of those!!

To record the screen just press shift+command+4 and to take a screenshot from just a part of the screen press shift+command+3. TIP: to copy-paste with the same format of the destination just press shift+control+command+v (it is very useful for docs or words)

A shortcut to screen record / screen shot is command shift 5. I don’t think it records audio from your device tho so maybe QuickTime is better in that aspect (I haven’t tried the QuickTime method)

The little handbook Apple sent after my purchase was pretty helpful too! An idea for another video maybe some cool customization ideas or tips on how to customize certain features for aesthetic purposes I also have a question: would I need to have virus protection software installed on my Mac ?

I don't use virus protection, just be careful to not download suspect things (as you would normally do on Windows anyway), and you will be fine :)
